  • I was in Aspen when sony had his accident - RIP.

  • I got goose bumps

  • All time iconic tv moment.

  • You can tell that Sonny was still in love with her.

  • Whyd they forget the lyrics? That says alot about the integrity of the song. Its really stupid when artists forget the lyrics to their own songs, it makes the song seem meaningless.

  • i wish they hadn't divorced. :(

  • What would Cher say, if someone told her in 22 years little Chastity would become a MAN.

    .

Or, if someone told Sonny he'd smash into a tree skiing?

    .

Guess it's good we don't know the future.

    .

    Yikes!

  • I could watch this 100 times.

    .

    Just as I remember them.

  • Notice Cher DID not want to do it and at the end Sonny is crying. He could not let her go, he loved that woman

  • that was so sweet

  • Damn. CHERS legs are perfect.

  • For a twelve year difference SOMETHING had to be there & all guys suck as husbands, let's face it... BUT-he wrote this song FOR HER bottom line (not any of the hoes he screwed along the way)....That's rare to happen to anyone. And when he died & she fell apart that spoke volumes to me. His gold digging wife Mary wasn't even as affected as Cher was, not from what I saw. She's been married twice since then!

  • Thats so sweet that they sang that on Letterman!!

  • My favorite TV moments, thanks for the great time you gave me each week when I was 10 years old, never missed SONNY AND CHER American Icons!!!!!!♥♥♥

  • Greatest Lettermen Moment Ever for us Boomers, without a doubt,.... made more special , as it was unrehearsed, and their voices sounded as fresh as ever...Wow U know it affected Sonny, most likley rembering all their life/times together, not to mention that when the song was popular, their relationship was hot..lots of emotion on that set......, Beautiful Man....

  • Like Cher's little dress, she always dressed to impress.

  • @blueticecho what part of "i have a sore throat" didn't you get?

  • Just a thought... within the... 'Who got Who'... 'Babe' genre... Do you think that the undertone of 'I've Got You Babe'.... influenced the music of U2???

  • It looked like Sonny looked younger as he was singing it, like his youth had returned.

  • epic moment

  • Not the best choice of songs seeing that they were divorced. I grew up watching the Sonny & Cher show and it was nice seeing them sing together again.

  • awww i think sonny was crying at the end of the song. You can tell how much he still loves Cher. As for their only child...what a monster. RIP SONNY

  • @greenpowertools monster? youre the monster

  • used to watch the show when i was young. never thought sonny could sing

  • I've never seen Mr Bono before. Love this clip

  • Love Sonny & Cher! This actually bought a tear to my eye!

  • this one of those moments that reminds me about my favorite thing about life; even in the oceans of bullshit we wade through everday; the truth always showsi itself eventually

  • I think for Cher this was something she didn't want to do but many many years later she was glad that she did.

  • @cantstandcamilla I think you got that right. She would be living in a trailer park in El Centro still if not for Sonny. I do think she loved him much, but didn't want to be the Product that Sonny made, just a person. But what do I know, I could be all wrong.

  • @Lanceisabeach I agree perhaps it was her destiny to be a star or just the accidental meeting one day with a guy named Sonny Bono and her life then became destined to change in that second.

  • God bless Sonny & Cher....

  • shame there isnt the full interview and performance posted wouda loved to see it all in full

  • @dannyboimadonna The interview is on here Type in "Sonny & Cher on Letterman"

  • She has 80's hair and hes just sonny.

  • That was pretty friggin' cool!

  • RIP Sonny.

  • Saw this when it first aired in 1987. One of the all-time greatest TV moments. Really touching.

  • Wow great video forgot how good they were

  • Awsome!

  • wow... how brilliant was that!

  • One of the most interesting weird moments in a rather stellar career for both.

  • R.I.P Sonny

  • loved Sonny and Cher saw Cher at Caesars last year she was incredible got a bit teary when she talked about Sonny I had a crush on him in the sixties thanks David Letterman for getting them both to sing. An incredible tv moment

  • I have to say that Sonny looked better with age, isn't it beautiful how they still loved eachother??? I love this song and the emotions that they put into it!! ( :

  • I was one of the lucky ones who saw them at the Tammy Show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium back in the sixties...It was a moment to remember, this brings back the great times of the sixties...Far Out

  • Cher sounds awesome on those higher notes!

  • Awesome. They still loved each other. Amazing moment.

  • Sonny was a Republican who hated GAYS and he did not speak to his daughter for years before he died..........he was one of the sponcers of the bill to outlaw Gay marriage....enough said!!!!

  • @nealbrice That totally contradicts what Chaz said in his documentary. He said Sonny was MUCH more accepting of his (then her)being gay than Cher was. Since he was there, and you weren't, and it was HIS LIFE, I'll choose to believe that version of the story. I may not care for the Republican's typical party line on this, but that doesn't mean a man couldn't/didn't love and support his child! And if that wasn't true, I think Chaz wouldn't have said anything about it.

  • Dave can be a real asshole sometimes, but this is by far one of those great things that dave did for someone. I know it drastically healed alot of hurt that Sonny and Cher held for one another.

  • Cutest duet ever.

  • @ jen8706 ME TOO!!!:D

  • loved this thanks for posting!

  • i like how cher starts to enjoy herself. poor sonny, he is so emotional, he can't really look cher in the eye

  • One of the most beautiful moments on tv that I have ever scene, brings a tear to my eye. I was less than a month old when it aired, my mom was giving me a bottle when I was crying one night, and she watched Sonny and Cher sing this live. She said she would never forget it!

I plan on dancing to this song at my wedding :-)

  • i watched their show always a very special moment...makes me feel good!

  • One of the very few Letterman shows I caught live, and what a treat it was!

  • They really did love each other. It is so obvious.

  • Aweee!!!!! Look how happy they look. =')

  • Hey Mickey Thanks for this touching video. After watching the original twice,I was so touched by it,I wrote a song called Yesteryear about the reunion. Please watch it on my channel. Thanks Dan Dell

  • Letterman is an ass, but how can you not like this!

  • hey this is important history, this was filmed on my birthday 11/13/1987 :-)

  • I remember watching this clip - its so amazing that, of all the things they have gone thru, they can put all their differences aside and be the professionals they are - GREAT TUNE!!!

  • The best David Letterman show.

  • I saw this show in 87 and it was THE highlight of all Dave's shows!

  • So much love. A touching evening. I saw this and wrote the song Yesteryear. Click on my name to hear it. Cher should hear it,but how do you get a superstar to listen?

  • love this song...!!!!

  • God Bless Sonny.....

  • this is so epic!

  • one of my favorite tv moments.
