I was trying to think of ones with good voice acting after making my previous comment, and you are right, voice was uncommon in the first place. Nonexistent is a bit much though, most of MGS1's cast was damn good, better than a lot of early PS2 stuff as well.

At that point people were ill adjusted to hearing voices in a game (and the pauses in the audio file gave he brain an uncanny feeling) and actors had to "imagine" what their character will be doing or how he'll interact with the world all this = discord between the two worlds.
