NBC tried to force Conan to move the time slot for his Tonight Show before asking Jay to come back. In fact, it was Conan who refused to move the time slot for the Tonight Show, as he wouldn't participate in destroying the show, he said. Since he wouldn't comply with NBC's stupid idea, they fired him. What's the point of Jay not taking the show back when they asked him? NBC were dead set on moving the time slot of the show because of it's low ratings, and Conan would not do it so he got fired

In fact, "JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!" is a sort of "degenerate comedy" version of Leno's show (what's the difference between, say, security guard Guillermo and "Ross the Intern"?). So why shouldn't Jimmy express his opinion of how HE feels about the whole situation between Jay and NBC by "channeling" Leno?

Apparently they patched it up as Leno appeared on "JKL" awhile back, and in the same week Jay had Jimmy on "The Tonight Show". Quite a slap then when Kimmel dissed Jay on his 10 o'clock show. I doubt he'll be having Kimmel back again. Atleast not before "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is finally cancelled anyway.

Conan unfortunately came onto the Tonight Show at a bad time at his network. He didn't get the grace period that Jay received when he first started the show because NBC is in shambles and decided to make a knee-jerk reaction when the ratings for Conan's show didn't meet expectations. If they really believed in him they would have stuck with him but I think NBC is questioning their own decisions for anything nowadays.
