I snapped a photo, and he totally noticed me doing that, even though he was running south on Nanluoguxiang at the time. Then I noticed Kim Gordon, and the child of Kim and Thurston (?), and others, including the dudes trailing the band with the vid equipment that made this very well-edited video possible.
I had to go and say hi to Kim Gordon, so I did. =)
I also ran into Sonic Youth several times on Monday the 23rd in Beijing; while eating breakfast a block from my house, I was like, "Hey, that guy looks like a slightly chubby version of Thurston Moore" -- and what do you know, it was dude himself.
(cont.) Then I went for coffee and the place was mysteriously not doing business that day, so I took a different route and biked home, and ran into the band and entourage again in another area hutong. I left it to the videoraphers to do their thing, and they really didn't let *anybody* down with this work! GOOD JOB! KEEP IT UP, SPLI-T WORKS! =)
