I have loved this song for years, but never known its name nor the meaning of the song. It usually popped up at least once each saturday night after a league game with the boys. I have only just found out its song and looked up the lyrics, and their interpretation. A very inspirational song.

Almost makes me cry when I hear this song. Reminds me of when I was growing up and mum would sing it. Wish all maoris could get together again. This song unites us I think.
I was at the 1988 telethon and remember Patea maori club with Dalvanius Prime. Awesome to see some of the Kuia who back then were younger. This song was the highlight of the night back in 1988 along with Haere mai sung by Cara Pewhairangi (Ngoi's) grand-daughter.
Look @ our kuia.....aren't they just gorgus?? Love this song :)
