the Womyn's Music movement opened the field for not just women in art and music, but for whole generations to listen to, and appreciate music outside the box music stores. Bravo!
I was one of the Promoters for the "Southern Womyns Fest" on the Florida - Georgia line. We had over 20 Womyn Entertainers on 75 acres of the rustic forested campground of the "Hidden River Resort" and Cris was our main event on the last day. It was an almost orgasmic way to end 4 days of camping that were so spread out within the woods... it was hard to tell there was even 50 womyn there, let alone almost 400! UNTIL Nitefall. Cris ROCKED the House,or should I say "forest!" UNBELIEVABLE!!
@RobinsRehab ... YAY for Southern Womyn's Fest!!! Helped out at a few and they were wonderful. Hope Pat and all are well. It was a wonderful introduction to new womyn's music like Halcyon, God-des and She, Alix Olson, Ubaka Hill, and so many others. Is the festival still happening yearly?
I saw her and Holly Near together at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia a few years ago - It was shortly after 9/11 and war was in the air. They were both wonderful - and very much needed.
Thank you, Chris, and thank you Olivia Records for way back when. And yes, I cry when I hear it too.
not many songs bring tears to my eyes, but this one does. I'd never heard the original, but looked it up based on a single 'open mic' version I heard 30 years ago in a little bar. Thanks Cris, I love you too.
This is a great song, its a getting past@thru song, not just crying your eyes. i shared with a good friehd who had a nasty break to tell her it gets better@ it really does. song of the soul is great too.

My god, when my daughter was taken away from me, because my lover & I were raising children together, this song was what got me through it. It is now helping me cushion my poor heart after getting so many wounds trying to date at 55
@louisethundercloud my heart goes out to you. at 55 I have lost all of the really important people in my life and trying to start over seems too hard. I can't imagine going out on a date as I've never been on one but good luck with that. I met my wife on the internet when I was 47 and lost her when I was 53. I wish you health and happiness
Thank You Cris for enriching the whole lesbian community and more! Thanks for taking away my feelings of isolated loneliness whenever I listened & listen to you!
Hi Chris, I'm 58 yrs old and heard your music when I was in my early 20's - I still get chills when I hear you sing. You move me to tears - I love how I feel when I listen to your music. I'll see you in concert soon. I'll bring the love of my life xo
The first time I heard this wonderful song I was in a convent and we were using the song during medition. Now years later with the internet available I found it again and looked to see what Chris was up to.
I was very disheartened and disapointed to see her singing the song at a rally in Washington DC at a "Women's Life" rally. I think women should have rights too, but they start in the womb as the right to life!
No one has the right to take a life, it is very wrong !
i'm (mostly) straight, (like probably 80%) :-) and she was my first concert ever. i was almost 11 and my mother took me to P-town to see her with Tret . i was able to meet he and was star struck. it is still to date a memory i cherish. her music touched my soul so young.... i'm all warm n fuzzy :-)
For the past 35 years this has been my go to song when I'm feeling down..... I just lost my partner to pancreatic cancer and was hoping hearing it again would help me just a little... thanks for this....

I was privileged to meet Cris on a cross country trip in 1970, NY to SF and return. 4 years later i was returning home after a gig, a and I had to stop to relievd myself when I heard this song on an FM station @ 4:30 or so in the AM. I could not leave, had to call the station, get the artists name, album name, song name, etc.. then bummed because it was not commercially available-had to order it.When I got the LP I was dumbfounded and awestruck-met her 4 yrs previously-havebeen in loveever since
19friday55: Same story Waterfall taken through the line between 2 "regular " CD's. this music gave so many of us the courage to be who really are. Thanks for the memory and Thank you Cris, Holly, Theresa, Meg, Margie and others. Sincerely, Joyce
I saw Cris perform this song in concert in 1975..i loved her then..and I love her now. Thank you Cris! My daughter loves you now. My, my. what an inspiration you've been to so many of us. ACW, Brenda Weathers, your music touched us all! Thank You.
It was 1975..Atlanta, Ga...I walked(nervous) around inside Peaches record store for 2 hours...carrying this album,Lesbian Concentrate and Meg's newest....could hardly breath while paying for them...got them back to college at WCU and played the rings off the vinyl...thanks for the memories
I recently had the opportunity to visit my friend Torrey. It wasn't the best of times. Our friend Carolyn had just died. Carolyn had introduced me to this song many many years ago. As I sat in Torrey's living room and listened to this song and I just broke down. I felt much better afterwards. Thank you Chris Williamson. Thank you Torrey.
