The Glock 18 is notorious for it's fully automatic features. Many guns can be modified from full auto, including a SMG/Handgun into burst.

@MarcAllins Yes it does. I use Action Essentials in Sony Vegas all the time. Its not pre-keyed for you though in Sony Vegas, you have to do that your self. Hope that helped!

2nd reason is that they're all layered differently.. it's like a progression of VFX from basic to finished

@theaftereffectsguy I would always have the camera moving for these kind of thing, never a static tripod shot.. It would ruin the effect.

If the cameras moving and you get the movement of the bullet casings right + good motion blur it should pass for realistic or at least semi realistic

This was hand tracked.. I think track points in this might mess things up. I think this is a lot easier to achieve just key framing by yourself

thanks, yeah on the original video I think it's some kind of automatic pistol that fires in 3 round burst.

Don't know a whole lot about guns so not sure. You can find the plate for this VFX on the DVD with the book DV Rebels guide

I always colour correct last. Unfortunately the scene's quite monotone though so the muzzle flash does stand out as being a dominant orange

Great work, but I think you should change the muzzle flash layer's blending mode to make it look more realistic.

I have, the problem with the muzzle flash is I didn't bother doing any colour correction so it looks a bit more orange than it should

The problem only stands out when I added Magic bullet looks and colorista, the dark and shadows being blue / green colour does make the orange stand out to be more since highlights are orange which is the colour pallet used in movies

It's a problem with the footage, it's not exactly been shot to be colour corrected

Sorry, I mean there isn't a lot of highlights in the plate.. It's very dark and shadowed so when you use Lift, Gamma, Gain to colour correct as soon as you add teal to the darks the entire picture goes a teal colour

there isn't many highlights (Except the muzzle flash) so when I push the highlights towards orange (the colour of peoples faces in movies) It boosts the colour of the muzzle flash

I really wanted the casings to go right past the camera but it just looked weird as the casings flew back too fast

If you got a guy running faster and made the camera lower then I think the shot's possible, I'll do another test for it though
