Im planning on joining the reserves, however i am in a bit of a jam... i will be graduating college with a BA degree, and qualify for officer, but enlisted seems like more intense and hands on not just pushing papers. In enlisted idk if i should do port security or w/e (a cop on bases forget the letters :-\) or be a bosons mate- i have had alot of experience on boats and can handle them well... idk what to do!! any advice?

I would go enlisted at first and you can always become an officer if you want to get more into it. I would visit the station near you that you would be drilling at and see what boatswain's do there. IMO Port security is more like a mall cop then a cop, besides you can always become a boarding officer as a boatswain mate on top of all the other cool stuff they do.

i would love to drive a surf boat in the USCG....I am currently go to school to get my captians licence and hopefully gonna drive the fairys back and forth from Mackinaw Island......if it were me i would want to motor life boat school do drive one for the USCG

Great video!! A couple years ago,I was walking along the Grand Haven pier with 3 old guys, had to be in their 70`s. We were just watching a Nov storm blow in. The waves in the channel alone were over 10-12 ft next to the bathhouse. As we got close to the pier, some coastie kids came along in a `47. A HUGE assed wave came in the channel,they got that thing all the way out of the water, you could hear those kids screaming and laughing..1 of the old timers I was walking with, yelled.FUCKERS!&smiled
