You could try putting a conditioning mousse in first. Aussie sells own in a canister just make sure it dries before you use your iron lol.

Don't pull too hard! It's not supposed to hurt your scalp. It should work, practice makes perfect!

i must be retarded. no matter what i do, i end up with wierd kinks in my hair and no curls. I have two flat irons, one is big and flat, and then I got a roundish one from my cosmetology school, and niether seems to curl my hair

Try getting a strand of hair and combing it first before you curl it. After I curl it, I just make sure that it's not curled again.
