Maybe an 01-02 F Body, 04 GTO, or an 04 C5 (all LS1 cars fitted with an LS6 intake) with low mileage/low wear and a T56. Other than that, your average LS1 F Body will dyno 290-310 at the wheels which is roughly 320-340. If I had to tell someone what a stock LS1 makes at the crank, I'd average it out to about 320-330 to be reasonable... not all of them were dyno queens.

I'm not a nitro fiend but that stuff is instantaneous hp unless you have some sort of malfunction in your system by the time most turbo's go on boost a good street motor with a decent amount of power and nitrous will be so far down the highway it will be unreal. The real kicker is nitrous and boost now that's an unbeatable combination.

The LS is running nitrous but the RB26 is HARDLY n/a, it is an RB26DET which means it's turbo charged. The forced induction is a very important fact. That engine wouldn't hang motor to motor with an 8 cylinder but it was made to be boosted.

@dohc1974 Obviously... i know what both motors displace guy. my brain works just fine. just saying 22lbs is alot of boost to only make 450 at the tires. a good LS motor will make well over 1000 with that kind of boost. and can make over 500 at the tires with regular atmospheric pressure and pump gas

@innie721 aww I must of really hurt your feelings huh? Ya I will definitely keep enjoying my pushrod based motor that makes more than 400 reliably at the wheels with just a cam swap. BTW they used it in the new ZR1 Corvette and caddy CTSV. Besides that the LS1 engine is one of the most popular motors to swap into cars because of its compact lightweight size and great power so just give up. The Rb26 ain't bad either but I prefer the balls of the LS1.

@bud4g63t Yeah supra's are highway monsters so are street motors with two stages of nitrous for that matter. I'm not a nitro fiend but that stuff is instantaneous hp unless you have some sort of malfunction in your system by the time most turbo's go on boost a good street motor with a decent amount of power and nitrous will be so far down the highway it will be unreal. The real kicker is nitrous and boost now that's an unbeatable combination.

considering a r34 GTR runs 13.7 and the 240sx is 650 pounds lighter, that car is a mid-high 12 sec car and stock would outrun a stock ls1 camaro. But that camaro is obviously not stock. BUT that doesnt sound like an rb motor. I have heard a few rb25's and 2 rb26 and they sounded much better than that car. Im assuming its sr20 or ka.

@trulyawakened.....one small underlying problem with that observation...the GTR is Awd...hence why it yields such good quarter times...lighter car doesnt mean faster down the quarter? i have seen 400rwhp+ cars that can only manage high 12s due to not being able to put it down....you need to get your license and perhaps a car before you comment again. wikipedia is not real life.

@ihatejadeturner Lol at your last statement. I drive a 280z that I built MYSELF. No its not that fast. But its mine and I love it. I have experience around these cars(RB CARS). I AM NOT saying i have owned one. Agreed traction is a problem but a 240z with a lighty modded RB26 can run in the 11's BECAUSE of its low weight. You can actually find that video on youtube. Front wheel drive have the biggest traction issues so maybe your civic cant make good time with that power. Not our problem.

Why do people keep calling that 240 a piece of shit? It has an rb26 in it which comes from a skyline gtr. Correctly modded those things lay down a lot of power. Why does it have to be a bad engine just because it lost to an engine running on nos with over 3 liters more dusplacement and 2 extra cylinders? You people need to get over the whole american muscle thing and look at the full picture.

The LS is running nitrous but the RB26 is HARDLY n/a, it is an RB26DET which means it's turbo charged. The forced induction is a very important fact. That engine wouldn't hang motor to motor with an 8 cylinder but it was made to be boosted.
Get over the whole American Muscle thing? Americans were putting pedal to the medal long before Japan. Lest you forget that TONS of 240sx, 280/240Z, RX7, Miatas etc are dropping LSX motors in their cars for drifting, course and drag racing.

I was just saying people are bashing the rb26 when it really is a great motor and not to be overlooked when choosing an engine swap. And it is probably a lot easier to install an rb26 especially if you own a nissan.

Not trying to incite muscle vs tuner debate? Maybe you should avoid phrases like: "You people need to get over the whole american muscle thing." The "full picture" is acceleration and there are many different ways to get there.
The RB swap isn't only a "drop in", my brother-in-law is doing a RB25 swap now and there are a lot of extra supporting parts necessary for the swap. He had already purchased the RB before considering/researching an LS1 swap and wishes he had gotten an LS1.
