LOL all I have is a ninety percent built very very crappy SGTC. Secondary is terrible. Will test it today and have officially a high voltage device that I have built from entire scratch (except for NST LOL)
I needed to put them under oil to get them to last more than a few seconds. These held up for about ten minutes before the oil started boiling and deep fried the trannies. I knew they would get cooked, I just needed them to hold up long enough to get some video. I don't think this set up can be done without destroying the transformers. I know I went through several sets, killed 6 or 8 trannies in the process.
you would need something like a cars cooling, a pump that pumps the oil through a radiator witha fan, then back to the box, but with this much capacitence, id think theyd still cook, not as fast, but still cook
Probably alot of work considering they would still fail pretty quickly. Perhaps a quick/easy and cheap method of prolonging them would to have another container ready filled with dry ice. Have a friend shovel dry ice directly into the warm oil baths as you used the ladder, the dry ice when melting and vapourizing will absorb a considerable amount of heat from the oil. All that dry ice vapourizing would look pretty cool too ;-)
how many years did it take to collect all those microwaves lol

Great setup, and the results are great! Got to get mine off the 120V rail and onto 240. Thanks for sharing!

Dude, you should have done this in the basement with some beakers full of dry ice.
Maybe a one-eyed hunchback.

How much does it draw? Really nice arc! What's the resonant frequency?
XGsboty 3 years ago
the resonant frequency would be 60hz

Your trannies are in sealed containers? Probably not the most ingenious cooling scheme..

@bonggoggles
You should try submerging them in distilled water with ice packs or bags of ice in a bucket
