I am not sure when I was first introduced to this music. But my hubbie has it playing on the computer quite often. My grandparents were Southerners, and I remember listening to music there. I suspect that is where I first heard it.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go
I too watched this show early sunday mornings as a child before anyone else was awake. We didn't get to church much so this was my way of praising the lord! I've told my husband about this show for years and now he can see it for himself. Thank you so much Mr. Jim!
This is one of the early groups when Jerry Trammel had just taken over as tenor replacing Coy Cook. The rest of the group is Les Beasley, lead; Glen Alred, baritone; Billy Todd, bass; and Derrell Stewart on piano.
Grandpa and I used to watch this while Grandma fixed breakfast for us before Church. Grandpa used to sing the bass part with all of the quartets. Good memories. Thanks for posting. :)
My Dad would get up with me Sunday mornings and we'd have a cup of coffee together (mine as much milk, I think - I was in grade school) and watch the Gospel Singing Jubilee before I went off to church. I'll never forget the joy of those mornings. Now I sing in a gospel quartet! :)
When I was a little boy, I would get up Sunday morning before my parents, turn on the TV, and watch Gospel Singing Jubilee. I haven't seen it since then. And I am so happy you posted it. Thank you.
I can echo Nalora down below. Some of my fondest memories of my Mom include some of the same. It brings back, really, a flood of good feelings to me when I heard that Theme Song and I really enjoyed the videos. What a seemingly nice, genuine person Mr. Beasley seems to be. He should know how many lives he touched by bringing this music into our homes for all those years. I can't thank him enough.
Thank you so much for posting these. I remember sitting in my Sunday Best clothes waiting on the rest of my family to go to Church while the Gospel Singing Jubilee was on the televsions. (and afterwards, Davey and Goliath) Thanks very much.
I've got a question that you might not know the answer to, but here goes. The opening theme - where the quartets would come out - was that just the quartets signing or did they have some additional voices off camera?
Outstanding. What a great time. Sunday morning on regular TV channels (all 3 of them),
great, great gospel singing.

I love this, it brings back many memories, but doesn't that bass singer for The Florida Boys look like Ernie Douglas on My Three Sons !!!

@buryinman1
The tenor singer in this group is Tommy Atwood, not Jerry Trammel. I know because he is my father :-)

Mama and I used to watch every Sunday morning before going to church. At the age of 50, I still like the old Southern Gospel music.

Wow, I miss that Big Hair that ladies used to wear! Women were so much prettier then than they are now.
