I love the old blazers, broncos and ramchargers. Power wise, the ford, chevy and dodge are very close when comparing their small blocks. It's just unfortunate the chevy small block isn't quite as durable as the others when left completely stock. The Ford undercarriage and drive train are very tough. The engines are also good under extreme abuse. The Chevy big block on the other hand is a different animal. The big block chevy is "one of" the best truck engines as far as durability and torque go.

It doesnt matter If u can pull another truck, I know my chevy k5 with a 350ci and a edelbrock 4barrel carb can pull a 30 foot trailer with a cat 953c and a bobcat on it...but my inline6 ford is better on gas, and my v8 f250 is an ok work truck, but it can't pull sh@t with the 7.3 in it
exactly.....the windsor engines have lots of low end torque. I'm an owner of one and these things with the right camshaft and rear end gears, can pull tree stumps all day.
Carnage is inevitable especialy when you have a windsor stroker engine = tons of low end torque. Throw in some gears and some good traction tires and thats all folks!
I have a pontiac 455 big block stroker, cam, 850 holly carb, ported aluminum heads, racing distributor, roller rockers, and a 20psi turbo.... alot of money noone ever attempt to rebuild a 455 parts are harder to find but the performance is supreem 10.9 quarter miles street legal!

@rhauf1 i got a 440 cubic inch stroker crank for my mercury 400 engine. i got a edelvrock 400 performer and going to get 650 carb, i have a new air cleaner, performance ignition, and lots of other things, way to much to list on here. it would take me 2-3 pages to tell you what ive done to it.
@rhauf1 ther r the stock cylinder heads, i have fully ported and polished them and i have oversize undercut valves. they flow like crazy. i dont have the $ for something like edelbrock or austrailian heads

i've found ported/polished and modified stock heads usually cost more (unless you have the tooling to do it yourself) than a new set of aftermarkets. i suppose this depends on the engine make/model as well.

@rhauf1 im not afraid to revv it up, i just dont race it or drive it at high rpms. when i dyno'd it, it went 157 mph (on the road areodynamics stops it around 140) i wouldnt want to even try to go that fast. it doesnt revv faster than 5,000 rpm because of the intake manifold. i have revved the hell outta it, i just dont really want to and dont need to. it had really high gearing and it does moderate speeds at very low rpms
Built Ford Tough, them old Bronco's are tough to beat, when they came out in 78 they kicked the Blazer right square in the ass, well the 78-79 full size was built on the best light truck chassis ever made, the 73-79 Ford F-150, my 78 is a living specimen of the days when the automakers built stuff to last, at least Ford did, all the Chevy's from the 70s rusted through like the old Jeeps did. They sure don't build em like they used to.

@landon460 I see what your saying dude and this kid is obviously confused. He thinks the Bronco's engine weighs more since it has more displacement(408vs.350). What he doesn't get is the Bronco has a stroked 351W which without lightweight performance parts weighs around 525lbs. and the Blazer has a 350 which weighs about 550lbs. so once again you are right, the Blazer in the vid is heavier all around compared to the Bronco. It's simple math, 1 ton=more weight than half ton..duh kid.

There is a weigh difference between the two but and the bronco does not have the engine weight advantage you think it does. You probably don't know what either of those engines weigh or what family they are from. @rhauf1 i got a 440 cubic inch stroker crank for my mercury 400 engine. i got a edelvrock 400 performer and going to get 650 carb, i have a new air cleaner, performance ignition, and lots of other things, way to much to list on here. it would take me 2-3 pages to tell you what ive done to it.

@dnl5649 Whats the point of hotrodding an engine if you're afraid to rev it up? RPM/5225 x torque = horsepower. low rpm = low horsepower.
i've found ported/polished and modified stock heads usually cost more (unless you have the tooling to do it yourself) than a new set of aftermarkets. i suppose this depends on the engine make/model as well.

@rhauf1 yes, i do all of the work myself. im 15 years old. see some of my vids if you want. i just used my dads dermal tool and some de-burring bits, polishing wheels and some carbide bits to port it. cost me 30$ + 60$ for the valves i got used on ebay and i got a valve seat cutter free from my uncle. i have many books on how to hotrod engines

@rhauf1 well i do drive it really fast sometimes, i just wanted the big ol' engine that gets 8 mpg to have more power, it still gets 8 mpg but now it has almost 400 horsepower. i only wanted 400 cubes 400 horses, i wanted volumetric efficiancy. i dont race it.

@rhauf1 im not afraid to revv it up, i just dont race it or drive it at high rpms. when i dyno'd it, it went 157 mph (on the road areodynamics stops it around 140) i wouldnt want to even try to go that fast. it doesnt revv faster than 5,000 rpm because of the intake manifold. i have revved the hell outta it, i just dont really want to and dont need to. it had really high gearing and it does moderate speeds at very low rpms

Built Ford Tough, them old Bronco's are tough to beat, when they came out in 78 they kicked the Blazer right square in the ass, well the 78-79 full size was built on the best light truck chassis ever made, the 73-79 Ford F-150, my 78 is a living specimen of the days when the automakers built stuff to last, at least Ford did, all the Chevy's from the 70s rusted through like the old Jeeps did. They sure don't build em like they used to.
