@RazaAli33 What's wrong with you? The truth is 1st Chinese you idiot. And all who thumbs up him nonsensely are people who just got influenced by the American's China-Hating Education.
Urdu/Hindi more then English and spanish as they are spoken, read and written by more then 1 billion people in India, Pakistan, Bengladesh, Afghanistan, Srilanka, parts of Middle East and Africa!!! so spanish and English and Third or fourth
languages are the valious treasures of every national and/or ethnic identities, English go to hell! America recover all your indigenous languages as officials now!
As much as people say Mandarin is spoken the most, where are all the people, I think that stat is flawed i`ve been to many countries and there are always people who speak English, im talking Germany, France, Italy, Brazil, etc, the same can`t be said about Mandarin.
Mandarin is spoken by about 50% of the population in China, the other 50% can't speak Mandarin at all. Even 50% who speak Mandarin many speak it as a second language not native language. Even those who speak it as a native language, speak different varieties of Mandarin which are mutually incomprehensible to each other like German/English. Beijing Mandarin (Putonghua) is the one dialect chosen to be Chinese. 200-300 million may speak it. Nobody knows not even the Chinese.
Also Spanish and Portuguese are extremely similar, they share 92% vocabulary , and basically the same grammar, some scholars regard these dialects of the same language , but dialects are ussually spoken by a few people unlike spanish and portuguese. Its not rare to find a Brazilean speaking with an Argentinean in Buenos Aires airport, they have almost not problem communciating
@gypsymoonac I, an English speaker, just spent two weeks in Brazil with two Mexicans on business. We could not communicate with the taxi drivers, restaurant waiters and people on the street. The only place we could communicate was in hotels where they spoke English. Maybe it was just my experience but I expected their Spanish to have helped. Maybe it was Mexican Spanish. I don't know. It took 20 minutes and three waiters to order dinner. I'm not sure they get Spanish or vice verse.
@gypsymoonac This is so wrong. Portuguese and Spanish languagesare totally different! Both come from the same linguistic family, but they are different languages. Like all similar languages, portuguese and spanish words are similar, but that doesn't make the two languagesin one language, as you said!
spanish PRIMRA! french is too overrated you have to speak from the back of the mouth there are more accents for spanish spanish is titled language of beauty french titled love more like overrated!

I just want to say that PORTUGUESE is the ONLY language that can imitate the other languages without ANY accent :)

it doesn't matter how many people speak a language. You'll never need Bengali abroad for example, or even mandarin.
That's why the title says "most spoken languages in the world" and not the "10 most useful languages of comunications in the world".
And who's the idiot who said that nobody understood him when he spoke Spanish in Brazil, seriously...

I think this is tallied by the number of people who speak it natively. Worldwide, the top 5 international are:
1. Mandarin
2. English
3. Hindi
4. Spanish
5. French
These results I said are not totally accurate, theres a reason why it is called an estimate, and these are definatelly subject to change.
