My old drum teacher used to do that thing where he'd put a hi-hat on the snare and play drum 'n' bass beats with it. Always sounded awesome, and Jon Karel really explores every sound you can possibly make with something. Amazing drummer.

Everyone can make the same sound no matte rwho tight or loose they are, it all depends on how fast, slow, soft, hard or any combo as for the cam angle looks to be set around the 3 1/2 to 4 ft mark. I hope this helps

I would imagine the pedals are set tight but obviously i cant be sure. The cam seems to be a good way back judging by how far back the slave beater hangs from the skin. Thats if i understand the pedal correctly, which isn't a certainty.
