My Labs used to do the same thing - so we bought elevated feeders. Now they just drool the water all over the floor instead of trying to swim in it.

my dog or puppy did the same thin its a min pin so its small nut i was watering the trees and it fillled up and both my dogs went to the tree and put there paws in the water and then jumped in then freaked out then got out then kept digging at the water it was soooooo cute!
