Many people who are very busy have these problems with keeping their homes clean. So to recap: Her place is messy, but your unclean character is much more noticeable. Say something positive; she's a real person God made.
I have family (not the family I live with thank god) that are packrats. They have boxes stacked to the ceiling and shit everywhere and you can't even walk because of the layers of pizza boxes n soad bottles... believe me... I had to help them move a damn hospital bed in the place n they couldn't even fit it because all the shit. Your house just needs some extra help... get that "close" friend of yours to help you sort through all the stuff. It's time well spent and you will feel great.

I have seen MUCH worse honey.
I have seen houses where you couldnt even see an inch of the floor so much there was stuff on it; papers, cans, FECES, and unidentified stuff.
