…I heard in a banter or something their step dad took the hinges off both their bed room doors and took the doors away when they where 15, for slamming them whilst he was looking after them.:o pahahahah
Ha, that might be where those lyrics came from, maybe not.
I just bout their "complete recollection" albulm and my opinion is mixed, I like the rawness of the demo song bit in my purchase it had videos on how the took the demo into the final "the con album". And I am very satisfied on the outcome of each song.
@TheSnoopy1750 IMHO? And I'm planning on getting that too, I really want to see the movies. And I was wondering if You knew if there was a record version of "Feel It In My Bones", because i can only find the acoustic and Tiesto version (which I love btw).
@TheSnoopy1750 Wow that sucks, hopefully you will catch them whenever they're in NY again. Oh and good luck with all the craziness On NYE. Happy new years!
This is my favorite out of all The Con demos. I really love that repetitive bass drum though, I wish it could have been more prominent in the final version.
At one of their gigs they were talking about how when they were like 15 they were arguing and their Step-Dad literally unhinged their door.... so I think it may have a contributory factor about the whole take the hinges of the door but not really sure :/ x
"I was a happy kid and there isn't a sad, sad story to tell. But our parents got divorced when we were five, and I think I had a lot of anxiety when I was kid. I worried that I was sick a lot... So, the first part of the song definitely is about me being a bit of a troubled kid, worried and anxious about things. But a lot of that was inside, like how I imagined myself when I was a little kid, 'cause I know that a lot of people didn't see me like that. . .
. . .And then, as a teenager I was a brat, for sure. We grew up in a tough neighborhood, and we sort of took on a lot of that attitude that comes with being around a lot of tough kids. I don't think we were bad, but definitely in junior high and highschool... The second part of the song is about that time in my life."
I'm impressed with myself lol. I could never quite figure out what she was playing in the chorus off the album version cos there's so much stuff going on but I pretty much got it right! How good am I? lol. The chorus riff sounds very similar to the riff in Wrists. Weird tuning.
I like how Sara enunciates her words in this version. Also she sounds like she's mad. I dunno. This song makes me get a feeling in my gut like I have been wronged or something. Makes me feel like I need retribution.
Well in the Con DVD Sara talks about how Ted made a drum loop for this song, but she couldn't just put it on cause she didn't record with a metronome. And how she spent 7 hours trying to fit the drum loop in. haha.
i'm guessing it's just sara on this track though, it makes sense that would do the backing for her own demo. Especially as they only really began singing on each others recordings in studio for this record.
yea i think they kinda use nicknames for there songs..or something liek tht :P..like they called The Con "Encircle me" and knife going in "KGI" and such..well not nicknamse..ike short versions of the names
This was originally called SOS and The Con was originally called Encircle Me, until they named the album The Con and changed the name of Encircle Me so they would have a title track.
ooo i love the like underground beat in this one..its really intense and has this sort of different affect on her vocals..but i think i prefer her vocals on the con..just the type of clarity..if i could mesh the two it would be perfect..no if they meshed the two it would be perfect my bad...
Thanks for your comment! I looooove this version too :-)
And I agree, they should release more demos (imagine, like the Demos for So Jealous, Walking with a Ghost etc too?!). Man I'd feel like I'd died and gone to heavan if they did!
I think they should re-release songs from their tape demos. I'm in love with "Here I Am" from their Yellow Demo tape. Maybe not "re-release" them, but make them easier to find maybe? The only song I've heard from a demo tape is "Here I Am".
I still can't get over that I'm listening to them. Listening to them before the finished product just feels much more intense. There is no doubt in my mind that the rawness in the voices and lyrics is perfect and amazing without having to be tinkered with in the studio.

@coolbrandon92 I just downloaded the "Get Along" album on iTunes as I love their acoustic live versions.
Well worth the price IMHO and a way to get my T&S fix until their new album comes out.

@coolbrandon92 Never heard a record version of FIIMB, at least one from iTunes - I too love the Tiesto (youtube video)
I downloaded "Get Along" off iTunes. I live in Manhattan but missed the 2 showings because I heard about it too late (bummer).

I really wish that they would've kept the vocals to the demo and just added the drum part. Sara's voice in this just, kills you, you know?
