@1976GGus1 haha, you're so ignorant. "Don't know what it is with colored athletes", you say? The things you accuse Johnson of, you have no clue if they're true or not. There have been countless showboat white athletes in the past and present who have questionable actions and troubled past. But you, being ignorant, choose to believe only "colored athletes" are the only culprit. Wake up, open your eyes, stop thinking like your father and his father before you.
Everyone should know: Johnson and Ketchel both later admitted that they did, in fact, fix this fight to go all 20 rounds because both were most interested in making the most amount of money.
Ketchel never hit Jack Johnson ,he saw the punch coming and ducked under it to avoid getting hit and fell to ground.That goes to show how much todays boxing has progressed today they use bobbing weaving slips foot movement but Johnson hit him so hard he brushed teeth out of glove.Boxers today have to much fanfare.
@rodneychris507 ......ketchel missed with that big steppin rt hand?? nahhhhhhhh.johnson ducked and accidently fell,thats YOUR theory?nahhhhhh.i do agree with u that skill levels then [esp defensively] were fabulous.the parry,slip,bob weave,shoulder rolls,hand blocks,hit on the slip were ALL EMPLOYED THEN
People often knock Johnson for being a showman, but this video shows he was actually a gentleman in the ring. Remember, there was no neutral corner rule back then. Boxers before and after Johnson would literally stand over a knocked-down opponent and blast him again as soon as he was even halfway up. Johnson, here and in other fights (e.g. Jeffries), always voluntarily gives his opponent time and space to get up. To Ketchel's credit, he does the same after knocking Johnson down.
@evilspawn1000 how deep and hard was your conversation with your "black friend"?? You underground black cock loving fag!! Fix your face theirs nut running down the side of your mouth!!
@biglito10 I just had a long discussion with a black guy about racism last night.He was from Texas,and seemed like a great guy.Where r u from?Niggeria?
i cant belive what people r missing off !!!! this r the begginings of boxing a piece of art and only 650 views ,they maybe not imaging that this amazing vid is here...W

@wiporaphell Yep. Johnson and Ketchel were actually very friendly outside the ring. In all likelihood, Johnson agreed to take it easy on Ketchel in exchange for a win. When Ketchel went against this "plan" by knocking Johnson down for the first time in his career, Johnson went against the plan by obliterating Ketchel's face.
@gpciie they were counting on ketchel power to take jack down for the first time and try to make jack looked like a bum no match for a white man and they did, what they didnt count was that jack will get up very very piss offfff lmao...W

I would have liked to seen a Burns vs Ketchel fight. I lean towards Ketchel but that Burn's right would have taken out any man his size.

Anyone knows who did the VO for Johnson? Sounds to me like Roy Glenn (1914-1971).
