awesome supergroup from the 1980's MTV generation! apparently, there was only one live performance from the original lineup --- a Saturday Night Live episode on February 6, 1985. does anyone have a link or copy of this performance? I WOULD DIE TO SEE IT!!!!
@johnnybrannan There's no Youtube video of it cuz NBC is obsessed with keeping any & all SNL clips off of YT. But you can see this song (1 of 2 SNL performances) on the Power Stations' cd/dvd that was released in 2005. Not sure why they didn't include the other live clip (Bang a Gong) as well but I guess it's better than nothing.
@johnnybrannan ---dude, thanks for making me secure in my memory!!! I distinctly remember watching that SNL performance at home. They delivered the goods that night, especially on "Bang A Gong"!!! It was sooo cool to see John and Andy rock out in front of the monitors while Rob and Tony were jamming along.
I hate to sound old, but kids who listen to Top 40 today will never appreciate the power of the riff imho.
At last! the orginal version with Tony Thompson on drums...great...thanks so much....watching the other versions without him but with different drummers can make you sick...somehow...
This is definitely from '96 or '97 as the drums Tony is playing were not made in '85. You will notice that Bernard is not with them because he died before the Living In Fear CD was released.RIP Tony, Robert & Bernard. I saw the band live in '85 with Michael Des Barres on vocals. Great band but they sounded better with Robert Palmer.
Um, way to be a total dick. Wikipedia: "On February 16, 1985, the band performed "Some Like It Hot" and "Bang A Gong" on the Saturday Night Live television show. It was the only time that Robert Palmer performed live with the original line-up."
I LOVE this video and you know I love Andy and The Power Station and that song too. So, thank you very much for sharing it on You Tube my dear friend!
i love this song....

The original Power Station lineup (from 85 with Palmer on vocals) only performed live once, on Saturday Night Live. Palmer left shortly after

I have both Power Station CD's. One of the better supergroups from the 80's. Looks like RP wasn't looking too well in this performance.
