The kariya hit is an interference call, I'm a lifetime devils fan and i can see that. Center of the ice at the blueline when the puck is on the boards going to the corner. The saving grace about Stevens is he knows when and where to go after your top players, and it made him to most dangerous man hockey will ever see.
I live and breathe devils, but even when JD said it was late, I agreed. It wasn't super late like Janssen's hit on Kaeberle, but at least Scott NEVER used his shoulder. It's appears that way because of the follow through.

What's funny is, Matt Cooke gets suspended for girly hits compared to those. Stevens would definitely have gotten penalties, fines, and/ or suspensions for all if those hits.

the only hit that was close to a head shot was the one on Eric Lindros. he definitely would have been facing some kind of penalty for that in the state of the NHL now. I remember watching that game where he laid that hit on Kariya I thought he killed the guy. A master at work.

none of those were headshots. unlike hockey today, players kept their heads up when skating for the most part. today they admire their passes and lean forward head first for pucks. headshots should be taken out of the game. but they've gone to far. As Don Cherry says, remember kids, keep your head up or lose it.

Oh god, I remember hit #5. Stevens took out Glen Wesley and Francis in that series also. The Hurricanes got fed up and tried to send Kevin Hatcher after him, and Hatch just bounced off of Stevens.

I thought it was great Kariya came back to score a goal later in that game and Stevens apologized to for the hit lol

all his hits are shoulder to head/face and elbow to the chest. text book open ice hit, his feet never left the ice and all hits were at the blue line. the whole point of hitting open ice is to break up plays/ force the team offsides, 3 of those hits made the team go offsides. dead play. all 5 had there head down. golden rule of hockey, never put your head down going into the offensive zone. bottom line. and goggle the game sheets, he was never called for a penelty cuz they were legal hits

The point is it's not a body hit doing the damage it's the fuckin shot to the head, that's why a lot of them look worse then they would've been. Do you understand how much damage a hit to the brain can do? That is completely unhealthy for the sport and should have been banned a long time ago. Dion Phaneuf is a far better hitter.

The kariya hit is an interference call, I'm a lifetime devils fan and i can see that. Center of the ice at the blueline when the puck is on the boards going to the corner. The saving grace about Stevens is he knows when and where to go after your top players, and it made him to most dangerous man hockey will ever see.

anyone saying his elbow is what hits the guys is a fuckin retard, its always shoulder to chest, or in some cases chin if the guy is bent over in mid stride. Stevens is a machine and managed to just anticipate where a guy would be. Half the hits could be avoided if the victims remembered the golden rule you learn from day 1 "keep your head up"
