How about because it costs us more money and resources to recycle than to make new products. We have 3 times as many trees as we did in the 1920s and are growing more all the time. Natural resources are becoming less scarce as we continually find more of them and as technologies change. Human time on the other hand is continually becoming more valuable. We have plenty of space for landfills as they usually just become nice parks and play areas. Recycling is a waste of time and resources.
