  • lol this was an April fools joke. see if you can find the video of the Australian millionaire who claimed he would bring an iceberg to sydney harbor.

  • i showed this to my sis and she belived it and went to aher teacher and said "did you know spageetiew grows on trees"

  • I never get spaghetti strings this big... How do they to it!?

  • how did they get rid of the spaghetti weevil? pesticide? biological control?

  • @catxflma

They have a special group of horticulturists known as "Men Who Talk to Weevils," and they erradicate any infested area. ;)

  • more likley than most BBC stories

  • Oh- I get it.........of course you cant grow spagetti in Switzerland......its the wrong climate!! Ha ha! Very funny april fools day joke! Spagetti only grows in a warm mediterrainean environment!!

  • "the spaghetti is layed out to dry in the warm alpine sun"! WTF:warm-alpine;can't match in the same sentence!

    got the point?

  • My teacher showed this in class and MOST of the class actually believed it!! XD

The reactions of my classmate's when the teacher said it was a fake was hilarious!

  • @squidmonkey12 I'm not sure if ur being serious or not but since you said zomg i take you're a n00b so thats probably a yes

  • It took years of pollination crossa breeding to get out the seeds!

  • Wasn't it a first-april-joke??

  • @MissSunshine128

I believe that was the underlying premise for the video, but at the time April Fool's jokes were rare in the media.

  • This ranks right up there with Dihydrogen Monoxide and is worthy of William Horace de Vere Cole.

  • this is humiliating my culture!!

  • @need1992 i don't know if your joking or not, but believe me, here in the US, there would have been millions of calls. this was just purely genius.

  • This is wonderful

  • I remember this. It caused a fuss at the time as some people were fooled. Mostly because Richard Dimbleby only ever did serious subjects and was respected for his honesty.

  • British humor, often hilarious for pre-school children in the rest of the world. But professionally well done

  • great sense of humor... but because of the date it aired (april fools), I wouldn't think alot of people would've been taken in...maybe they didn't expect it back then...

  • Oh that's good.

  • I've heard of this video but never actually seen it. Thanks!

  • Yes indeed a super share for tomorrow, it's time this one was redone don't you think, using the original soundtrack, but modern images.!! perfect april fool share. i bet many would fll for it again, I remember it did cause a stir in 1957, with people rushing doewn to garden centres for seeds or plants, people in those days did not world travel other than to blackpool or Tenby hahaha, its so convincing that I can imagine many very many fell for it.The swiss are so clever.lol

  • *****

  • It all sounds so convincing when spoken by the respectable Richard Dimbleby.

  • hahahaha brilliant!!

  • I knew it!

    Spagetti grows on trees.

  • Fascinating. Thanks for a synopsis containing NO spoilers!
