I saw many objects like this around the planet once during a LIVE TV transmission of one of the Space Shuttles as it climbed beyond earth's atmosphere. The live camera was on the entire time. Once the view of the objects was seen, the live transmission ended. .I remember thinking 'what the heck are all those bright ball-things buzzing around above our planet?' How I wish I'd been recording that news clip!

Not too convincing of anything,just a bunch of space junk. The fact that everything the showed followed a consistent path and didn't do any radical changes lends to the explanation. And space junk IS a big concern to our flights and our satellites because there is so much of it. It takes months to asses the risks depending on where the shuttle goes. Also,them thinking that lightning storms were anomalous makes one think it doesn't take much for them to be baffled.
