The Québécois pay taxes and are just as entitled to returns than other Canadians. That does not mean by any stretch that they should feel indebted to it. If Québec were a country, they'd simply pay similar amounts to another government.

Lecavalier has done all his Life there and moving a family is difficult. Brière is an other thing. Still, 93' team was majorly french speaking wich means that it still doable.

Before Bill 101, most newcomers, an overwhelming portion of them, went to English institutions and didn't see learning French as a must. Without Bill 101, I feel safe saying you probably wouldn't even know French yourself. Before Bill 101, it was difficult for the French speaking majority to find a workplace in which they could speak their language.

All the pre surgery papers I got explaining what to do and not do before surgery...all in french. After my surgery, it took them 30 MINUTES to understand that I had to go pee...I was CRYING.

What is surprising about a player established in a city for his entire career, where he's starting to raise his family, to want to stay there for the rest of it? This hardly entails French players do not want to play in Montréal and you sure fucking damn know it.

I am definitely a hockey fan and having a French presence in the team is something very important to me. I don't remember the French press ever trying to get Carbonneau's head.

Before Bill 101, most newcomers, an overwhelming portion of them, went to English institutions and didn't see learning French as a must. Without Bill 101, I feel safe saying you probably wouldn't even know French yourself. Before Bill 101, it was difficult for the French speaking majority to find a workplace in which they could speak their language.
Most of the province agrees that Bill 101 was required and the measures aren't going anywhere.
