  • me and my friend were talking about it the other day, and we realized that Willie is in a class by himself. If I saw him in real life he would literally be unapproachable, not because he's a dick, far from it, but because we feel like we aren't worthy to take up his time. He's a fucking legend.

  • dads fave song miss him

  • Why the literal FUCK is there an OBAMA ad on a Willie Nelson video?

    Fucking America these damn days.

  • @Jeffdunham186, you do know Willie is a Democrat?

  • @JDL9615

    Obama Isn't even a democrat

I don't like politicians of any sort these days

  • @Jeffdunham186

Approximately one third (1/3) of all Cowboys in the 'old west' were African-American.

  • @TheMarinerutgers

Who said it's a race thing

  • @Jeffdunham186 Easy enough to skip the ad and ignore Michelle in the corner while I enjoy the song.

  • Well, if my ancestors Powhatan and Cherokee had controled the illegal immigration there wouldn't of been Cowboys. The World and the Country need the Real Cowboys myth and the movie myth. Willie tells the saddle tramp side of it which was a lot of work for 30 a month and found and a lot of danger. Wonderful Song.

  • my daddys song

  • I'm a cowgirl and wish the goverment would leave the cowboys and cowgirls alone. This song is so true about how cowboys are disappering. This is an awsome video you have made about cowboys.

  • my hubby has a Indian heritage and he saw a tshirt for sale online with the following on front "all my heroes have killed cowboys"

  • @constancelena Is that supposed to be funny?

That shirt speaks poorly for Native Americans (Indians) if that is something they can be proud of. And NO, I am not excusing the cruelty of some white people during westward expansion. The American cowboy probably had little to do with that. Unless you believe Hollywood, then everything I wrote is wrong.

  • @JDL9615 hmm..husband's ancestors incl Powhatan and Pocahontas--mst pple recognize names but not story--it orig colony--Jamestown1606--they had strong oral history tradition that proves Powhatan taken advantage of & Pocahontas love story a liie--truly was captured, kept on ship off shore about a yr, giving birth to son--then went England & she boarded return ship return suddenly quickly--her people suspected poison as it happened so quick. WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR ANCESTOR TREATED THAT WAY

  • @JDL9615 oops meant Pocahontas quickly died--no my husb is NOT MILITANT just extremely frustrated but yes there are a huge number of militant tshirts out there--worn at pow wows I guess--unless ya want to get beat up..I think people should respect Indians because they truly did get a very raw deal..and he hears some bad stuff yet today..he wears only a tshirt w his tribe's name and trade beads..truly sucks

  • @JDL9615 yikes! sorry---killed her as she was Powhatan's favorite child and if she returned and he learned all--he would have wiped them out!

  • Makes me miss my cowboying days in Wyoming.

  • Thank you!

My heros are still cowboys ... but not the fake "cowboys" like GWB.

My heros are the farmers and ranchers who still work hard and feed this country!

  • @BoudiccaBlanc When did GWB become a cowboy?

I worry about ranchers and farmers today because aggressive gov't is causing them to shut down because of increasing regulations they can't afford and taxes they can't pay. I HOPE you got the CHANGE you were looking for.

  • @JDL9615

He never was; that is why I called him a "fake cowboy". He walked around in cowboy boots & cowboy hat; talking about his "ranch" to decieve the American people

(I don't think that GWB ever did an honest day's work in his life ...jmho)

  • @JDL9615

Didn't vote for Obama either ....

    Obama = Neo-Liberal

    GWB ..= Neo-Conservative

Both are puppets of the "globalists" and both would sell the American people (every one of us) "down the river" for their banker and corporate buddies!

I worry about farmers and ranchers too. The taxes are too high, there are too many regulations and the family farms and ranches are being forced out of business by "Agri-business" and Monsanto, etc.

(Love the song and the pictures)

  • @BoudiccaBlanc For the record, I didn't agree with everything GWB did. But I met with the man several times before and as Governor. He really is one of the good guys, though not perfect.

    Let me guess: Ron Paul?

And that "Neo" term is overly used and used incorrectly most of the time.

  • @JDL9615

Yep (But I know he won't win).

GWB ... My opinion of the Bushes is not very high. I think GWB would have been a better person if "poppy's" money hadn't smoothed over the rough and difficult times of his life... jmo.

I am sorry that I brought up politics on this thread. I had no intention of starting a political discussion. I was comparing a real cowboy to a "wanna be" cowboy (lots of them out there)

You've made a nice video and song. :))

  • @BoudiccaBlanc This has been fun. You want to find wanna be cowboys? Hollywood is full of better examples of wanna be's!!

Glad you liked the video, it was fun doing that too.

  • @JDL9615

You' re probably right about Hollywood.

I have enjoyed talking to you too.

I would like to thank you again for uploading such a nice video with the song. :))

  • @BoudiccaBlanc amen brother

  • @TheKyza77 tell daddy to get his finger outta there

  • Makes me miss my bull ridin days.

  • Lighten one up for you Willie but i sing," My heros always been Willie!"

  • Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery....gotta love 'em.

  • Clint Eastwood was a cool cowboy

  • @leftyangler "I'm your huckleberry"-Doc Holliday, Tombstone

"Yoo hoo!, (Colt revolver clicks) I'll make you famous"-Billy the Kid, Young Guns II

"I've shot many a sassy bandit with just my pistol"-Augustus McCrae, Lonesome Dove

    Good stuff indeed.

  • I love that song

  • Cowboy heros

  • This was one of my dads favorite songs r.i.p dad 09/1/90

  • GO SOONERS!!!!!!!!

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Willies like a cowboy you never know what he'll come up with next or where he's going or where he's coming from, I hope he gos to Heaven, I think he will.

  • MY DAD WAS Cowboy HE TELM ME GOOD DAYS

  • When I was a little girl, I used to hear this, "G G, Momma doesn't want you grow up to be a cowgirl!" "How about you, Dad?" My old dad hmmm...., "What'll be will be...!"

My Heros Have Always been cowboys, I love this lyric!

  • C-L-A-S-S-I-C.

  • Cowboys look very tough! ^.^ But Im confused... Were Cowboys Irish or English men? And where did they live, in USA? But USA is African and Indian nation, and Chinese too i guess. Did they leave America after African slaves won Civilan war?

  • @Katya1237 What are you talking about?

  • @XFry333X Im talking about, asking actually, who cowboys were and where did they come from

  • @XFry333X but Ive already read about it on Wikipedia. I thought that only africans and indians live in usa and that europeans are minority there.

  • @Katya1237 I think you need to do some more reading, especially history. Also, try and make sure what you read hasn't been approved by the government first.

  • @Katya1237 cowboys were/are all races and nationalities, all that is needed isa caring for the stock, a hard work ethic an a love of the outdoors.

  • @Katya1237 no, the major outlaw/cowboy period occurred after the civil war when cattle driving was still a way of life and large parts of America were still unsettled. America is a blend of every race on earth, but yes a lot were Irish/english/german or of European origin.

  • @TecDiver05 Thank you and everybody for explanation ^^ On wikipedia a also read about american Indians. Their culture is very beautiful! USA has short but very interesting history

  • @Katya1237 yes it does! glad I could help.

  • Great lyrics.

  • i miss you papa! thanks for raising me right

  • @MrTblood13 beautiful :)

  • seriously how can u not like this song?

  • Nice job cowboy! Does the genre justice ... from a cowboy

  • It's too bad that corporate America has waged war on ranchers and cowboys. The people that built America from the East coast westward.

Now you have agroindustrial complexes that put them out of work in the name of "progress".

    That shit just ain't right.

  • Some were true OutLaws~~ FTW

  • rip Barty Bartlett i love you and i m sorry i couldnt save you.

  • why are these stupid ads coming on all of a sudden??

  • if we still used a rope an a tall tree crime would sure go down

  • Listen to my song picture it's a sound track in the right hands..i did my best but it can go alot further ..Merry Christmas.....Ross crawford

  • Stingray>>>you forgot Hell Bitch!! but of course I own her : ) and she is a grey!

  • I knew a cowboy once, in the Army...he was quiet, pleasant and no bull shit.

  • god bless your uncle john from my home

  • long live john marston

  • If only the world was only Cowboy's, it would be a perfect & honest world!

  • @BeasleyTV y the whole world consisting of cow wranglers...

  • 35 pepol the hero is the justin beiber :D

  • @rosemarie443 I think maybe you misunderstood me. I was saying the group of horse thieves committed murder. Gus, Woodrow, Newt, Deets, and Pea Eye hanged them for it. That's not what I was referring to as murder. I call that justice. Swift and sure.

  • ***THUMBS UP***** one of the very best

  • The pictures of real cowboys and a great Willie Nelson song makes this the best Cowboy tribute on Youtube....great job!

  • @AZpuncher517 I know Lonesome Dove's a movie. There's the movie version of the American cowboy, and there's reality. Now, that being said, in my humble opinion it's probably one of the more realistic movies about them in the 1870's. They weren't all pretty boys. The good guys weren't all good. Sometimes the bad guys won. They had LONG, MISERABLE days in the saddle. But they got it done. I just think it's a great movie and this song and video reminded me of it.

  • @rosemarie443 They did commit murder. They killed at least one of the men they stole the horses from, killed one of their own (Frog Lip) who was wounded in the gun fight, and later the gang leader shot, hanged, and burned two farmers. I know it's a movie, but real crimes like that happened. Law and order wasn't as established in some places then as it is today, and sometimes justice had to be handled by citizens. Besides, in the movie, they were Texas Rangers. Probably the only law men around.

  • @Stingray8854 yes real people got hanged for stealling, and what they called justice was fast and quick, no staying in jail at the country expense. and NO they did not commit murder. they did what the people at that time called justice. they hanged the bad guys. in this day in age, yes they probably did something wrong, but not back then. you have to covert your mind back to the old days.

  • long live cowboys yeeeehaaaaaaa

  • This's got nuthin to do with Lonesome Dove, which was fer a fact in parts based on real life ranchers of great fame, and uh, it ain't got nuthin' to do with real workin' cowpunchers an' that's a fact, Many of us was just born into it an then found that we took to it and then it took us untill hell, we don't know much if it ain't pertainin' to a cow. Shore like ol' Willie's music, Thanks pard!

  • @rosemarie443 I believe that the punishment should fit the crime. Then and now. So for committing murder, yes I think they should have been hanged.

  • Comment removed

  • @JDL9615 Ha! I'm a huge fan of Lonesome Dove. In fact, I believe it's one of the best movies EVER. Actually, I did leave someone out. Jake Spoon. He'd "crossed the line" as Augustus McCrae put it, by joining a group of murdering horse thieves.

  • @Stingray8854 i watched Lonesome Dove , and you think that thoses 4 people should have been hanged, that is what has given the west a bad name. i will say that the law in those days was kind thin.

  • Looks like Augustus McCrae, Woodrow Call, Joshua Deets, Dish Boggett, Pea Eye Parker, and Newt Dobbs ought to be in this video.

  • @Stingray8854 Looks like you didn't leave anuone out!

  • @Stingray8854 Indeed sir, I'd also like to mention Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Cowboys, etc from Tombstone movie.

  • awesome song

  • Tobad the Yankees Ruin the cowboy way.

  • Cowboys rock, I am married to one of the best ones I have ever known and love him with all my heart. You don't know much if you don't know a COWBOY!

  • @Okieluv85 Well, I hope COWGIRLS can be loved the same!

  • @JDL9615 Don't worry baby cowgirls are loved too... yippy kai yay

  • Doesn't get any more classic than this. And an absolutely fantastic photo montage.

  • I'm a cowboy. This is my song.

  • I met Willie in Las Vegas behind Caesars Palace when he was playing there in the early 90's. He stepped off the bus and he only let me through. He spoke with me and took pictures with me,we talked about horses his Quarter horses,my Arabians He was so nice and funny : ) I told him this was my favorite song of his! and it still is.Your an exceptional man with a golden voice. And I still have the pics of us : )

  • Fantastic video!! Saved this one!! Shared in on facebook and will be back to it!!

  • Picking up hookers instead of pen.

  • The cowboys aren't all gone.

  • I burned up my childhood days........

  • Spent a lifetime in the saddle, saddly now can't do so, cause of ill health n old age , but this song still makes me yearn to be back in the saddle on my Smokey. still have my saddles made one of them myself real old half seat hard seat style, blisters yer butt. won't have it any other way though. now jist listen to the songs n cry sometime BLESS ALL THE OLD COWBOYS . PS. I live in the UK.

  • @SchmoozeMinkey With all due respect to you, your father, Waylon, Willie, Hank (Sr and Jr), Merle Haggard, George Jones, and many others, I have to respectfully disagree. There's some VERY TALENTED, GREAT country artists out there today. For example, have you ever heard "This Is Country Music" and "Old Alabama" by Brad Paisley? Man, that's GOOD STUFF! Sure there's a lot that aren't that "country", but they're reaching new fans. Don't give up on the new guys. And girls.

  • great song...weird how almost 20% of old cowboys were black, but dont see many photos of them in popular media.

  • Not real sure why there's 36 dislikes...This is REAL music

  • My dad was a cowboy until his folks sold the ranch in the Mojave desert. He carried on the tradition as a rhythm guitarist in a local country band. He set my heart forever in the love of pure country. Listening to Willie and Merle and Don Williams keeps me in the faith although 'country' artists today now haven't a clue. He passed away in 1974 and I still have his old flat-top Martin. It's over a century old.

  • A tribute to my Old man who started punchin cattle in 1933. A true cowboy. Love you Dad. May your boots and spurs still jangle.

  • Willie Nelson is #1 I hope I see him in concert

  • God Bless Uncle John.

Who gave His Life In WWII. And is Buried in Africa.

And My Gold Star GrandMother Chrissie who was Sadly & Proudly a GoldStar Mother.

And We Pray for All those who have given Their Lives for The USA.

  • @EatMyNads

Totally agree man... I can't believe what Country Music is coming to now days.

  • @kravenfox -country music nowadays isn't even country...I use to [think I...] hate country...til 'new' country came along; now I realize just how excellent all those old country/western tunes really were... and I love 'em now! This is one of my faves to be sure.

  • @matthewme23 thank Johnny Cash for that

  • 36 people meant to hit the "Like" button. right?

  • What beautiful music! God bless the USA! But I'm French-born American, my grandfather was in the Air Force.

  • this is a terrific song and the man spent a lot of time making this fablous video, love it

  • 35 crack heads don't like this?

  • unfortunately i can relate to this song....

  • Texass try WYOMING!!!!

  • @hyded100 You can go anywhere in the world and draw a picture of Texas in the dirt. Then point to and ask "What is that"?

    It will be instantly recongnized.

Try that with a drawing of Wyoming.

  • the greatest song of all!!! as far as us cowboys go !!!!!!!! thank you!

  • damn i wish i lived in the 1800s i hate todays time

  • @alienbigfoot15698 willie nelson started in the saloons then.

  • @alienbigfoot15698 can grow all the weed u want with no fear of getting busted buy the cops

  • @alienbigfoot15698 shit boy I was about to write something just like it!

  • @alienbigfoot15698 If you lived in the 1800s, you might wish you'd lived in the 1700s, because you'd hate those days. Its' nostalgia. Every decade I've lived through, I've thought I hated it, then I wished for it when the next one came along. The human spirit can never be fulfilled completely. You'll always want something you can't have. You'll learn that with time; we all do, eventually.

  • @gamerguy0903 NO i have never wanted to live in any other time than i am living in now. just look at all we have. right at this time air conditioning. why would i want to live back in the early 1900 when we didn'l have AC, TV, great phones, washing machines, dryers. refigs instead of ice boxes. and of course the internet. you only think that you want to go back. the good old days were not the good old days. we are living in great days at this time.

  • @gamerguy0903 na i wanna live in the 1800s my generation of a kid is fucked

  • @gamerguy0903 Well said gamerguy

  • @alienbigfoot15698 i don't know man, there were a lot of nasty diseases back then that couldn't be treated very well

  • @CharlieMurphy023 yea i know thats the real downside of it but i guess you cant get sick if you stay healthy maybe..........................i dont know uhhhh did you like the song?

  • @alienbigfoot15698 i say that every day

    i feel your pain brother

  • Are people just that pissed off about life, that they would dislike, or even go as far as making a comment on a quality American song like this? What the hell? Really? Brother, come to my house, I'll still take you in.....give you what you need....beers, silence if you need........eventually you'll get hungry, and then I'll make you a good breakfast. A real one. And then will talk, over coffee and a cigarette.....:)

  • To the dumdass English girl. I was on your side, not now. You are like wrestling a pig in the mud. After a while you realize the pig likes it! Screw you!

  • @ghostriderinms I think you are meant to be commenting back to me, otherwise how would I get your charming comments

  • To the English girl. I respect your desire to work on a western ranch. If you been dreaming it, do it. To anyone kickin her in the teeth. Most of our riding disiplines here and our knowledge of horse care owes to centurys of dependence on equines in the UK. Research it dumbasses!

  • Comment removed

  • @ghostriderinms Well said!!

  • Never cuss a farmer while you have a mouthful of food. God Bless Texas. Long live Willie Nelson

  • stop your fighting end of story

  • A few of these pictures look like the Wason Ranch between Creede and South Fork, CO.

  • Crisp and clear diction. What a pleasure to listen to at any hour of the day.

  • 11 horses? Shoot, my daddy had 27, most of 'em thoroughbreds for racing. You do not want to f**k up a horse worth a quarter million. The cow ponies (mostly quarters that washed out of racing as two year olds) were my responsibility too. Along with about 60 head of cattle. Yes, I was a cowboy. Hard dirty work. Wouldn't go back to it. But worth doing, just to know what real work is? Heck yes.

  • damn willie can sing anything

  • @mistertrucker Damn straight there are real cowgirls. I know many. Just last week one asked me for help at the end of 4 long days. I was honored!

  • Cowboys in movies rob banks. In BELGIUM we get robbed by the gouvernement who pays BIG bonusses to the banks who rob us. Those banks are not racists, those people are monsters. Sometimes i hope they are also gonna be robbed, but that would place me at their level. I just hope that they are HAPPY with it. For at least two days.

  • Last of the Great American Cowboys !

  • Will a true cowboy please speak up. Is there such a thing as a cowgirl?

  • @mistertrucker OH yes there are women out there that can run a man into the ground. we like doing cowboy stuff also

  • @mistertrucker From a true up cowgirl, YES THERE IS! I rope, do cutting, barrel racing, western pleasure, want to own a ranch, ride all my horses western and i am training them to compete. Of course there a cowgirls, it's not just a one man sport, like every thing, there are gals and guys doin' it!

  • @xXeMokiDXxMCRXx young person, there is a difference between horse shows, where you do the barrel racing, and other things, then you come to really working. ranching is hard work, and yes the cowboys work hard and are not this show stuff you are used to.

  • Love, not only am I over 18, so do not speak to me like I am a child, but where did I say I didn't work? I am going to texas for my summer to work a on ranch, I have worked on a gypsy ranch with the horses, cutting, roping, mucking out stalls, harrowing and skipping the fields. No, I do not live in America so do not work with cowboys, so instead I work as a groom, an english stablehand, looking after horses. Lots of hard work!

Plus I go to college and work with over 50 horses, I show for fun.

  • @xXeMokiDXxMCRXx well sir i am sorry if i upset you, but being a cowboy is different than being a groom. yes i know that a groom works hard to take care of a horses. but i just hope that you like working on a ranch in texas

please let me know how you turned out.
