Musically she's really quite talented and she does know her stuff (especially for a popstar) and style-wise she is one of the most original popstars to come out in a long time, it just took people a while to notice her somewhat un-conventional style and by the time people actually noticed, Lady Gaga was famous and everyone decided Perry was copying her.

i think katy's voice is better when she's not belting and she's singing like this. She's not straining to reach the notes, and the notes aren't impossibly high. I wish more songs were like this, where people just sing really high to impress people but when they can actually sing the song well, which actually impresses people more.

@icecream4KatyPerry I think that's exactly what the people who say that don't like, and I feel the same way. I don't like the loudness and the dancing. Aside from I Kissed A Girl on OoTB, Katy did a fantastic job creating fun energetic music without the generic loud dance style. From what I understand a lot of Katy's fans loved her rock n roll style. Sure it was still pop, but it's different from you generic mainstream pop. Quite frankly this dramatic change in style surprised a lot of people.

Katy Perry is talented. I don't care what the haters say but this proves it. This is an unbelievable performance by Katy, it was literally jaw dropping (my mouth was open the whole video, no joke).
The only problem is Katy doesn't do this anymore... and it's really sad. She's not showing her real talent anymore and she's giving people more reasons to call her just another popstar. I realize how successful she is, so I guess she's doing something right.

She doesn't need to focus on singing because her newer songs are not challenging like her first album's songs. Singing songs that don't require a talented voice to be sung will never sound good live. Teenage Dreams consists of those kinds of songs, One of the Boys did NOT. I hope this makes sense :D

Yea, these "thumbs up if you still listen in 2011" comments are really stupid. I mean come on, people say that like you aren't supposed to listen to a song if it is not mainstream at the time. I've been listening to the same music since I was a little kid and I still love it. People have been listening to classic bands like Queen and Led Zeppelin for a long time. I'm fed up of her just releasing songs about getting your tits out now, was okay with just one or two but now there are far too many of them, sorry but most people kind of think that she's just an untalented gimmick, and I would probably think that too if I didn't know this Katy existed. She needs to start releasing her serious, more REAL songs and a lot of them if she doesn't want to lose absolutely all of her credibility as a serious artist, start by releasing something like Circle The Drain.

She's talented, funny, entertaining, she has a great personality unlike any other celebrity musician out there, and of course, she's absolutely gorgeous. That is always why I have loved her. However, I am still disappointed by her sudden change of styles, even though the reasons for it were there. i think katy's voice is better when she's not belting and she's singing like this. She's not straining to reach the notes, and the notes aren't impossibly high. I wish more songs were like this, where people just sing really high to impress people but when they can actually sing the song well, which actually impresses people more.

She still performs these songs the same way she performed them right now, and her other songs have more loudness which makes you want to dance around and have more fun so she does these songs are a little bit more slower, but I kissed a girl is the same as any of her other songs ! @icecream4KatyPerry I think that's exactly what the people who say that don't like, and I feel the same way. I don't like the loudness and the dancing. Aside from I Kissed A Girl on OoTB, Katy did a fantastic job creating fun energetic music without the generic loud dance style. From what I understand a lot of Katy's fans loved her rock n roll style. Sure it was still pop, but it's different from you generic mainstream pop. Quite frankly this dramatic change in style surprised a lot of people.

Katy Perry is talented. I don't care what the haters say but this proves it. This is an unbelievable performance by Katy, it was literally jaw dropping (my mouth was open the whole video, no joke).
The only problem is Katy doesn't do this anymore... and it's really sad. She's not showing her real talent anymore and she's giving people more reasons to call her just another popstar. I realize how successful she is, so I guess she's doing something right.
I would just like to see more of this.

Most of the haters don't truly "know" her. Yea sure she writes songs that could be frowned upon like I Kissed A Girl and California Gurls, but that doesn't mean that's all shes worth. @Stickmaleboy No I have not heard her sing live recently, however I have noticed that she seems to be to focused on big candy filled stages where she runs around and merely recites the lyrics. She doesn't need to focus on singing because her newer songs are not challenging like her first album's songs. Singing songs that don't require a talented voice to be sung will never sound good live. Teenage Dreams consists of those kinds of songs, One of the Boys did NOT. I hope this makes sense :D
