Couldn't catch the idea of the wedding and all that stuff going around, but it's a brilliant song. Good days back then in the 80s, not now, freaky BS of some bloody Gagas and the kind. Just f...ing boredome,
@n8tureboy Well the war on terror is no real threat. The threat of the War on Terror (tm) is how we decide to respond to it. I guess what I miss from the Cold War was the restraint and the brains showed compared to today. Not to mention we got much better music out of the Cold War than we did from The War on Terror (tm).
IM 49 YEARS OLD . AM I BEING SILLY OR HAS MUSIC THESE DAYS DIED. I THINK THE TAIL END OF THE 60,S RIGHT THROUGH TO END OF 80,S WAS THE ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE PERIOD OF POP MUSIC. THINK OF ALL THE BIG BANDS AND SOLO ARTISTS OF THAT TIME PERIOD. AGAIN AM I SHOWING MY AGE AND BEING A DORK OR AM I CORRECT?
@11missblonde Yes. It is easy for people who did not grow up in an era to dismiss what came before them as "not as good" out of ignorance. I find that after the mid 90s pop music pretty much died with minor exceptions. Everything now is so carefully crafted to fit a market and it doesnt matter if the person being marketed has talent. Just have to look good. aka bieber.
@sugarmaple28 I 100% AGREE with you. Far and few in todays music field that have talent. Adele has talent. One to stand alone and belt out a song without porn being pranced behind her. I saw the birth of MTV. It was refreshing to have 24 hour music video's and see your favorite song sung on TV. When MTV began to get off track, VH1 was born. Trash and garbage today mixed with smut and soft porn. The 80's had an aray of music talent. Thumbs Up to yesterday....Be gone bieber brat packs !!!!
NO, NO, NO! You are not showing your age, nor are you a dork! Don't apologize for having good taste or knowing talent when you hear it. Never concede to the mediocrity that abounds on the airwaves of today. You are absolutely 100% accurate in your assessment and don't you ever capitulate to the dunces that say, "Oh, you're just old and you don't understand". To that, I say, BS!
@11missblonde You are 100% SPOT ON. Music is no longer crafted in a manner like this any more. It is completely void of any talent or musical accomplishment. All we have today are ENTERTAINERS....true ARTISTS died a long time ago as record companies used to care about growing them. This song and the Fixx deserve a lot more credit than it will ever receive.
I love this song! Oh, and I remember way back when this video came out there was some criticism for the animal cruelty (the horse falling).

YEA, me too! It was much better than the 'war on terror', wasn't it? The threat of nuclear annihilation was so much better than a biological one.

@11missblonde No, you are correct. Music back then was so much more ego-free. And way more melodic. Originality is, for the most part, gone.
