  • But can it cut metal? 0.o

  • if his finger would have moved faster into the blade he probably would at least have a scratch.

  • man GOD bless you !!!! amasing !!

  • Comment removed

  • This thing saved me. This week in woodshop I tried holding in a sneeze and it let go and my hand went right into the blade and my hand is perfectly fine. Thank you Sawstop. Our teacher and all our classes last year for woodshop signed a petition to our principal to have us get one of these. If that didn't happen, I wouldn't have a hand right now.

  • now try your penis. if you trust it that much

  • We actually have the newest version of this in our school woodshop. It's saving crazy on insurance and it's actually a really nice tablesaw. You'd think safety compromises quality. Not in this case...

  • don t wear gloves :)

  • One of the best ideas i've seen lately! Nice!

  • świzdu gwizdu palce idą w pizdu

  • Incredible piece of innovation, if they were available in Ireland I'd buy one!

  • his finger was not in the table saw he hardly touched the blade. Put a piece of wood on there and try it out on your thumb then tell me its a tickle. I have one. Works great ha

  • Im Kinda Sad Steve's Finger Didn't Get Mangled..

  • What A Waste Of Steak.

  • i thought he was holding out his all beef frank at 1:34

  • damn thats nerve wrecking as hell shoving your finger in a saw. lol

  • wow this is realy cool!

  • if we had these in my highschool, one of the kids I graduated with would still have normal-length fingers

  • love time warp^^

  • so what happens when the rest of that black thing breaks?

  • God bless this guy.... my father is one of those 10 ppl.... lost already 4 fingers on the job

  • we have these. only had to do this twice and one was because they left the wood outside overnight

  • Useless. Pansies just want this so they can not be a man and just lose a finger and keep it as a badge of manliness, but nooo all they get away with is a buzz. Well what about the rest of us MEN that lost our fingers?

  • 60$?? My teacher said for a new blade and the stopper thing it's like$250...

  • Sawstop? $60.

Medical bills for trying to reattatch your fingers and maybe amputate a few? $1.000.000

    Keeping your fingers? Priceless.

  • But will it blend?

  • @Zirgh The blade or the brake cartridge?

  • Sorry to bum you guys out, but Steve read all your comments, and tried this with his own penis. Tragically the saw malfunctioned, and cut off his penis and one testicle.

  • @Lordskeep it's a joke right?

  • that wasn't all that risky going so slowly.. even if the saw did not stop his own reflex would have saved his finger anyway. a braver test would be to swing his outstretched hand onto the blade..

  • Painkilleralready send me

  • i put my dick though this once, it really work!! :D

  • put your dick in there !!

  • What if the wood/material have been standing outside in the rain?

  • Will cutting green or "wet" wood activate the SawStop safety system?

SawStop saws cut most wet wood without a problem. However, if the wood is very green or wet (for example, wet enough to spray a mist when cutting), or if the wood is both wet and pressure treated, then the wood may be sufficiently conductive to trigger the brake. You can also cut wet pressure treated wood and other conductive material by placing the saw in bypass mode to deactivate the safety system.

  • oh my fu... GOD! i want that sh*t here at home!

  • Two people lost their finger(s?) when they tried this at home.

  • I wonder what would happen if the blade touched my...

  • This is a bad invention. I always thought table saws were a good way to weed out the idiots among us.

  • @AuH2O Why? The injury won't kill them or make them infertile, it just makes them stupid AND maimed. So now they're doubly useless.

  • They address the wet wood on their FAQ page.

"In the vast majority of cases, cutting green or damp wood is not a problem. "

Wet pressure treated wood can cause problems, they recommend allowing the wood to dry for 24 hours before use. Now if they could apply this to circular saws, that would be great, if they have not already. Although the accidents Im sure are far less with them?

  • Well. That took care of my curiousity of it it works with actual human flesh. But I too am curious if wet wood would affect the performance of this.

  • i was okay with this product, until i heard they're trying to force all tablesaw manufacturers to build their saw brake into all their table saws by getting some third party to sue over their tablesaw's safety

  • Two jealous people disliked this

  • so I can't cut my hot dogs.... shame.

  • What if the wood is a little bit wet? This conducts electricity too!!

  • @morto360 no, water by it self it not conductive

  • @peugas pure water by itself is not conductive, but you dont have pure water as moisture in the wood!!!

Thats why some moisture meters use small current to measure the moisture in the wood.

So if a moisture meter can measure the current resistance in wood.. the SawStop should too... not?

  • A better test would be to jam it with sawdust and test the brake.

  • WAIT A SECOND. THE FINGER TEST IS NOT ACCURATE!! When you are pushing wood thru the saw, you will be going way faster than that. Putting your finger there is not going to do much because your not pushing it into the saw at a faster speed. Say Duh!!

  • @blackduckinc they did it with a hotdog pushing wood at speed and it had a small nick. thats it.

  • @blackduckinc

They used the sausage to demonstrate that already.

The guy was brave enough to put his own finger in there, would YOU be volunteer to push your own finger in the machine just for fun?

Maybe you can make your own video showing that off

    Say duh!

  • @blackduckinc " because your not pushing it into the saw at a faster speed. Say Duh!!"

I think the hot dog test took care of that, don't you? I cannot really blame the guy for not testing a safety feature....would you test a bullet proof vest?

BTW, it is "you're", not "your". Say Duh!!!

  • haha! I called it years ago when i 1st saw this; It will be in every wood shop class in the country soon.

  • We have one of these t my highschool, a guy hit his finger on it, just had to get a bandaid.

  • We have 2 of these and my friend touched it today. He's not the brightest. Lol. He only got a little cut though

  • i have one in my hihschool..

  • lol i use one of these in my HS wood working class

  • He was off with his finger one of my freands still got hafe his finger cut off with this saw.

  • Who had the nice job of testing if this works. Some bloke has loads of cut fingers lol

  • pause at 1:35

  • rofl those are some bright lights man that you need a welding Mask :O :P

  • yea but would it stop fast enough if you swung your arm into it really fast??

  • @rileypoole1234 no its not designed for that, no carpenter just swings his arm into his table saw lol. usually accidents happen with slow moving objects, and so its designed to stop for that emergency, not some random loser dude swinging his arm in a tablesaw

  • @spartan445544 they had some local news reporter test it at a woodshop here and he pushed it into the blade fast like whipped the hotdog in there and it barely nicked it. so it can work in a "stumble and fall" type of situation too it seems.

  • Oh dear god that is amazing! But I can't help but think that if some criminal comes into a wood shop planning on cutting up the pieces of his latest victim just to have the saw stop before he can even make one cut.

  • crazy. lol

  • we have one at our high school and it saved my finger thanks god for sawstop

  • very cool. my lab at school just got one.

  • Watch that finger.

  • "Super squeaky bum time!"

  • SO IF YOUR WOOD IS WET ...BOOM

  • this is definitely not the table saw a serial killer would use...

  • we got 3 of these in my HS wood shop and today it saved a girls finger.. she had a little cut

  • @Rundown18 no surprise it was a girl

  • This will obviously become a mandatory design in some jurisdictions. Well done. The guy deserves to be VERY wealthy.

  • Thats just amazing i watch my old boss take off almost two fingers with a battery operated saw its really cool i probably wouldn't try to test but its nice to know if works

  • which will never deviate from the parallel.

This portable light weight technology cuts sheet material to 4ft. on center requiring no large

permanently mounted side or out-feed extension tables

World wide there are hundreds of thousands of table saws with the old technology out there. Sawstop at

this time cannot retro-fit these saws. Buy new not necessarily, retro-fit available yes, but don't be

    complacent

  • Sawstop excluded, macduff's innovative technology (The Original Jimmy Jig) the other alternate mated to older table saws has retro-fitted that technology to be as save as it can ever be,

it will not wreck the blade or stop the saws operational function.

All macduff's ideally automatic anti-kick back devices are placed up front over-head of the blade or cutting tool on a stationary fence, (a macduff first) attaches to a bracket with a suspended rod from the stationary fence

  • Im lucky enough to have 2 of these im my Highschool woodshop

  • Amazing !!!

  • ...Wow, all i can say is wow. This is a great idea. I love it...im sure my Grandfather wishes he had this saw 10 years ago when when cut off half his hand. Ive seen what a table saw does to fingers and hands, this is amazing...amazing....

  • what about wet wood ?

  • you can still cut it.. wet wood still doesnt conduct enough electricity to acitvate the brake

  • thank you this saw saved my finger i would have lost it if i used a different table saw

  • if he was so worried about safety, then why in the hell didn't he shut off the saw BEFORE reaching over the blade to grab the piece of scrap?

  • they have this saw at my school its nice for some of those retarded high schoolers

  • @theyoungdrummer8 yeah some stoned little teenager,"heh heh lets go make a bong in woodshop. oops"

  • @theyoungdrummer8 herp :I

  • @theyoungdrummer8 if theyre that immature, they might as well let them lose a finger and learn a lesson than to waste money on such a high tech table saw.

  • @YouEatSht I agree they'd learn in a hurry to give the respect and safety due to violent power tools before they got a job in some industrial press company and thought it be kinda funny to pose inbetween a stamping press that didn't care either.

  • lol he used his middle finger to put in the blade

  • **** THE BLADE!

  • HOLY

    FUCKIN'

    SHIT!

i bet my uncle wish he waz working with one of theze a few yearz ago when he ALMOST lost hiz thumb from a table saw.
