  • can you make this without corupting fings

  • hey man you are not cearful

  • I did everything on here and like you told me before to solder to this points in the middle and I did but when I plug it in, nothing on the controller works. When I unsoldered them and plugged it in everything would work like the ring of light. I did this on a brand new wired controller sooooo you got any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it?

  • i like how he didnt use any resistors.. people if you are doing this in a wireless controller make sure you have a 22Ohm resistor. you will pop your LED other wise.

  • @joemoses911 where do you have to install the resistors

  • How many volts must the LEDs be? for wired and wireless.

  • @RazorX313X Wired gives out 5V, wireless (AA batteries) 3V and wireless (rechargeable) 2.4V.

Choose LEDs appropriate for the voltages. Check out LEDcalc to help

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks Bro! I will use this for as Reference when I get my LEDs.

  • I've honestly looked all over the internet and I cant find where to put the power and ground points for the wired controller. I know they are in ur video but i cant see the first power one. I looked at the links in ur description and the wired one from llama has the controller flipped over backward or something. Is there anyway you could find or upload a picture in ur description just saying "this" point is power and "this" point is ground for a wired controller.

  • @SHORTxSTEPS on Llamma, there's a * XBOX 360 Controller Power Points * topic. The third picture down is what you want. Look at the points right in the middle of the controller. where that chrome-looking thing is.

  • Wouldn't the glue cover up the light

  • @SHORTxSTEPS Well, most hot glue is fairly clear. And it's good to diffuse the light a bit.

  • Where did you get your LEDs?

  • @TheDirtydigger123 I got mine from Phenoptix

  • This really helped me thanks

  • i know just tryin to be funny

  • @Beast5997 Makes two of us :D

  • so if i smash the buttons with a sludge hammer as hard AS I CAN NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN 0:20

  • @Beast5997 The previous command was to get a screwdriver and break the pins. Thus, you can be as rough as you want with the screwdriver. :)

  • why not put the camera in the middle between you so we can see yooooo hands? D:

  • what kind of wire do you use?!

  • @TrevorLeeC This has already been answered. But it's 30AWG Kynar Wire

  • what kind of wire do you use?!

  • O & do you have to solder or is there a different way like just tapin the wires down or somthin like that?

  • @falloutgeek557 Um, I suppose you could tape them down or use glue but that is reeally unlikely to give you a connection that lasts. I would definitely solder them!

  • k thanks!

  • can they turn on & off or are they always on ?

  • @falloutgeek557 With a wired controller, they're always on as long as the USB is plugged in. You can wire a transistor. There's a guide in the Desc.

  • No resister??

  • @Philly2Brooklyn No, No resistor needed for the 4 LEDs I used.

  • SOMEONE ANSWER, WHAT IS OUTY?

  • can you send a picture on were you set the wire on the chip.

    car502@live.se

  • im just gonna go buy one of these things

  • this song... SUCKS!!!

  • towards the end does it matter which wire to connect to the power source and ground?

  • @cookie57390 yes or youll get it backward find controller diagrames on google to help

  • is this from custom controllers website?

  • what kind of resistors did you use?

  • Does it work on a wireless controller ?

  • @3U4NC4MPB311 Yes, check out the link in the description

  • what is the name of the leds you used for the abxy buttons

  • @Gupta30 They are 3mm Super bright white DIP LEDs from Phenoptix.

  • @0M4rs0 What is the voltage required for each led?

  • @TheTacticalWaiter From where you buy the LEDs, they should have the specification of what voltage to have.

tbh, you can put any voltage through them and it just varies how dim/bright they are.

  • Great vid sooo helpful. Just wondering though I ordered mine and they came with a resister and transmitter should I just not use them? Thank you

  • @sneakysmoothie If you wire them up, it will turn on with the controller in comparison to being on whenever there is power. This would be more useful for a wireless controller.

There's a link in the description that should help you.

  • Hey, nice Tut.

I was wondering where you got the wire?

and also if it matters if you use the 30 AWG?

also, where did you buy your LEDs? and what mm and specs?

sorry if you have answered these questions already, i just read through some pages and could not find the answer.

    thanks.

  • @myWEENsonFIRE I got my wire and LEDs from Phenoptix. They are very good!

The LEDs are 3mm White LEDs

As long as the wire is thin and won't disrupt any of the casing, then it should be fine.

  • @0M4rs0 well thanks for the help.

    much appreciated.

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks for that info.

well would it be possible to buy the prewired 3mm 12V leds?

or would that requiere something more?

  • @myWEENsonFIRE Yeah, I think the wire supplied should be thin enough. Should be fine

  • what wire do you use dude?

  • @1337xMoDzZ Please look at other comments before asking. I used 30AWG Kynar Wire.

  • @0M4rs0 sorry that I have a life and cba to read though 182, comments but thanks man, and I am from the uk were can I get some decent paint from? :)

  • @1337xMoDzZ I found paint at my local DIY shop. Plasti-Kote

  • u have to buy special lights?

  • Thanks man!!

  • @JANDRIUOLI Glad I could help.

  • I installed the kit to my a,b,x and y buttons to light up but I noticed when I run the controller on a rechargeable battery it lights up but when I plug it into a rechargeable cable to the USB it's lights up super bright. Is this normal? Also when I use the rechargeable battery only and the controller rumbles the lights flicker!! Let me know?

  • @JANDRIUOLI yeh man since you are running of a rechargeable kit your controller will prioritize and the lights wont be as bright. Try switching to good old double A's. Good luck hop it helps.

  • whta gauge wire?

  • @PBboy08 I used 30AWG kynar wire.

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks Deary65 this helped me out so much xx All my love goes to you babe xx

  • where would i solder the positive and negative in the CG board instead of the matrix one

  • just wanderin...i put sum lights in controller buttons and they work.... just not thaaat bright with brand new batteries... do i need a resistor of sum sort?? thanx =)

  • @yodaisoldskool A resistor decreases the voltage. That would make them dimmer.

  • dose it matter what gauge wire??

  • @dontl00katmyname personally, I don't think it matters. I used pretty thin stuff. If you use thick stuff, it might not fit in certain places. I used 30AWG Kynar wire

  • Hey if i send you my controller could you make it like that?

  • @SpecialForces501 'fraid not.

  • hey, im now about to try this ;) Ill leave feedback on how it went and if you helped;)

  • hey what type of glue did u use?

  • @uGIIModz Just hot glue from a glue gun.

  • Do "NOT" us the soldering iron to get the plastic out! it will worp your button and make it so it doesnt really press down as easy!!

  • Comment removed

  • @rtitocaz Check your messages ;)

  • urgh i cant find anywhere that i can pay for my controller 2 get a abxy mod fitted :(

  • @HyperADHDChild Where are you located?

  • @0M4rs0 London.

  • Do You need a resistor and what LEDs are you using? Thanks

  • @St3althRage I'm using 4 super bright white LEDs and don't need a resistor.

If you intend using other colours, you may need one. You can use an LED calculator (Google it) to find what resistor you need.

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks for the Help and do you know where you solder the start/back buttons and the dome?

  • @St3althRage Where you solder the start/back buttons and dome?

    I don't understand.

  • @0M4rs0 Like Do you know where to solder the positive and ground of the dome and start/back buttons if i were to light them up?

  • @St3althRage The main power source on the controller is the one used in the video.

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks i can connect all of them to that one? ps i subbed for being so helpful

  • @St3althRage You might be able to. That is quite a lot of power being used. You can only find out.

tbh, I don't really care about subscribers. I don't see the advantage of having them ;)

  • @0M4rs0 Thanks for all the help :)

  • And got another question lol soz, can you also mark the place where the cross has been and fill it with glue after?

  • @Zamblaf Yeah, that's a good idea.

Make sure you underfill with the glue, test and fill appropriately.

  • Oh the glue did it well, tyvm! Hope it'll work when i'm going to make it have to get some leds too! ^^

  • Oh, k tyvm (: had some probs with that and btw did your controller work after it ? xD

but.. still when you remove that thing in the button and you rebuild the controller doesnt the button gets stucked?

  • @Zamblaf Yeah, my controller worked. Be careful with the glue if that's what you're talking about. Let it harden and it should be fine.

  • Looks like boots in sand. Is that the - and alternative the + ?

  • @Zamblaf The red and blue highlighted points are +. The far left point is -

  • Oh the area that looks abit like sand?

  • @Zamblaf lol, you could say that. Just the far left solder point to the South-West of the A on Alternative.

  • So red is the + and blue the - pole?

  • @Zamblaf No, they are both power.

The point on the far left where it looks soldered/messy is the -

  • And what did you do first so the 1 above the mic plugin that's the + or the - ?

  • @Zamblaf This point is the +

    htt-p://i46.tinypic.-com/wlf2nr-.jpg-url

    (remove the '-'s

  • Hehe lol well, you got 2 sides with a battery right? + and - and you got 4 LEDs

did you combined 2 + LEDS and 2 - (wires) LEDS? and connected them to those spots?

and also; Does it matter what spot you take when you are about to connect them to the controller

  • @Zamblaf You wire all the + of the LEDs to the + of the power source. Then wire all the - of the LEDs to the - of the power source.

The longer legs of the LEDs are +.

  • Nice vid, but got a question you combined 2+ and 2-'s ? and connected them to the point where you attached it right? '

Ty anyway gonna do it soon (:

  • @Zamblaf I don't quite understand what you're saying. Sorry. :)

  • thanks man helped a lot more than i can say for some off the other vids that just show them fitted in an not showin how to really do it now my pad lights up like elc gone out off fashion lolBIG HELP THANKS

  • @jason80590 Glad I could help!

  • where do i wire the LEDs do on a wireless controller???!

  • @hOcks96 Same spots. You can even see where the power comes in because you can follow the springs where the batteries go.

  • Wat kind of wire are you using to connect the four led legs together

  • @jmcmullen131838 30AWG Wire from Phenoptix

  • i saw somethin similar on llamma.com

  • i did my 2 controllers and my friends controller

    useing RGB slow-fade leds

  • @RollerCoasterRyan

Nice, do the colours come out well?

I bet if you were playing in a dark room, the changing would get annoying after a while though ;)

  • @0M4rs0

i have a vid of the first one i did

    and it does't annoying

  • can i use white leds

  • @br4ndon145

    yes any color you want

    as long as its 5mm

  • can u get clear ABXY Buttons? yea phenoptix rocks

  • @saschiver You can from specialist sellers. Check out eBay but they are hard to find.

  • Why can't This process be simpler ...

  • where do u put the power and ground cords on the new xbox controller

  • where can i get the LEDS you have and what type of soldering iron so you have and what store can i get 1 from

  • @seeyditti I got my LEDs from Phenoptix

The soldering iron is an Antex soldering iron.

Any cheap soldering iron from electronic or DIY stores will do for this particular job.

  • what are the exzacked names of the LEDS you used

  • @seeyditti "Ultra Bright White LED 3mm 9000mcd" from Phenoptix.

  • i want to see the finished controller product!!! it should look sick.

  • @geastthebeast

Put a link in the description.

  • i have a 1.2V blue led, so do i need a resistor, if i do how do i connect it

  • awesome!!! ill definitely be trying this and adding this vid to my faves (yes i have xp with wiring and soldering)

  • What LEDs and wires do I need

  • you need a resister?

  • @IIpsk Not if you use 4 white LEDs.

Use LEDcalc.com to work out what resistor you need with different LEDs.

  • great video! :)

  • dude what kind of screw driver do you use to unscrew your xbox 360 controller? because my LB, and B buttons are kinda jammed... :(

  • @gwa56 I use a Security T8

  • what size LED's were they? 3mm or 5mm?

  • @MattyBoyCampbell You can use both but the ones I used were 3mm.

  • @MattyBoyCampbell 3mm wud be advised sometimes the 5mm can be so squished they can burst personal experience lol

  • @tommymm8 yh i got 3mm lol and 5mm for the guide button, thx very much lol oh and unlucky =P

  • Hey I'm doing LEDs for the dome the controller voltage is5 the led forward voltage is3.5 and 20ma and I'm using 4 of them can someone help with a resistor

  • Wot wire do u need to use?

  • @xXCiaran

Wire is wire. I believe any will do.

Personally, I used 30AWG kynar wire.

  • does this work the same for wireless controllers?

  • I think if you're asking this question, you shouldn't have access to a soldering iron.

    But yes, it does work.

The lights may just be dimmer since there's less voltage.

  • i mean does it work for wireless controllers

  • i mean does it work for wireless controllers

  • does this work for wire less controlllers

  • Mine have circles on the inside of the buttons?

  • hey what kind of screwdriver did you use to break the pins out i cant get mine out

  • @smartchild18385

It's just a normal phillips screwdriver. Anything will work such as a metal stick or you could even use a drill.

  • @smartchild18385

    Torx 8 security screw driver

  • Ive subscribed but is this constant leds on or just for when it vibrates?

  • @ASChGB

It will be constant as long as the wired controller is on or when the wireless has it's batteries attached.

If you want to attach it to the rumble motors which makes them turn on when they vibrate, you should be able to see how the motor plugs in and therefore which is + & - (the red & black).

  • the buttons work just fine after this mod?

  • As long as the glue is at the correct level. This is why it's better to under-glue it rather than over glue it so if the reaction of the buttons isn't working well, you can add glue until it does.

  • where do u connect the + and - (ground) cable

  • will 24 gaudge wire work?

  • whats the music called nice vid, but also like the music :D

  • Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell

    Glad you liked it.

  • do you not need a resistor?

  • Not with 4 white LEDs.

You can use an LED calculator (google) if you want to use different LEDs.

  • Omg this helped so much and cleared so much up thankyou!

  • No problem. Hope you have a great controller!

  • Will this work with a wireless controller?

  • Yes but the voltages are lower which may result in dimmer LEDs.

Wire them up to the power source first and see how bright they are.

  • Is the power and ground in the same place on a wireless controller?

  • Yes.

  • And the power is the one with a + sign next to it, and ground has GRD next to it, correct?

    Thanks for the help.

  • Yep

  • do the LED's have to be the same color as the bottuns or can the just all be white.

  • It's easiest with white LEDs because you won't need a resistor. You may need resistors with different colours.

  • wath kind of wire do we need ?

  • Any that will fit. I used 30AWG Kynar wire

  • You can see the values of resistance and those of the transistor?

  • DAMN I screwed up my hole controller, tanxx alot mate... NOT~!

  • Yes, YOU did.

  • @tariqDS your fault

  • does it have to be wired?

  • Nope. AA batteries will provide 3V and the rechargeable pack will give you 2.4V.

This means they will just be a bit more dim.

  • what volt led did you use and what gauge wire???

  • 30AWG kynar wire.

The voltage of the LED was probaby max 3.5

  • lol OMG is in the url
