i want to buy a new kit (already have a couple vintage ones) and curious bout ddrum cus of the great looks and low prices - but have yet to play one since the local stores never stock 'em.
is that the stock ddrum AMX snare? sounds awesome for an inexpensive drum.
what are the shell sizes on this dominion kit?
did you do much research before deciding on the AMX series? try the maple or ash shell packs at all?
@bongodogdesigns I don't know if you bought those drums or not, but from my experience with Ddrum... Horrible. The kits sound amazing, yeah, but the hardware is crap. Whatever you do, if you buy a ddrum kit... switch out the snare drum quick. The lugs won't last lol
@alexkills - thanks for the advice... I ended up finding a great price on a Gretsch Renown Maple - built with serious quality (just a step down from the US made Gretsch kits) and they sound fantastic - but I have def heard that about the Ddrum kits... nice shells but poor hardware quality.
vdrums are the electronic drums that roland makes, such as mine, roland td20, very expensive, but i cant have an acoustic set where i live, so i need the exact samet hing, its like an acoustic set already micd
Very nice work there! (By the way, the "drum in the yard" clip had me in stitches...my dog would have lifted his leg on me). Anyway, I've got some homemade "old school" jazz solos on here you might be interested in. My little tributes to Buddy Rich. Good job here man!
Really nice. Very bright sounding and pronounced. It sucks that I have to play them in such a small room. One day I'm going to take them outside and record them with just two overhead mics and see what I get.

They sound good tonally, I just think that the sustain is a bit short.
how is the sustain in real life?

How do those toms sound mounted like that?
The sustain seems rather short.
jamesrockon00 2 years ago
I think the sustain is cut short because the mics are going through a noise gate.
