  • heres the ultimate test... take the sound you made, invert the wave forms... see if you can line them up with "One More Time" and if you can match them up, the beat should cancel out and you'll hear mainly vocals if the song...

  • Masterfully executed! I love Daft Punk!

  • Hahah I think this is fucking genius. Daft Punk is the best. Seriously, if you watch this and this makes you hate Daft Punk, there is something wrong with you. Because this just shows what kind of geniuses they are behind the scenes, and how GREAT musicians they are.

  • Are you kidding, aren't you? A genius isn't a guy who picks a song then cuts it and transposes it to avoid copyright issues (see what happened to Black Box's "Ride on Time").Come on! They just made a sample based rythm because it fits in electro style. Maybe you say they made very well electronic music, dance grooves, (I think they do), but if you say they are GREAT musicians, you simply didn't listen to many. Goes for everybody.

  • @intron9 No, it's not that simple, i've listened to MANY artists. They are great musicians because of what they have done WITH the samples that they have taken. You can't start hating on others because you didn't find the samples before them or something like that (Not talking about you personally). What i'm trying to say is, just look at where they have taken the samples, what part of the song(s), and what they've made it to, they even create their own bassline with the samples.

  • I still love Daft Punk and other electronic artists.

House and Rap are built on creating something new from something which came before. It adds to the charm.

Yes, they sample. I don't think everyone could take an old song and chop it up and create something awesome the way they do.

  • Hey dude, do you think that you could do a video recreating "Feel It All Around" by Washed Out from it's sample: Gary Low "I Want You"? I think that would be another really cool video.

  • Dude this is awesome! You have no idea how inspired I felt seeing that change! Thank you so much for this video, you are a really cool guy, I can tell. Thanks again.

  • GREAT VID. I love this coming back to the roots initiative! GREAT VID !

  • when i first heard the original track, i could vaguely tell where the sample was. well done on your part. sampling can do some crazy stuff

  • cool!!! ONE MOAR TIIME lol

  • This explanation is beautiful, looking into the creativity that is Daft Punk. Sampling can be genius, especially when you transform something like that. What is any art but turning one thing into another? even perception itself is transformation of light, sound or particles into sight, hearing, taste, and smell. Its all transformation, its all connected. Its beautiful. Daft Punk is genius, and I like the original song too.

  • Thanks for this video. I had difficulty hearing the sample from the Eddie Johns' song and now.... "it's all so clear"..... LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very disapointed in Thomas Bangalter claiming there were no samples used in "One More Time"..... "Give credit where credit is due" I say. Eddie Johns' "More Spell On You" is a great song, and I didn't even know the song existed until I began researching "One More Time", and "One More Time" is a great song as well. Thanks again.....

  • to the haters! at least they thought of doing it, maybe if you had you woulden't be sittnig on youtube all day...

  • Please don't overuse the phrase "by any stretch of the imagination".

  • awesome stuff, don't let the haters get to you :)

I love daft punk AND this video

  • fuck yeah!

  • 2:42 Mind Fucking Blown @_@ how did you discover it.

  • "It's not perfect".... Damn near perfect.... "It's not perfect"... He's being too hard on himself.

  • Hey Thomas Bangalter said that one more time was not sampled.

    U debunked him :D

  • I could never hear which part Daft Punk used to make One More Time ! Thanks !

    Good job ! =]

  • Woah... Still love One More Time; fucking amazing song... But this vid is great

  • Nice job Brian. I didn't know you made video too. I'll be subscribing right now thank you.

  • Class!!!

  • cool video

  • Yeah it sounds a bit too close to be coincidence. Great job both of you!

  • Wow... I try to sample songs but I can never even come up with stuff like this...

  • great video (: !!1

i love how daft punk uses samples and they have a great choice of music

now i wonder, i read on wikipedia that bangalter denied using samples for this song o_O not im not sure bangalter's denial was true or not but if it is true, why'd he deny it if it was a clear cut sample. i dunno

  • Can you make a video about the song Barbara Streisand by Duck Sauce lol

  • ye you nailed it - one more time.....have a listen to "depeche mode - never let me down again - live" on youtube....... this is were daft punk got sample for 'da funk'

  • if one of my songs were sampled by daft punk i would be proud

  • More Spell on You deserves far more attention. Don't get me wrong, I love Daft Punk, but Eddie Johns was a talented artist.

  • dude how you got the bass stumped me, good work!

  • That's amazing that they found and constructed something out of that!!

  • Can someone please tell me what this program is? i really wanna use it

  • @anguskahn22 it looks like a version of mixmeister....

  • Can someone please tell me what this program is? i really wanna use it

  • did you do a video for aerodynamic?

  • Great vid man sampling is cool this hole idea of ripping off music really ticks me off especially when its done creatively and a lot of great artists have gotten terrible lawsuits for the dumbest reason every one just wants there cut i guess cant say im any better. Keep up the great work you have been very informative ty.

  • that's cool dude. what program are you using and how much is it?

  • Nice video :)

    It's very well done

Although Daft Punks version (as you said several times) is better :)

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, thats so cool

  • i just started laughing in amazement when i saw what you did with it, cuz i listened to the original to see what i could hear and it wasnt much, but thats just so crazy you put it together like that

  • But Bangalter says he didnt use the sample. So whats the truth? Why would he deny it?

  • fuck you dude..DJ's always mixes someone tracks

  • Loop some part of a real music with some junk beat in the background, you get an original trash and become world famous.

  • Try breaking dow the samples from my songs and then i'll be impressed

  • Godly.

  • hey good video - good on daft punk for editing this song and turning it into something spectacular.... hearing how they/you did that was inspirational to me..! thanks

  • fair play to do that :)

  • Sweet!

  • You keeo playing your work down as "not perfect" towards the end, it sounded just like 'One More Time' i think you did a great job, and i for one enjoyed uncovering the secrets of Daft Punk's best work.

  • xolemonlime2 said it xD

  • Who said that they ruined it?

  • good job that does sond like one more time!!!

  • Nice man, I was kinda skeptical when I heard the More Spell On You, but it kinda sounded like it was still there. But you nailed it nice job.

  • well, It's grat of you to show us how daft punk actually works. It's awesome, how you made the kind of "original sample" for one more time, and it also shows, that those guys of daft punk are actually crative working people, and not just playing the songs slightly changed.

thx for this grat vid dude

  • O.O I never imagined that one more time was sampled from and old bad song, but anyway, it doesn´t matter if they copied and pasted, they are a genious and they ever do original things like this, because they know how. Daft punk is the best!!!!!

  • wow!!!...yeah....it does make sense now...I couldn't really see how the beat to the more spell on you was "related" to the one more time...now its clearer....cheers for posting!...

  • wow why do people think that daft punk is less famous for sampling tracks In the beginning of house all most everybody that was making house music sampled disco tracks. If You think that´s not true then your wrong House music originated from disco.

  • who knows if its real or not. but, this is pretty convincing. good work, truely. still.. you just ruined my all time favorite song. :'(

  • hey men!!!

    that's super!!

    this is art!!!!!

tell me one curiosity, the artists who did this kinda of "plastic" surgery, they are attcked by copyright terms?

  • oneeeeee moreeeeeeeeeee timeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Agree this is the sample daft punk used, and who cares if they did loop it..they just made this unpopular song more popular then ever..so i give props to the OG producer and daft punk..end of story

  • dude that is fuckin awesome man!!!! sampled or not you really need to make a vs song of one more time and spell on you and play it at clubs!!!!! i love daft punk

  • Comment removed

  • :) I always wondered *where* they had sampled this from - it's just too disco for words and has always sounded like it was from another era. (It's possible to like a band but to also be conscious or at least have a suspicion that you're listening to a sample if you're not entirely sure where it's from.

The minute I heard the horns I *knew* that was the basis for OMT - even without all of the evidential tweaking... But still it's nice to hear/see how it was done.

  • @ briansredd: i'm not worthy i'm not worthy.... lol thanks.

  • Wow, great job! How are Daft Punk going to deny using the sample with this video?! I love Daft Punk so much but if anything positive, it shows how clever DP are for chopping up the original. Props to you both :)

  • words cannot describe the smile on my face while i was watching the video

    great work!

  • @poogy71 i know man LOL first i was like -_- then i was like O_O then i was like ^______^

  • wow...i knew they made a sample from it but i never actually did hear it fully looped and stuff like that...and it sucks that Daft Punk have actually denied, that they used that sample from Eddie Johns. mm yea...=/

  • "Reportedly" denied sampling. That means that no one can confirm either of them denying the sample.

  • that's very well done. sounds exactly right :)

  • btw, great job creating the One More Time loop! It was indeed perfect, and it sounds incredible.

  • Comment removed

  • omg i didnt hear it until you did that! also what program are you using?

  • Great video! Thanks very much for posting! I enjoy very much how you deconstruct the samples.

  • Today, when all the dance pop tracks sound the same, use same damn samples, same dancy basslines lines and all same synth presets, it's actually MORE CREATIVE to take a sample from some old vinyl than to create a track from scratch and use all that same samples almost everybody use.

  • your a genious...

  • Thank you so much for clearing that up.

Thanks to you, I won 20 bucks from my brother :D.

  • Awesome job dude! It's really sampled, and I don't think is a bad thing, right? I'm a huge Daft Punk fan, btw.

  • if you think more you can find one bad thing.

The songs that are sampled will be known as the work of daft punk.

I mean, if you hear a song that was sampled what are you gonna say?

"Hey! it's the same as daft punk!"

  • That's true, but at least people will discover this old and great music! I loved "More Spell on You"

    I really did.

  • Anyway there's still only one good thing:

    MUSIC! =D

  • but think about it these days when artists sample songs they put them how they are, daft punk was creative and made it into a whole new track which sounds great

  • yeah, you're right. one more time is the best party song ever. it's their biggest hit and is probably the only one that has made it to a regular radio station.

  • yo thanks man this is such a great cool ass song i'v been listening to daft punk since i was 8 i remember it well hearing this song on radio Disney lol i can wait for their new album and tron 2.0

  • Awesome!!! I discovered a new song too. Daft Punk are really talented!!! I love their music as well.

There's nothing wrong with sampling is just another form to express your creativity and talent. I am actually getting into sampling myself and I am loving it!!! Is just another form of art. What is not right, I believe; is denying that they sampled from it. They should' ve known that sooner or later someone would discover the sample no matter how hidden it was. Good set of ears!

  • There's something about the 'original' sampled version, and Daft's version that don't match. Just like Vanilla Ice and Queen hahaa.

  • I'm sure that if they did use it, they would have admitted to it, unless if they do say they did and get arrested or whatever, then i don't blame them. BUT, I'm sure its from somethin' else?

  • It's definitely sampled. No way it fits that perfectly by coincidence, sorry. I love Daft Punk, and they should just admit that they used it as a sample.

  • @EffinPiss Not sampled. I have a feeling they just reproduced it live in the studio. So they definitely got it from this song but didn't use an actual recording of this song. Just my .02

  • @danconia3873 Ah, yeah. 11 months ago I should've chosen my words more carefully. They "sampled" the idea though. ;]

  • @danconia3873 Yeah Maybe they did

  • @EffinPiss who they? daft punk? the original credits are already on the album and a compilation was released with all the original songs it's called Discovered: A Collection of Daft Punk Samples

  • @EffinPiss I'm pretty sure they did, there is a sample CD and 2 Vinyl's which have the originals and in brackets the name of their song. I have no idea if it's official, but it has to have had something to do with them as it was released with their tag.

Check out "Daft Punkd 1" "Daft Punkd 2" and "Discovered - A Collection Of Daft Funk Samples"

  • This was most certainly sampled. I chopped it up myself and listened precisely to the Eddie Johns song around the 2:23 mark (not to this vid btw lol), and it sounds exactly the same as "One More Time". Especially in the intro of the song, where it's just the sample minus the drums and voice. You can hear the dropping of the bass and how there are strings that play right before the snare/bass drop.

Daft Punk is amazing regardless. And props to Brian for explaining everything well.

  • Then again it might just be a freaky coincidence, trust me it does happen.

  • no its not. Daft Punk is known to sample and if they did so what its still a good song.

  • um as a fan I am aware of that. this song is also known for being one of the rare original ones they made. They even stated themselves that this one didn't use any samples. so there.

  • Um as a producer and as a Audio engineer im telling you they did sample this im a fan also but im not going to lie to myself.

  • then I just don't get the fact that they denied sampling this one. As far as I know they've been pretty open about their sample records. :v

  • It happens sometimes.

  • That does sound shockingly similar, but I think it could be a complete coincidence. If they did sample this song they would've had first hear the song, sample seperate, isolated notes and mix them into One More Time. It would'nt be hard to create (or recreate) those notes from scratch because it's such a tiny sample.

What really puts me off the idea is that they admit sampling in other tracks, and don't feel any shame over it. So why would they hide this one?

  • yeah i think that too, mainly for aerodynamic and one more time, i think they sampled and then Re-played them with synths and stuff

  • no... all the subtleties that exist in this particular sample are there... its highly unlikely daft punk made "one more time" which contains those exact same subtleties and nuances in the recording... and not only the subtleties the fact that THIS ONE SONG contains all the things necessary to recreate daft punk's one more time i think solidifies the fact that they sampled this song... i love one more time by the way i remember where i was when i first heard it... awesome song

  • "keep denying"... ugh. It reminds me of the man from 1996 episode of south park; the guy speak english perfectly but somehow mr. scientist apparently don't want to believe it. Daft Punk have admitted themselves using samples from those songs times and times again.

But then again 50% of youtube ranters are just trolls.

ANYWAY, this shows well how daft Punk aren't just a bunch of copiers, they have a pretty good ear to make One More Time out of this. It's simply stunning!

  • New game: Let's cut out random parts of songs and paste them together to make other songs!

  • I'm convinced. They can't keep denying using samples for this track now.

  • haha sounds soo cool.

  • Nothing is new

  • not true.

  • soooooooooooooo did the Punks PAY ohh I mean share some love (money love that iz!) with Mr. Johns? Because IF they didn't they iz soooo wrong!!

  • Oh you mean they should share some of the money, like all the people who go online and just download, NEVER sharing anything with the original artist?

  • Hey Brian, fellow sample finder here. I noticed you used the first occurrence of the brass for the main sample. I found a brass sample closer to the middle of the song that I think fits waaay more.

In fact, I would bet THAT's the sample. You'll hear it.

    Just lettin ya know. ;D

  • I did an update of this one called "Discovered - Make one more time from more spell on you"

Also, you may be right, BUT I did another video called "Daft Punk Chop Loop & Jet/ One More Time & More Spell On You" where I put my chop on a set of Pioneer CDJ 400's and actually catch JETS :)

  • Also, as a side note, when I was trying to spot this one, I listened to the guitar and bass line insted of the brass.

  • Ah nice. Yeah I was just listening to More Spell on You at 123bpm one night seeing if I could tell whether or not they actually sampled the song or they had their own brass line play it, and then sampled that (which is a popular theory). But, I heard the brass at around 2:32 (when played at 123bpm), and it's definitely a sample. Caught me off guard actually.

    Anyway, love the videos!

  • Ah tricksy, I always wondered where they got that sound from

  • Holy... 3:39 to 4:11 its really One More Time... Good Job Dude...

  • I did an update of this video called "Discovered - Make One More Time from More Spell On You". in that vid, I show where the samples are located and make some tighter chops

  • shit... that is one more time... from 2:40 to 3:06... im a daft punk fan... i will not hate them because of what they do to their songs... instead ill think that they made it a bit better...

  • dude daft punk is pretty nice they took a change up and made it into a song and dude nice listening cus i have listen to that song about three or four times and got nowhere

  • What Daft Punk did was just choose two different parts of the trumpet parts and repeat them over and over again to make what Daft Punks "one more time" has for a melody.

  • hey man thats quite an ear you've got haha. any chance you could tell me what program your using?

  • Hey brain,

i was think if u could do a VID of:

    Grandmaster Flash - The Message

    as the origin of:

Ice Cube Check Yourself By Ice Cube

    Thanks...

  • Very cool video!

I was wondering (sorry, I'm not a DJ, just a sound engineer): what software did you use?

  • If im right, he uses a Numark Mixmeister Pro4:P

  • amazing

  • I liked what you came up with. If possible can you give me the One More Time you made out of More Spell On You, before you changed the key and bpm? Sounded a lot better.

  • great... u r a genius...

  • You are really cool, dad. Thanks for the vids.

  • Very interesting and helpful, and I completely agree with the view that sampling is a valid way to make music that can lead listeners with enquiring minds to find all sorts of great stuff. Is't not musicianship and composing in the traditional sense but so what. Collages and modern art aren't the same as old masters. I'd hoped this arguement against samples had died out during arguements about hip hop - Stetsasonic were right James Brown was old 'Til Eric and Rakim came out with "I Got Soul"

  • Why are so many people hating on Daft if they said they never sampled some songs. There's really not a whole lot of proof, things could just be a coincidence. A lot of songs sound the same so w/e.

  • Are you kidding me? There style of music originates from sampling... And there are a ton of songs out there like 'Release the beast' that you can obviously tell that is the sample which was used for robot rock... No one is HATING on daft... They are just showing what samples they used and how they do what we love to hear.

  • I don't understand why Daft Punk won't say they've used samples in some songs. It doesn't make them less talented, in fact, it makes them MORE talented. They found pieces of music INSIDE a piece of music by itself, jeez, I wish I could fucking do that.

  • I hear ya, man. Who knows why they didn't credit some of thier sample material. At any rate, It's made for some intiresting research.

  • Yeah, I mean..they even deny using samples sometimes, it's annoying. However, it does make it all interesting -- I just wish they'd realize it doesn't take away from their music.

  • I think they do it to keep the mystery and get people involved in the music themselves because look how many people are enlightened to find Eddie Johns' song now and it's only because it wasn't laid out for people to find. Thanks for finding it. Your vids rock man.

  • u sure ur not friends with Daft Punk? hahah very nice job

  • You should watch the last video response I posted. It's an update of this video. I break it down a bit more

  • Nice Job man. I too have confirmed this using FL Studio. One thing I can say is that Daft Punk does deserve a lot of credit for what they came up with. A seemingly simple as it was to loop those certain phrases it creates a completely different (happier) mood / feeling that the original choon.

    Good work!

  • Dude nice chops!

  • Btw forgot to mention on my other comment, I like how you actually do the chopjobs and edit them and sometimes even do the "uncle brian playing both loops at once after editting" but I've seen other videos that JUST put the main parts in and run off laughing because the grass tickles their balls *coughcough*

  • nice work man, just for those of you who are afraid of this, a quick note, Bangalter has denied any sampling, and as you sai, is probably inspiration since this sounds like it's not the main recurring theme of the song. Anyway. For future reference-you don't have to dig deep if you dig in the right places. For example, and I don't know if it included it on the Discovery Notes i got it off amazon, but in the Interstella 5555 info, it includes sampling info.

  • Where? I own it and have read the ending credits and nothing... is there a booklet or something I need to be looking at?

  • Well I found a bunch of mine from the daft punk movie based off of Discovery-Interstella 5555. You might wanna check D.A.F.T. and Electroma's DVD booklets, also could you do a little thing relating the One More Time and Aerodynamic beats/melodies? After listening to the Daft Punk remix of Aerodyanmic I hear myself singing the words to One More Time really fast at the guitar+asian thing part of Aerodynamic.

  • Oh, and by the way... I did an updated video called "Discovered - Make "One More Time" from "More SPell On You". See if you like that chop job a little more.

Soon, I am going to do a video where I catch a jet (or phase) on the CDJs using One More Time and my chop job :) It's there, man. It's really there. HA!

  • in one more time the bass sounds deeper

  • Well yeah, they have not only EQd it quite different, but added thier own stuff to it. Isn't technology cool?

  • yh technologic is a cool song. but its kind of wierd. even for daft punk lol.

  • Wow. It sounds just like One more time.

  • fuck me LOL! nice & thank you

chic- soup for one & modjo- lady Have a go =)

  • I've done that one already. I think it's Origins 4

  • u gota admit the way they sampled the song is brilliant...BTW brian is the software ur usin sony ACID?

  • Nah, Mixmeister Pro 6. It IS brilliant, eh? I did an updated video about 2 months ago where I break down where the samples are in the song if you want to take a look.. it's called "Discovered - Make One More Time from More Spell On You"

  • by the way... which sowftware do you use??? i've tried to take samples with Adobe Audition 2.0 but your sw looks way easier... take care and I really admire your work...

  • He mentions it in "Origins 10 The Music of Daft Punk" (the one which hes doing a video response to.

    Cheers

  • greeeeat job, man...

  • That is crazy.

    Nice video!

  • I thought your sequencing was perfect enough. I really like the vid.

  • awesome so enlightening ! don't be so self deprecating, I think your great !!!!!

  • If you haven't already, you should check my home page. I did a new video on this song and a few other DP tunes as well.

  • thanks for a nice vid =) love daft punk ^^

  • dude, i love you, i could absolutely watch these videos all day

  • Have you seen the new ones? Check my channel. I just did several new Daft Punk chop jobs

  • man, i'm checking them out as we speak

is there any way to talk other than youtube? i'd love to talk about music production and sampling and everything man, you seem to know your stuff and these videos are really awesome!

  • I'm on Skype, but I'm in the process of putting some new videos together at the moment. You can find me that at briansredd at hotmail dot com

  • what about aerodynamic and harder, better, faster, stronger?

  • You should look at the new video on my home page

  • I watched and marked it as favorite. But I was wondering if you could find the samples to those two.

  • Got a Harder Better Faster Stronger video going. Will be up in a day or so. Stay tuned!

  • very truuue

i never heard it before but once you cut it up i got it

    amazing job

  • I've got a new video on this subject if you are intirested. You can check out my home page for the video which is featured there.

  • Id have to say one of the coolest things of Daft Punk is how they find a sample, then recreate it. Some samples are just blattenly the original version of the song. But many are parts of songs that they actually sit down and recreate with instruments. You dont believe me? Go listen to "Voyager." That is "Get Down Saturday Night" from Oliver Cheatham. The guys always mix it when they do DJ sets. From a musician's standpoint (aswell as DJ) these guys are genio
