So she went to him, because she knew he was healthy and make a healthy baby. And Kerry Washington's character is Bisexual but tries to play off like she's lesbian. She wanted some Dick, she just used all of that as an excuse.

As for the others they probably just wanted a more natural pregnancy, didn't want to deal with paper work or in a bad position to do so.
