@cunha545 yes, there is a difference. Protect is just status that reduces the damage, but defence +20% is minimizing the damage from the monster itself (even without protect). So in my opinion, you can use this setup to fight against stronger enemies such as dark aeon etc. If you're not using protect, you will wasting your time for defending rather than attack the enemies. @MrAddition1 Ribbon is actually an auto only in the international version of FFX by Using 99X Dark Matter. An Easier way of getting Ribbon is by the Dark Aeons

Yeah, it's crap armor. The only decent thing on it is Auto-Haste. As pointed out already, Auto-Potion and Auto-Phoenix are both meant for separate use and are redundant and, in many cases, unnecessary. And as for Break HP-Limit, I love it. It's always a prime choice for the whole party. Not for the effect it may have on my weapons, but for the fact that, against stronger enemies, it keeps me alive...
@AlchemyDetective umm any damage caused too your party or by single attacks can be decreased to the point that 9999 is enough health to survive. and any attack that does 99999 regardless of your stats can be intercepted by sacrificing a aeon. break hp limit is over rated. auto potion with X Potions can pretty much Full heal your characters Auto Phoenix is pretty much auto life. break hp limit is for the skill-less players....

sorry but this armor is definitely not the best, it is not even good. if you know that your characters will die, auto-phoenix is good. but not auto-potion, because due to a glitch every time your characters die they will waste a potion from the menu.
if you know you wont die auto-potion is good, but auto-phoenix wastes a slot. def+20% is also a waste. you can use cheer instead.
i've maxed out all my armor and weapons. All with 4 slots...took me over half a year though :/ time consuming...but the best to capture is beastmaster with BHPL.
but my best armor is one with, Auto-haste, Auto, phoenix, curseproof and ribbon. Got it on all of my char. plus a bunch of "alternative calestials" :P But ive continued a game i played when i was 16...im 21 now :P took a while...

@hansage You have to go to the highbridge see the cutscene, and when you go back to macalania woods at the very bottom of the woods he should be there. If you enter from thunder plains you will see him immediately.
I have 2 types of armor for all my guys: Type1: - Ribbon - Auto-haste - Auto-Regen - Break HP Limit Type2: - Ribbon - Auto-haste - Auto-phoenix - Break HP limit Auto-potion isn't really necessary in my opinion

break hp limit is a waste of slot since you can prevent the whole party from dying in any atk in the game without it, but u hav to rmb to make full use of ur 3 chars
I think it's not a waste, if you dont use it, you need to waste it on auto-potion or such and you will need much more items to stay alive. I know you don't really need it, but it's definetly easier once you have 99.999 hp and good stats
but i still prefer thinking dat if u custmomized auto-potion instead of break hp limit, one x potion could heal u to max health, and also, some of the char's ultimate weap. deals more dmg when they hav more hp against the fraction of their max hp, so yeah....
The only character who would benefit from Break HP Limit is Auron, who's celestial weapon does more damage the lower his current HP is compared to his max hp. As for Tidus, Rikku, Wakka and Kimahri, their celestial weapons do more damage when their HP is closer to their Max HP. If you use X-Potions only in your inventory (Bribe Valaha for up to 99) with Auto-Potion, your character gets damaged and barely survives...BAM! Auto-Potion! Fully Healed.
X-Potion's also only heal up to 9,999. So if you use Breeak HP Limit, you will need to sacrifice much more turns just to fully heal. Most attacks can be reduced to under 9,999 with buffs like cheers, protect, defence + 20% etc and the ones that can't deal 99,999 (KO) regardless of any buffs. If you don't use it, your characters die. If they die, the lose any buffs unless you have Auto-bla bla. AND their turn gets delayed :)
Most importantly, 30x Wings to Discovery is a pain to get :P
+20% defense is dumb for an ultimate armor. Might as well be empty slot. farming tanket takes minimal effort.
Break HP Limit is not useless. Rikku's mix has a 99,999 heal all elixir which is easy to maintain as well with the right overdrive setting. The more HP you have going in to battle, you can survive longer too without healing, like again Nemesis or Dark Aeons. Overkill? Yes. Especially in NA version. But completely necessary in PAL/INT. But not completely useless otherwise either.
@itirnitii break hp limit is not useless, but it's somewhr in the neighbourhood of being useless. cuz no atk in the game(even PAL/INT) can kill an entire party with one atk which is not preventable. so if ur not an experienced ffx international player, i suggest u dun give false tips to the newbies hu r tryin very hard to perfect the game n confuse them.
another point, +20% def is not at all dumb or useless, cuz u require it to defeat penance, even with maxed stats. *sigh* -.-
Well IMO , for everyday user LOL this is the best, you need to switch to Ribbon if you're fighting against some monster. I don't like Break HP Limit since Celestial Weapon damage is according to your HP. So I don't like it. Neither I use Auto Haste - Auto Protect - + Def 20 % and something . Thanks
@reynaldo2063 sorry for the late reply. You can get it by customize armor. Using 30 wings of discovery. You can obtain it via monster arena, beating Shinryu, or Bribe Marlboro around 540k gil for around 4 WOD. Bribe great marlboro 1.280k for about 8 WOD.
you only require it to defeat penance tho, so if ur playing the NA version, dun wrry abt it, replace it for something more useful like auto-protect.
and if u ask y auto-protect instead of auto-shell, my answ is dat most of the hard mobs from monster arena uses more physical atks than magic. but at the end of the day, it's still ur choice. :D
@Leetard179 Break HP Limit overrated in every way. Tedious to obtain, improve and maintain. Even after you do all of that, there's no point in it. Anything that does over 10,000 that can't be brought down below 10,000 or avoided would probably be insta-kill or insta-99,999. Useless ability.
@TheEponet You can bring that damage way down. It's not an instant 9999 and you don't need to farm 30 wings to discovery just to fight a boss that is ridiculously easy anyway.
@Sp3llbind3r05 mp break is COMPLETELY useless... the best armor is ribbon autohaste autoprotect hp break (you can replace hp break with autophoenix when you fight some particular monster). the best armor for Penance is autohaste autoprotect autopotion defence+20% and max stat
You can bribe Machea for 180000, then just repeatedly bribe with 1 gil if he doesnt take the 180k, he always leaves after about 3-7 1 gil bribes for me. A little more time consuming but saves a good bit of gil.
@LilCwalkinAznKid1109 its one of those ghost things in omega ruins bribe it for around 200k gil and you should get 20+ mega pheonixes hope i helped :D
If you want a discount from Wantz for the 4-slotted armors, just fight Adamantoise. I fight him all the time and i got alot 4-slot armors. Anyways, you don't have the need to raise damn lot Gil to buy his dirty stuff

it was using this method that i got 4 or so ribbions for every character all within 4 or so hours customized with abilities like auto haste auto protect break hp limit some have auto shell whatever just fight youjmbo 4 times save the game and restart you keep ll the stuff you win from him and you get to fight him another 4 times keep doing this over and over but be sure only to beat him 4 times and save and restart not 5 once you beat him 5 times you can no longer do this
also for those of you who do not know the best way to get ribbion is to keep fighting dark yojombo fight him 4 times save and restart he will drop it rouhly every 6 or so fights also you can very easily get 8 or so dark matter this way he some times drops ribbion that has break hp limit with it as well as 2 other slots he can also drop break damage limit with 3 other slots weapons as well as ribbion by its self with 3 slots anything else he drops you can make alot of money simply selling them
simply because with trio 9999 when you are hit a normal potion will full heal you and with auto protect and defence + 20% with max defence stat peance cannot kill your party with the exception of judgement day as for the rumors you need ribbion to beat peance not true so long as you kill the arms as they appear you do not need it i know what i am talking about i have collected over 30 ribbions customized them in all the best ways possible
you have the right idea with this armor but try this instead auto-potion auto-protect auto-haste and defence + 20% with max stats and rikkus overdrive trio 9999 this is the armor you use to beat peneance
I have Auto-Haste, Auto-Phoenix, and Auto-Protect on all my characters. For the 4th slot I mix it up between Auto-Potion, Break HP Limit, Auto-Med, etc. so that not every character is the same.
personally i dont prefer putting haste on my armour, since hastega is dont in a split second... but i did that before, its just a matter of personal preferance i guess

Break hp limit is COMPLETELY USELESS. There is probably 100 reasons why. Trust me, it's a waste. And thanks MegaKurono for pointing out that in the US version, we don't have ribbon. That was getting annoying. The only thing I suggest is to swap defense +20% for auto-protect if you have max stats. But then again, if your stats are maxed, you should only take about 10 hp damage anyway. So, the armor shown in the video, is probably the best.

US doesn't have Ribbon, so Auto-Potion for the US, and Ribbon for the UK. Also, ONE person in battle shouldn't have Auto-Phoenix, so use Auto-Potion for them too
Most of the people who have the celestial mirror will remember this: you know where you had to help that mother and son for the upgrade for celestial mirror? Right down, you should see Wantz, who will sell the 100000 gil 4-slotted armor.
there is no such thing as best armour in the game.Listen...make 5 armours and choose between them:armor 1:phoenix,haste,ribbon,potion(with x-potions),armour 2:phoenix,haste,protect,ribbon(cause 99% of atks can b reduced below 9999 dmg),armour 3:phoenix,haste,hp,regen(at 99999 hp auto-regen heals fr more than 9999),armour 4:haste,phoenix,ribbon,hp(regular use) and the other one is for Nemesis

break hp limit is a waste of slot since you can prevent the whole party from dying in any atk in the game without it, but u hav to rmb to make full use of ur 3 chars

I think it's not a waste, if you dont use it, you need to waste it on auto-potion or such and you will need much more items to stay alive. I know you don't really need it, but it's definetly easier once you have 99.999 hp and good stats

but i still prefer thinking dat if u custmomized auto-potion instead of break hp limit, one x potion could heal u to max health, and also, some of the char's ultimate weap. deals more dmg when they hav more hp against the fraction of their max hp, so yeah....

The only character who would benefit from Break HP Limit is Auron, who's celestial weapon does more damage the lower his current HP is compared to his max hp. As for Tidus, Rikku, Wakka and Kimahri, their celestial weapons do more damage when their HP is closer to their Max HP. If you use X-Potions only in your inventory (Bribe Valaha for up to 99) with Auto-Potion, your character gets damaged and barely survives...BAM! Auto-Potion! Fully Healed.

X-Potion's also only heal up to 9,999. So if you use Breeak HP Limit, you will need to sacrifice much more turns just to fully heal. Most attacks can be reduced to under 9,999 with buffs like cheers, protect, defence + 20% etc and the ones that can't deal 99,999 (KO) regardless of any buffs. If you don't use it, your characters die. If they die, the lose any buffs unless you have Auto-bla bla. AND their turn gets delayed :)
Most importantly, 30x Wings to Discovery is a pain to get :P

+20% defense is dumb for an ultimate armor. Might as well be empty slot. farming tanket takes minimal effort.
Break HP Limit is not useless. Rikku's mix has a 99,999 heal all elixir which is easy to maintain as well with the right overdrive setting. The more HP you have going in to battle, you can survive longer too without healing, like again Nemesis or Dark Aeons. Overkill? Yes. Especially in NA version. But completely necessary in PAL/INT. But not completely useless otherwise either.

@itirnitii break hp limit is not useless, but it's somewhr in the neighbourhood of being useless. cuz no atk in the game(even PAL/INT) can kill an entire party with one atk which is not preventable. so if ur not an experienced ffx international player, i suggest u dun give false tips to the newbies hu r tryin very hard to perfect the game n confuse them.
another point, +20% def is not at all dumb or useless, cuz u require it to defeat penance, even with maxed stats. *sigh* -.-

Well IMO , for everyday user LOL this is the best, you need to switch to Ribbon if you're fighting against some monster. I don't like Break HP Limit since Celestial Weapon damage is according to your HP. So I don't like it. Neither I use Auto Haste - Auto Protect - + Def 20 % and something . Thanks

@reynaldo2063 sorry for the late reply. You can get it by customize armor. Using 30 wings of discovery. You can obtain it via monster arena, beating Shinryu, or Bribe Marlboro around 540k gil for around 4 WOD. Bribe great marlboro 1.280k for about 8 WOD.

you only require it to defeat penance tho, so if ur playing the NA version, dun wrry abt it, replace it for something more useful like auto-protect.
and if u ask y auto-protect instead of auto-shell, my answ is dat most of the hard mobs from monster arena uses more physical atks than magic. but at the end of the day, it's still ur choice. :D

@Leetard179 Break HP Limit overrated in every way. Tedious to obtain, improve and maintain. Even after you do all of that, there's no point in it. Anything that does over 10,000 that can't be brought down below 10,000 or avoided would probably be insta-kill or insta-99,999. Useless ability.

You can bribe Machea for 180000, then just repeatedly bribe with 1 gil if he doesnt take the 180k, he always leaves after about 3-7 1 gil bribes for me. A little more time consuming but saves a good bit of gil.

it was using this method that i got 4 or so ribbions for every character all within 4 or so hours customized with abilities like auto haste auto protect break hp limit some have auto shell whatever just fight youjmbo 4 times save the game and restart you keep ll the stuff you win from him and you get to fight him another 4 times keep doing this over and over but be sure only to beat him 4 times and save and restart not 5 once you beat him 5 times you can no longer do this

also for those of you who do not know the best way to get ribbion is to keep fighting dark yojombo fight him 4 times save and restart he will drop it rouhly every 6 or so fights also you can very easily get 8 or so dark matter this way he some times drops ribbion that has break hp limit with it as well as 2 other slots he can also drop break damage limit with 3 other slots weapons as well as ribbion by its self with 3 slots anything else he drops you can make alot of money simply selling them

simply because with trio 9999 when you are hit a normal potion will full heal you and with auto protect and defence + 20% with max defence stat peance cannot kill your party with the exception of judgement day as for the rumors you need ribbion to beat peance not true so long as you kill the arms as they appear you do not need it i know what i am talking about i have collected over 30 ribbions customized them in all the best ways possible

Break hp limit is COMPLETELY USELESS. There is probably 100 reasons why. Trust me, it's a waste. And thanks MegaKurono for pointing out that in the US version, we don't have ribbon. That was getting annoying. The only thing I suggest is to swap defense +20% for auto-protect if you have max stats. But then again, if your stats are maxed, you should only take about 10 hp damage anyway. So, the armor shown in the video, is probably the best.

The fastest way is to bribe "Ghost" from the cavern of the stolen faith. Just catch it and go to the monster arena.
There you bribe it for 200k and you'll have enough to make 1 auto-phoenix!

US doesn't have Ribbon, so Auto-Potion for the US, and Ribbon for the UK. Also, ONE person in battle shouldn't have Auto-Phoenix, so use Auto-Potion for them too

there is no such thing as best armour in the game.Listen...make 5 armours and choose between them:armor 1:phoenix,haste,ribbon,potion(with x-potions),armour 2:phoenix,haste,protect,ribbon(cause 99% of atks can b reduced below 9999 dmg),armour 3:phoenix,haste,hp,regen(at 99999 hp auto-regen heals fr more than 9999),armour 4:haste,phoenix,ribbon,hp(regular use) and the other one is for Nemesis
