Gosh, that was almost 30 years ago?! I was just in third grade and remember my oldest sister turning me on to Miss Madeline! God, I miss lady Kahn! RIP thanks for posting this
Madeline Kahn is one of my great heroes...makes me a little sad to watch this, but I am so glad that she left so much wonderful memories for us like Oh Madeline...is it possible for you to download any episodes?...I adored the one where she tried to become a weather girl for a local tv station.
One of the funniest lines I've ever heard delivered was Madeline saying to her sister "It's not my fault out parents sent me to school in SA SKATCH EWAN". As only Ms. Khan coudl do it.
I remember this! I was a junior in high school when it aired. I had high hopes for this and really wanted it to succeed because I was such a big fan of Ms. Kahn, but in spite of her best efforts it was just kind of weak sauce. I think it hit its high note with an episode featuring a guest appearance by Melanie Chartoff as Madeline's irresponsible sister.
I'll never forget one scene where Madeline, fearing her husband is cheating on her, spies on him and get caught up in a stage play. She has to dance with the characters and act as if she fits in. So hilarious.
There is one scene from this show I will never forget. Madeline thinks her husband is fooling around on her. She spies on him, and in doing so, is forced into performing a dance on stage with other actors. She has to fake her dancing and it is absolutely hilarious.
Not for nothing, but THANKS...gee i forgot this aired. I watched alot of TV growing up, and did see this, but forgot...Wow only one season. Had it been more , might come out on DVD
Thanks so much for posting this. As a huge madeline Kahn fan, I've been looking for this show. I was just wondering where you got this clip or if you new where I could find any of the episodes...
WOW!!!! I almost thought I had dreamt this show. I remember it played late on Friday night here in Australia in the mid-80's and NOBODY I know of had EVER heard of it. I remember watching it and thinking it was REALLY funny. Madeline Kahn was one of the true comedy geniuses of her time and she is very much missed. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this because I remember really liking the theme too. AWESOME!!!!

It didn't work because she was larger than life. To large to play a suburban house wife. Anything but a housewife might have worked.

I have always hoped that Madeline would be featured on "Biography". There is just not enough of her in interviews etc. She was a lovely woman.

@alneal100 Much Agreed! She also had an amazing operatic voice, but no recordings of it are available

This opening is very similar to the "football" opening of The Cosby Show -- probably because they shared a few producers.

This show was so funny !!! I watched it and remember laughing so hard at this show, more than any other in the early 80's. RIP Madeline.

"Oh Madeline" was Carsey-Werner's first series; yeah, it was short-lived, but they would hit pay dirt the following year with "The Cosby Show."

Madeline possessed a childlike bewilderment which made you instantaneously love her and I think, this was the basis for her humour.

Definitely. Her always being flustered was what was so endearing. Especially when she was on Cosby.
