I just received my Approva for SSDI after 2 1/2 years! I have Lupus! But Just as I have prayed for my after I will continue to pray for yours...God Bless you both!
I had my gastric stimulator put in 21/2 years ago... It changed my life. I have been recovering for a while now and agained back all my weight... God bless you all, I know exactly how you all feel... I haven't thrown up in months........ All I can say is thank YOu Jesus........ I almost died.
I too have gastroparesis and live in columbia and would not go to any of the doctors in columbia if you paid me. They are a bunch of quacks. I go to a specialist in atlanta and had a gastric pacemaker put in several years ago. it profoundly changed my life. The docs in columbia are so far behind it is not even funny, they are nothing more than scope and dope guys. I hope you will look outside of columbia to get help because i promise you if you stay here you are doomed. good luck
I am in the same situation as you having both diabetes, Type 1-Insulin Dependent and Gastroparesis. I have disability and had to keep fighting before I received the benefit. That is a shame that one cannot receive the benefit when they-re suffering. It is ridiculuous. I have been suffering with severe nausea and vomiting, stomach pains, and bleeding in my esophagus. Please stay strong and are in my thoughts and prayers. God be with you and Thank You.
I noticed u made no mention of the massive amounts of vomiting one gets from GP. I vomit so much I require hospitalization. Does this happen with you and is there anything to stop the vomiting? I am also curious if the loss of your limbs was due to the diabetes. I dont understand how you cannot have SSI. That is ridiculous. I hope all is well with you. Stay strong! God Bless! IF possible please make more videos on diabetes and gastroparesis. Thanks!
I guess my original response didn't post.. I'll try again! I plan to make more vids about GP. I don't have diabetes tho. I have IGP, Idiopathic GP which means no known reason/cause. I was born disabled. I finally got SSDI but am fighting for Medicare now. My vomiting isn't TOO extreme but I have SEVERE nausea & bloating issues that make it so I never wanna eat. I force myself to not vomit as much as possible. Gross & painful to do, I know. Hope you're well as can be expected. God Bless U 2 :-)
I do have sympathy for individuals who have to maneuver thru the SSA system, however it is important to point out there are always two sides to a story. She didnt tell you all that she was receiving benefits at one time. She then went to work which by its very nature means she was earning a living contributing to society as a whole. She has told us that she didnt stop working b/c her disability prevented her from working ( a key caviat of the SSA disability program) but b/c they layed her off. .
Technically, I stopped working b/c I was laid off, yes... but my disability HAS prevented me from returning to work. When I got news of my being laid off I was faced with the choice of taking my severance & filing for disability or trying to get someone else to hire me given my many days of unpaid/unscheduled leave/absences. Were you my boss? No. So you have NO idea how much work I missed b/c of my GP during my last YEAR of working. I have been in/out of the hospital for several years.
And my boss already told me (in the most legal roundabout way he could) that being laid off and having a severance package was a good thing for me b/c he was on the verge of having to possibly let me go from my position b/c of all of the hospital stays and sick days. So, learn all your facts from reading my PERSONAL file before you open your mouth again.
And as for me receiving benefits at one time & them stopping b/c I went to work... well no sh*t... I was receiving disability & went to Voc Rehab, got trained & went back to work on the Ticket To Work Program. This was BEFORE I was diagnosed with IGP. IGP changed things dramatically for me & has since caused my quality of life to go down a LOT since 2002. Stop hiding behind your computer screen and show your face. You obviously think you know me & what I'm going through, which you don't.
Another thing, I DID tell the SSA that I was laid off from work but I NEVER said that was why I was filing for disability. I TOLD my caseworker AND said on paper that during my employment, I was diagnosed with IGP & that through the years it worsened to the point that during my last year of working, I was missing massive amounts of work due to dr appts, hospital stays, ER visits & medical procedures. NO ONE can file for disability just b/c they were laid off!!
"gradkitty", you claim I told "us" the reason I was filing was b/c I was laid off not b/c of my disability... right?
If that were true, which is ISN'T, then why did the DDS Office (Disability Determination Services) have to wait for my Gastroenterologist and for Palmetto Richland & Baptist Hospitals to send over my medical records for review?!?!
EXACTLY!
Because I was filing for disability b/c of my Gastroparesis... not b/c I was laid off....!!
I know exactly how you are feeling... I have bad and good days and honestly, the meds aren't working for me and nothing has worked for me in the 5 years I've been treated for it... Reglan didn't work... right now I'm on Domperidone and Ethromycin.
Good luck to you as well and I hope things will get better for you soon. I'll pray for you!
I was just diagnosed with gastroparesis. Although, I'm sure I've had it for longer. I'm 18 now, but my symptoms started years ago, and being under the age of 18, I couldn't see a digestive specialist and thus went undiagnosed. I just wish others that don't have GP could understand it better. GP is frustrating in itself, but trying to explain to others is even harder. You're pictures make me smile though :D
When were you diagnosed? I'm sorry to hear you have to deal with it but hopefully your doctor's will be able to provide you with treatment that works. I was diagnosed a little over two years ago with IGP. I had been mis-diagnosed with IBS a year or so prior to that. So, it went untreated for a couple of years. My doc's still haven't been able to get any treatment or meds to work for me. Everything they try, I either get sick from or my body doesn't "react" to at all. Well, keep in touch!
I have gastroparesis too. I've had diabetes since I was 8 years old (27 years now. I cry about gastroparesis a lot. No one has any idea how much you suffer. I have a master's degree and am unable to work. I feel so depressed and it's ruined my life. I have been denied a while back for social security. I have not been able to work for years so they tell me I cannot have SS.
((hugs)) ... I'm sorry for your pain and sufferings. One claim at a time is what it will take! Don't give up the battle. Try again, keep applying and appealing their denials. Get a disability advocate or lawyer to help.
I'm not giving up on myself or anyone else with GP!! :)

That is just too crazy that with your disability your husband has to leave you!
I totally sympathize with you!
Did you ever get the Medicare? I hope so!

I'm having one of those months where it is a massive struggle to eat.
Not only am I really not hungry & getting full so quick, but my gut pain and bloating has been very bad.
I am on Motilium but I felt a few months ago that it was no longer working.
It was confirmed in my last scope 3 weeks ago.
For now we will just hope and pray.
Good luck to you.And have a good tummy day.
