'Pound' has always been my favourite track from The Tug of War. We can see from this demo that the part 'my heart just wasn't in it anymore' was most likely written by Eric Stewart of 10cc, who is listed as a co-writer of the album version..

Paul wrote this when they recorded London Town in Virgin Island.

Wanderlust is the name of the boat where they had their mobile studio. When the Captain of Wanderlust found out they used marihuana onboard he told them would tell the police or something. And it shows in the lyrics: "Captain says there will be a bust" and "What petty crime was I found guilty of"

That sounds more like it. I do like a lot of what ended up on Red Rose Speedway - especially When The Night and Get on the Right Thing.

But he never ended up with enough good, or releaseable stuff - but he put it out anyway. Definitley one of his 2 or 3 weakest efforts.

You know so many of his best songs are singles and B-sides or "unreleased" He has a whole album he didn't release. Red Rose Speedway was suppose to be a double LP. You can find the songs on here.

I've never heard that George played on "Ring". Great track, like many of Paul's obscure B sides (like Oh Woman, Oh Why, I'll Lie Around, etc.).

well then maybe they do date from '77...I'm not married to my position, but it seems odd that they wouldn't have appeared on Back to The Egg, or McCartney II - both of which could have used some good tracks.

Like I said he couldn't or wouldn't finish them. McCartney ll was never to be released and was just him messing around. He released it because he ended up with enough stuff.

Very interesting artifact ...but I also doubt that it's from '77, since both songs appeared on Tug of War, which was released in 1982.

Well Wanderlust was the name of the boat they sailed on in 1977 when recording London Town. Sounds possible because when Paul offered George Martin demos he said they weren't good enough and finish them. Considering they were recording Tug when John Lennon was killed in 1980 the time period fits. Ed

Paul also recorded some leftover Wings songs like the unfinished medley that is on Pipes Of Peace "The Sweetest Little Show." I'll Give You a Ring written in 1974 with Wings was a B-side recorded with George.

Wow... both these songs didn't show up till 82.  Only Paul could write a cool little song about world economics!
