@linn1000 You can check out my run with the 997 turbo, it runs 0 -60 in 3.7secs. We were rolling and i beat him to 60 in my M6 with some wheel spin. If u have enough knowledge about BMWs u would know that they can do much better than the number written on paper. But when it comes to Porsche, number written on paper are the ultimate numbers only, which means u can get worse in real life.

@linn1000 BMW will always use estimated numbers, like 0-60 in 5.0secs that is a number any driver almost any condition can get. Same as the E60 M5, BMW says it will hit 60 in 4.7secs and thats the worst u can get from as lots of test showed that it can do 0-60 in 4.1 ,4.2secs etc... Now when it comes to Porsche they always showing best numers, numbers that u cant beat in real life. u cant ever get less than 4.7 in Carrera, while u can get 4,7 in a Z4M easily.

Dang that really was bad shifting. Sounded like an auto. But the 997s would still beat it on the highway. I have a z4m and had a 997 base. The only way the m could take the 997 is if had the Crappy auto.

Side note: I killed a modded 996 turbo on my 75 shot. I had a car length on him up to 140. Look up z4m vs ls3. That was on a 50 shot

@1001V16 I owned A Z4M. And once i raced a 997 Carrera S with modified exhaust and i was stock. We started from 40 all the way to my limiter about over 250. The Carrera S was 3 to 4 cars behind!!! Its even worse for stock Carrera's as they are easily destroyed by Z4M's. This race is a complete bullshit. Though the Z4M has a smaller engine its still clearly faster. And i know what im talking about. Porsches just doesn't stand againest ///Mpower machines. Check my run M6 vs 997 Turbo.

Last week on the autobahn i had three nice races

the first against a stock r8 with 420hp. he started accelarating in front of me from about 100km/h to 250, but he didnt win anything...

the second against a stock bmw m3 e46, with also 343hp. Also racing from 100 to about 200, but i was a few cars in front of him at the end.

the last race on the same way against a bentley continetal gtc. And this car got power man. was very impressing and faster!

so dont mess with m-Power!

Interesting comparison. Not much in it but I'm not sure it is 100% definitive. I have a Z4M and raced a 997C2S Gen 1 recently side by side and we were dead equal. From my experience with the Z4M engine, it doesn't sound like the Z4M driver in this video was using full revs in each gear.

Much like how the 911 has always been "egg shaped", Bentley and Rolls had their traditional box-shaped vehicles until VW and BMW took them over. Now they're starting to round the style out. Which is ok, the Germans have done a great job with those brands. But its so easy to tell that those cars are no longer English.

@TheJsHep many people fail to understand the physics behind the rear-engined layout. You are right about improving handline by moving engine forward.. because ideally, it would be in the middle for optimal weight distribution. BUT rear engine layout is advantageous because u don't have a a large mass over the the front wheels. This setup helps traction of the line, cornering and ESPECIALLY braking. When a porsche undergoes heavy breaking, the force distribution is nearly equal over all wheels.

Although i own a z4m and prefer FR over RR, the 911 is different league.

I have ran and beat Z4 Ms ( on more than one occasions ) when I had my E46 M3 by more than a car..even though they both have the same engine..then i drove a friend's base 325hp 997 manual and effortlessly ran away from a E46 M3..So yeah, this Z didn't have a chance against a 997 S..PDK or not

no, stock for stock i think this is definitly correct. Carrera 2S is an extremely capable car, even before the mid-generation update. perhaps you raced a Cayman S, or a base carrera.

The 335Ci is convertible which is 81(kg) heavier than the 335i coupe, and the original wheels on the 335Ci is 18 inch wheels, while the 335Ci in that video is using 19 inch wheels. 335i rapes the Cayman s just live with it.

my god you are an idiot, the car in the race isnt a convertible, the car they show afterwards is a M3 convertible, not a 335ci, you can see it in the race, that the 335Ci has a B-column, which the 3 series convertible wouldnt have and it has the standard mirrors, look at the m3 mirrors which are different.Start living in the reality, a Cayman S is faster than a 335ci, even the old 295bhp version.

Trust me on this, There is something wrong with this Z4M. I have a Z4M and im faster than the 997 carrera S by 2 cars. Only the PDK Carrera S is faster than me by nearly 8 cars length. And the way this guy shifts through gears just makes me sick. Check the other video were the CSL smokes this Z4M which is impossible.

A 997 911 2S will beat a Z4M in any type of performance test, period. The 911 has a little more hp, but probably a lot more whp, they have very little drive train loss. That, plus good aerodynamics, similar weight, the 911 2S is just going to win.

The other thing to consider is that the Porsche quoted figure is a 'minimum' horsepower, whereas most other manufacturers (I believe including BMW) quote an 'average' horsepower.

EVERY engine that comes off the Porsche production line is Dynoed, and if it doesn't meet the minimum specification, the engine is scrapped. (Most of the time, the Porsche engine will be a bit more than the quoted figure.)
