@atomictrain513 its a casio fh100, it can shoot 120, 240, 420, 1000 fps, but be careful the images need loads of reworking to present them on the tube
leo the noise level of the launcher has'nt changed in years I remember having a set when i was about four (around 2000) and the launcher from the set was just as noisy.
I'd love to see something like a take along race around a hotwheels track, but considering their centre of gravity, I can't see that happening any time soon.
Leo, could you possibly take a look at character building doctor who ? it's a construction toy that focus' on the British sci fi doctor who, it is on the pricy side but would be brilliant if you could. Thanks :)
@racegrooves hi, i know your a avid hot wheels tuber, i did look very carefully at your content before producing this video
it's funny to me hot wheels has not changed a bit in oh so many years, thats sort of nice in a way but also dangerous, kids today are far more difficult to entertain than we ever were, far more detractions going on, Internet / games being the big one
i did like your channel policy video, its something i should have done a long time ago
@leokimvideo Mattel is quite aware of how electronics has changed the way that most kids are entertained. This one was created about ten years ago and it gets re-issued from time to time. I can't keep track because like I mentioned, it doesn't get sold in the U.S. As for making a Channel Policy video, I haven't seen it done for other Channels but with me having a dedicated, focused channel that is family friendly, I thought that it was a good idea. Thanks and best of luck to you!
@silverpegasus1765 i wonder if this design had a life even before that, it does have the feel of a old classic set without the silly themes you see getting about today
@leokimvideo It in fact was an old F1 set which I got when I was small! The track is exactly the same! The booster has not changed at all! Lovely set!
i always wanted a hotheels set with a car lancher when i was young.
the best i got was theone where you clip it on to the table with the G clamp that it came with and let it roll down the ramp through the loop-the-loop and then over the jump :P
I got the yellow color shifters car. I haven't found a metallic color shifters here YET. But I doubt that I will even CARE to find one of these, let me show you my likeness timeline:
Brillliant Leo!! With 537 very appreciative viewers in less than one day and, seemingly, a new area to thoroughly explore further, this one and its sequels could go really viral!!!! Great stuff!!
Honestly I find those launchers the best, they could be quieter but for I while HotWheels was only making those stupid fold and go play sets. I used to have a bunch of track, but then some no name brands got mixed in, some of the actual HotWheels track lost, and so it didn't really fit together any more so I got rid of it. Still have all my cars and I wish I could buy more track, but lack the funds and more importantly the space. OK, I have the funds, but that's for LEGOs! Awesome video!
@scottthewaterwarrior when i went shopping for a hot wheels set i steered clear of the themed sets, they looked tacky. I did my best to buy some thing which I remembered from years ago
gotta say hot wheels is a survivor in a very competitive toy environment, mind you I have seen individual cars for under $2 so you really can't go wrong, the color shifters I felt were overpriced at almost $8 ( in Australia ), but they are still very cool to play with
@TheNw1218 i'm a little surprised as well, mind you it is a fairly inexpensive toy overall, it's basically a classic toy considering how long it's been around for.
My cousin bought that set a few weeks back-there were 5 grown men in a shed, feeding cars onto the track and cheering on the big crashes-very retro feel.
Hypercolor. The paint contained a thermochromic pigment that changed between two colors with hot and cold. Its a old technology and has been around for all most 35 years.
It's best knowen for t-shirts in the 1980's. I know the paint is over $300 per L
@littlegalah again you bring to my audience knowledge extensive web searching failed to achieve, in a work
amazing
i never had colour ( color USA spelling ) changing shirts in the 80's, but I did have a number of Kiss T shirts which would all be weird collectibles for some.
@leokimvideo It's only the red pigment that is thermochromic and will go transperant. As a paint you can use it 2 ways as a overlay or a mixer. As a overlay you can go from red to any colour. As a mixer it must be 50% of the colour used.
OK leo I know about the spelling. firefox respells every thing to US spelling.
@lfairchild1112 ok, i'm moving to the USA where Lego is far cheaper, Hot Wheels as well, I have been told IKEA stuff there is half and sometimes two thirds cheaper than Australia
What is going on where I live, it's just becoming the place to rip off consumers, i think this subject deserves a very special video, times up big corporations..!
I think the way those cars change colour is with thermochromic pigments (literally heat-colour pigments) which change colour according to their temperature. They've been used for quite some time in things like baby thermometer strips but they're starting to appear elsewhere now. Hope this helps!
@dkbmaestrorules well if thats the case you have done far better than what comes up on google searches, on a query how do colour ( color USA spelling ) shifters work 99% of web entries state you need hot and cold water..lol
then again ask a silly question and you know what your going to get
will the internet make us smarter...hmmmm, i'm not sure.
@baxter22071990 its a fail because the action happened literally off camera and out of focus
as for hot wheels cars to me they have not changed that much, loads of the designs are based on 60's 70's cars so in a way they remain timeless, possibly the paint schemes are now more elaborate, the track and joiners are exactly the same, it was freaky playing with this stuff again
Hot Wheels is the Potato Head of toy cars..!.....classic
@leokimvideo In my local shops, I pay about €30 for that, €25 when it's christmas! P.S: when will you tell us the kre-o contest competition results? Nfuego
I am surprised to see so many cars in one set. The last 3 sets I bought my sons came with only one car, even though they were racing sets. The set in my hotwheel video came with just one car and it was one of the worst performing cars. I found other cars worked better and no name non-hotwheel cars seemed to work the best. They were light and had fast wheels.
@kkehoe5 having 5 cars was great BUT only 3 really worked well, the longer heavier models seemed to suit the very fast track, as for the cost of Hot Wheels cars well I see them for sub $2 and even close to $1, so the fact there are 5 cars didn't really impress me considering how inexpensive they are
some cars worked far better going around backwards, as weird as this sounds
...Found it! Thermochromic paint / Thermochromism. Wikipedia has a write up on it and Google brings up many results. Interesting indeed...of course it's nothing new, but I haven't seen it since I was a kid (hypercolour tshirts, 'moodrings') so I've never questioned it.
@dan110024 yes I was typing in how do hot wheels color shifters work, and all I got back was you need hot and cold water..! Loads of ad spam pages to boot
I thought for a while all this was a set up, I was never trained in key word use at school, i'm a pre internet guy..!
@Auzziable i looked very carefully at what was on the shelf, loads of hot wheels sets are partial sets or stuck on some crazy fad theme, i chose one which reminded me of the classic stuff without all the modern day spin
i was also after sheer speed and crash action, and hell I certainly got that
This appears to be a development of a similar set I used to have when I was younger called 'Criss Cross Crash', that used pretty much the same system to boost the cars along, maybe Hot Wheels have the 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality.
@theonlyadsrulz yes I chose this set because it reminded me of stuff I had when I was a kid, it was a real trip back in time with what is a classic toy of sorts, but I do see loads of sets following themes which distract from action and speed
i think I had the old gravity driven loop set way back in the 70's, I can't remember the very noisy car launching system
@leokimvideo You might remember Snake and Mongoose then if you had a set back in the 70's. I still wished I had those 2 cars, they are high value for anyone who still has them. Something like 2000 US dollars if they are in mint condition.
