Well i know for sure that one Boss 429 has been lost. My parents had one back in the late 70's that burnt to the ground because of a carb leak. Dont kown what happend to the engiine but the car was junked.

@TheBobafett13 bigger motor sure but that 390 out of that amx was built for preformance with the guys in big block cars ... and the amx looks batter its not too long like the stang.... plus im bias i own an amc and i know they will out preform most big 3 cars no problem ...... dont get me wrong i was raised a ford boy but in all actuality amc's are more rare then the stang .... thats why not many ppl know what they actually are

@hatchetknight The boss 429 engine was designed for nascar racing. If thats not preformance I dont know what is. But youre right the amx has a beautifull look that no other car comes near to. I'll admit to im bias ;)

My family has owned around 8 mustangs (me dad mom). At one time I came close to getting a AMC rebel machine. Only 2326 were ever made. But I passed. Worst mistake ever. It had a 390CI just like the amx. But yah most people would recognize a mustang looong before any amc.

@TheBobafett13 yes it was but in a mustang it is just a 429 not the nascar edition .... if you wanna go back like that amc built a 401 for nascar it was a bored and stroked 390 with far more horses.... my pops had a 73 trans american javelin with a 401 police interceptor and 727 it was running these stangs down like nothing .... my mom has owned a mustang my whole life they are awesome cars but for brute force it would be amc anyday

@hatchetknight same engine 1.5 points lower on compression and cam was calmed down for the street the street versions needed a little help to get the big horse out of them with a few parts but same engine. it is also the same engine bob glidden dominated prostock with for 30 yrs. and john kasse builds another updated version that all the ford teams in nhra and ihra run now.I to am an AMC fan but 70 was their only real glory year across the board.SCCA,SS/AT,SS/MT rebel machine never ran nascar:(
