My friend bought this on cassette for the drive from Chicago to Oklahoma, a trip taken with my dad. Definitely not a fan of this noise his 18 year old was into. Pretty good sport over the next 14 hours, and a band I still love revisiting. Thanks for the post.
@TheLegitMan93 Ciccone Youth's "Macbeth" video had some of the same techniques used in it; an experimental filmmaker named Stan Brakhage pioneered that whole style of painting / scratching individual film cels
one of the best acid rock bands i've ever heard or seen, (yeh yeh yeh, i know the dunnies that read the music press AND BELIEVE it, call them "college rock", hee hee, oh well, great psychedelia!
Yes! Snub TV had an incredibly po-faced female presenter but I didn't let that put me off. The show introduced me to a lot of cool music. Shame 'David Bowie Wants Ideas' has been cut here. 'Jimmy''s also a great song though. I forkin' love this band!
does anybody know what year this was made? I feel like I was first introduced to bongwater in the eighties. never saw the band. awesome though. this is beautiful on many levels.
Well Jeffro is right on both accounts it's on the double bummer 2cd as well as on the peel sessions cd (although that is ofcourse a slightly different version) but I must add that there is also a 7" vinyl single of the song.
If I were you I'd check on of the familiar auction sites you see them popping up there every once in a while.
@itgetter9 Sure it is on a Roky Erickson tribute album called Where the pyramid meets the eye. It has some other outstanding songs on it as well I love Julian Copes song on this one.

awesome awesome awesome.saw bongwater back in 1990 @ the camden underworld 1 of only 3 uk gigs they did for the power of pussy lp.one of the best gigs i ever been to.a shame all good things come to an end.also check out shockabilly on youtube
There must have been 4 gigs, 'cause I saw them in London, Leeds, Birmingham & Newcastle. The only band I've ever followed for a whole UK tour. Definitely the highlight of that year!
I like this one, real psychedelic video that fits the music well, and the music is hypnotic, you guys don't even know how much I use to love Bong water, they were real hope to the underground music scene back in '88 &'89
Jim Spring and Jens Jurgensen directed this, it's typical of their style, Check out Flaming Lips unconsciously screaming, Mercury Rev's Chasing a Bee.
also that dino jr one ... little furry things i think.. these guys should have a retropective dvd or sumthin... wasnt aware they did so many vids till recently

The video for "Lesbians of Russia" reminds me of the video for "Little Fury Things" by Dinosaur Jr that came out two years earlier. Very cool, still!
