I stll can't believe they killed Rita, she was so perfect for him. I cried, when watched the season 4 finale, was practically hysterical. It's just too bad she had to go and I only hope that Dexter won't stop being a dad to her kids because loved that part of him too.

this is the second last scene where they get to talk to eachother before she dies and its so sad when i watch this when she is saying she doesnt wanna lose him but its the other way around she doesnt know whats coming her way dexter is so human and honest right now he is actually telling her his real feelings its so beautiful but the next day when sh dies i pretty much cried and it was hard to watch season 5 without rita it was so sad when she dies :(

As I was saying, the other 2 girls in Dexter only accepted what he was and the darkness that they perceived was inevitably inside of him. That's false. Dexter was slowly but surely healing himself with the light that Rita was. Dexter was in turn healing Rita from the abuse she received from Dexter. Love is not just acceptance. Love is getting the best out of your partner, Dexter and Rita were doing that for each other. If you say Dexter was inevitably dark, you are ignoring his emotional growth

@shreya5909 Honestly I cried when Rita died, I just watched season 4 finale the other day and I know its fake and I am a guy but its just so sad. Rita and Dexter were soulmates. Not that new girl or Leila. So what if they both understood Dexter for what he is, that's not the point. Rita and Dexter were made for each other, they were both damaged, they were humanizing/normalizing each other. The other 2 girls only accepted Dexter for what he was, dark.

@shreya5909 Its ok I actually ended up skipping season 5 and just watching clips/reading the summary so I know who Lumen is. I got really annoyed when they killed Rita off. I wish they didn't. I hate sad endings and Rita was the most innocent person I've ever seen on a tv show, it was just not right killing her that way. This really should have been Dexter's last season on TV and I was hoping that the rest of the series would focus on Dexter humanizing and his relationship with Rita.

@shreya5909 Agreed, killing Rita is like resetting the series. I was hoping Rita would be the light that would eventually drive off Dexter's dark passenger. Was hoping this season and possibly one last one would focus on their relationship and Dexter being humanized. Instead, I think the writers are getting greedy just so they can squeeze more Dexter episodes for higher ratings. Hopefully I'm wrong, but greed ruined great shows like Prison Break and Lost too.

Dexters got a new lady friend. I was really sad when rita died partly because this scene was really touching. Now i can see why they killed her off. Lumen is much more his type than rita. and rita was always just a front. This is really the only moment dexter acts like he loves her.

i love this show and i love ritas character. at first very upset with the ending, but now i see it was inevitable.
