I really Like The M9 it is a fine pistol. A really cool mod you can do. Is to change the stock 20lb hammer spring with a 18 or 15lb spring it greatly improves overall trigger function.
@airdude12345 7 rounds of .45 is better that 18 rounds of 9mm because of the stopping power of the .45 acp. it has been proven in the Moro uprising in the Philippines in the early 1900s. the moros were high on something when the other cartridges failed to stop the wild warriors.
Most people who hate on the beretta have never owned one before. I've owned a 92fs and now own a 90-2. Love them! I'm not going to war with it or taking it out in extreme conditions. With most guns if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Now if you were over seas and used one and didn't like it, you have every right to trash it. You had to depend your life on it. But like i said, I wish ppl would stop dog'n it like its worthless! nice video by tha way lol

the beretta got a bad name from when the military first got them. certain parts cracked and the "they suck" thing just stuck with it just like the m16. the beretta is in fact an outstanding pistol. its very accurate and reliable...
what is a "fighting handgun"? isnt your s&w model 10 a fighting handgun as well?just asking. gorgeous 1911. if i save enough money for a semi auto it will be a 1911. in .45 of course..
@pinoywheelgunner A fighting handgun is one well suited for duty use by either military or police. It's not made with concealment in mind, and it can operate in bad environments. Fighting handguns = Beretta, Smith and Wesson, Glock, XD, 1911, etc...
I have never been a bit fan of the Beretta 92s, but they do work well with a good mag in them. The design allows for very smooth loading from the magazine into the chamber allowing for very little needed feed ramp. I just never liked the size, weight, and balance of the pistol. That is more personal preference though.
also, 499 is a killer deal. its good enough if i can find one for $500 used. the beretta 92 is one of the most accurate 9mm i've shot, with my buddies 92fs i was able to put holes in holes at 7 yards in stark contrast to the more looser grouping of the glock 19.
an article by steve reichart is strongly in favor of the 9mm. while it is a somewhat biased article, it does emphasize the importance of capacity and lower recoil lending to better followup.
either one will do the job. like you, i am partial to the 1911 since i own a les baer TRS but i also enjoy shooting the beretta m9 and feel it has a great SA trigger. make no mistake, a 9mm 124gr JHP is nothing anyone wants to stand in front, especially when you have 20 more in the magazine.
I've actually stopped carrying my Wilson and Nighthawk in favor of a j-frame 340M&P 38sp+p...don't feel undergunned. Then again I've been carrying a Performance Center 657 .41mag also lately when it permits (as its hefty hell boy revolver!) Beretta M9 not a fan of at all (not because of caliber 9mm is fine) for personal reasons but I had to carry it.
The M9 is the Gunfighter's Fighting Sidearm. It's not the best that is available, but it is easy to shoot, easy to become proficient at, and very capable of putting steel on target...as long as it's a Beretta made M9. The contract guns aren't so good.
That being said, when I was deployed and sent to qualify on the M9, I ranked Expert with a Beretta manufactured pistol with substandard mags.
If you find that the M9 grip is bit too big, try a set of Trausch grips. It slims down the width by 6mm and for me it made the gun much more comfortable. I have tried everything from Pachmyars to Hogue w and w/o fingergrooves and found that Trausch was what I had been looking for. IIRC they were about $30 but well worth it.
My only gripe is the practicality of the Berettas. Bulk isn't so much a factor as the fact of the safety being on the slide is; that, and the fact that it works as a decocker. You can't carry "condition two" (safety on, hammer back); personally, I wouldn't carry "condition one" either (granted the 90 series when cocked has a decent amount of creep). It is DA/SA, but regardless that safety is in the most inconvenient of places; a problem Taurus took into consideration with the PT92.
Glock fags are another reason why the M9 has a "bad" rap. Anyone who thinks the M9 isn't a wonderful handgun is simply an idiot. They are a bit too complex for the average Glock fanboy though. There are also idiots out there that think Toyota makes a truck. What can you do?
@bisquik3006 I think it is a piece of shit. Exposed trigger bar, not supported barrel. I have seen numerous battlespace environment malfuctions. It is unecessarily complicated for what it does. Safety is in the wrong place.... Military M9 frame built from cheap magnesium alloy. They won the service bid because they were inexpensive not because they were the best model tested.
@bisquik3006 Where do you get this "Glock Fag" shit from? The Polymer handgun that set the standard for reliability and combat application is chosen by professionals for a reason. There is a reason the Glock models and the 1911 type will be found in the holsters of more professionals than any other. Haven't seen any USPSA master class winners favor a 92f
@bisquik3006 I've seen tons of M9s in the desert with the finish worn completely off, and dinged all to hell. They all work just fine. The problem is the military's bad habit of buying shit magazines.
The Beretta has a bad rap cause its not as good as the 1911 why would you want something that isnt as good as something you could get for less money ?
@FullmetaljacketJ Cartridge aside, I would say the M9 is every bit as good as a 1911. Good ones too, not the made in Brazil, or Philippines crap. I've been dealing with both for over a decade, and love them both. I just hate the 9mm. Fucking metric system.
@bisquik3006 ..if I was a General I would issue every military member two M9s each. I would also teach the fine art of dual wielding to everyone in boot camp.
When other countries ask why, I would answer "Cuz that's how we roll, bitch!"
@bisquik3006 Have you seen the reliability videos ? guy drops a 1911 in sand, water, mud and dry dirt 1911 fires the Beretta jams on the same test with mud and sand im all about durability and reliability looks aside i want it too work all of the time not most of the time
@FullmetaljacketJ i've read somewhere, not sure where that GIs swithced to the 1911 during Operation Desert Storm because other handguns because of the sand blown by the wind and the 1911 never did. i want one!
@pinoywheelgunner The 1911's the most reliable handgun platform other than a revolver glocks Beretta XD'S and all that shit cant stand up too its reliability or durability
the weapon you can hit with the most is the most lethal weapon for you - caliber and platform not withstanding. B92 platform is an outstanding and battle proven weapon. good speech about maintenance, the best kind of which is preventative. love the B92 as a fighting firearm.
@millerusaf good shot placement is an expectation not always a given luxury under duress. Less favorable shot placement favors the larger wound channel. This is not an article from soldier of fortune magazine, this is experience.
@millerusaf You and I both know that "stopping power" is a clownshoe marketing gimmick of ammo manufactures and "hydrostatic shock" is a myth. What ceases organic function is tissue destruction.
