haha yeah! Whenever someone brought a japanese card around, the kids would go crazy over it. I still have vivid memories of it til this day.

Yeah, I believe it's because the cost of production for e-cards were more expensive so that was the way they could make the packs without charging a bundle for them. But I could be wrong.

And don't worry, I got these packs for pretty cheap so either way it was worth it for me =]

Japanese cards didn't start making 1st edition until the VS E-Reader set. If you're looking for Jap Neo Discovery, this is the cheapest box you'll ever find. Enjoy!

How do you know/tell if s booster or deck is real/legit?

There are several ways of telling but the biggest stand out for me is that fake booster packs/decks are often way off the actual pack design that it looks like they didn't even try to make it "look real" =P Other than that, I look at the quality of the print and packaging, as well as other things. There are some things to distinguish the actual cards from real and fake but it depends on older or newer cards.

I'm going to say Pokemon, although both seem to be going quite strong and living through the test of time. I was never fond of Yu Gi Oh to be honest with you, and nothing can compare to the Pokemon EXPLOSION of 98/99 where it was the biggiest thing of those years that even adults couldn't ignore it.

2 sets in 1? And by the way, does anyone know why these E Reader sets and Ex sets in Japanese are impossible to find online? I can't find a single Ex series Japanese booster pack anywhere.

With E-Card 1 being the "base set" of the E-Reader era, E-Card 2 to 5 were suppose to be smaller expansion sets, much like Jungle, Fossil, Neo Discovery, etc. have been in the past. However, WOTC was having some problems with Nintendo near the end of their contract (many reasons which I can explain later), they started combining two Jap E-Card sets into one.. so E-Card 2,3 --> Aquapolis, and E-Card 4,5 --> Skyridge so they could release it all in time.

Chances are, if you want to find those booster packs you'll have to look at sources that are outside ebay and off of sites that aren't too mainstream but popular enough that won't be worried about getting jipped. I've actually seen a lot of Jap EX booster boxes on ebay though, you'll just have to search under the "store" option rather than a general search of normal sellers.

Oh there is an English version of that card that is holographic and it is pretty nice. I'm not too sure if the Japanese version has a holographic of that card, I'd have to double check.

Yeah, it's not a lot of cards but it's understandable considering the increased cost of making the cards e-reader compatible.

whats interesting is that even though this set has the most cards the other e card sets dont even go over 100.i do wonder though did japan make a 1st edition set and an unlimited set of this cause i know i'm actually lookin at e series 2 and it aint 1st edition

Yeah that's something I don't know either, and they don't really specify that stuff from any sources I've read. I've seen the same thing.. packs that are 1st edition and not being able to find unlimited.. and vice versa.
