omg! my beloved tori amos needs to realize this! I can't believe tori has gone to guitars when being forced to use guitars in her music was the reason she rebeled against the record companies. Now, actually maybe a little guitar won't hurt Bjork, like one or two songs, just for variety's sake. She's done stuff with acoustic guitars live before. Maybe a Sigur Ros colab?!
Guitars are the reason why pop music has become stale...people for the most part (exceptions being Radiohead etc.)aren't using it to explore sound, rather imitate ones that pushed this instrument into the mainstream consciousness. Musical artists have the right to call it out for what it is. Would a master =painter= use a crayons (cue every lame Train song) or something more consistent with technique and discovery?
Dude, I don't care what others may say. Volta is a hell of an album. It has so much blood in it. The brass makes every song so fricking great. When I listen to Wanderlust, for example, I can't help but think I'm climbing Elbrus or something.
I think people don't like some new albums with new albums not because the album is "bad" but because it is not something they expected from a particular artist. as see it rather as frustration.
I think it is important that artists follow their heart in experimenting with music the way they feel and not just stick to a style, because they are "in" performing it.
Volta is everything she has learned with the previous albums. You can hear Medulla in all the voice layers. Debut for it's down to earthness in some way. Post for the beautifull electronics, vespertines for the gentle beats that are behind the big ones and homogenic in the way she uses her voice.
Yea Volta is fucking sweet with that brass sound.

source : Dummy Magazine, 2007:

Björk: - They suck.

thanks. i kinda have to agree with her...

she did say that...but the statement has a story behind it.
she was working on her post i think.
She was loving dance music at the time
and wanted to explore that. But she has made acoustic songs..like " my heart been broken" that is all flamneco guitar

I have no problem with the song. I respect her creativity but I do miss the stronger beats from her earlier albums. I dare her to make a metal album!

Sorry, but can Bjork go back to actually writing songs with actual rhythm? This stuff sounds like the mess you'd hear in a New Age store.
Her albums are getting worse and worse. Earth Intruders was awesome! The album, HORRIBLE.
Bjork's got to knock of the pretentiousness, and go back to recording industrial punk electronic pop!
This stuff is just boring, and each song is the same theme.

sorry
that you don't feel it
but she is now better than ever
debut was genius but volta is better, much better!!
