  • this dude is piece of shit!, hater!!!!

  • @dpfan74 yea dog what a hater i feel u dog

  • Hey everyone, Evan Coyne Maloney is bought and sold. He's slime. If you don't believe me, search: "Conservative Blogger Giving Away Bongs for Gotcha Photo-ops at Occupy Wall Street" here on YouTube where this "Conservative" is giving away bongs and rolling paper to OWS during the protests so he can snap footage of them for Fox and their pundits. He's not a filmmaker, he's a propaganda artist, part of the machine!

  • This guy is a freaking worthless right wing idiot.

  • There isn't a men's studies program because everything in HIStory is geared towards men.

Awwww, rich white men are crying because they finally aren't number one? Get the fuck over yourselves.

  • @JohnBlaqk it was a joke, like you.

  • this is nothing new, professors have been doing this for years.

  • We had to read Karl Marx, history of Marxism, Frankfurt school, papers of gender as construct, etc. The smarter people paid lip service and fled. This movie is just neo-con though. Many involved are previous "red diaper babies,' were communist, raised by (real) communists--- then shifted in 70s from "left" to "neo-con" right to fund pro-war/Israel. This doesn't show u can be pro-right, ANTI-WAR. Forget left-right--- that third party/third positions exist. More of same.

  • maloney its at home

  • What happened to freedom of speech?

  • @billyz163 It was gone a long time ago, your only now seeing it.

  • LIBERALS ARE FASCIST FAGS LOL

  • But if a liberal or marxist or any retard prog. party identifier were to expose the conservative "bias" you would be on the opposite side of this argument , not saying how libs have bias too, you would be fanning those flames and agreeing with those condemning, because as long as it has something to do with your side, or a version of it. And being a marxist...well, that tells me alot

  • Marxists are either ignorant, naive, or wicked.

  • Many researchers expose conservative and liberal biases in the media: FOX is conservative, MSNBC and others are more liberal. But unlike this guy, many do it using this thing called "social science." Just because everyone in the media has a very easy bias to expose doesn't mean there is no one trying to be neutral, you're very cynical!

  • Did you find Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 informative? My main point here is that if michael moore goes out and does a movie condemning america...thats good shit, people love it, if movies like Indoctrinate U and An American Carol come out, its regarded as bullshit fascist propaganda...which in my opinion is funny, and slightly....just ever so slightly...wrong. Why are you a Marxist anyway, you hate free trade, free thought, free speech? Or is being dominated a turn on?

  • Yes they all have a bias, what's your point? Maybe if those movies were made better they'd win more awards and make more money? Or perhaps the majority of Americans are Liberal and those movies appeal more to them? Most people don't like the "if you critisize America or its leaders, that means you're anti-American" as well, so taking that position doesn't win any friends.

And I don't have any time to explain Marxism here, if you're interested pick up a book about it, there's lots around!

  • Have you seen any of Michael Moore's films? Non of them condemn America, they condemn America's policies. Is that not ok?

  • I have watched most of them...or else I wouldn't have said anything.

And its perfectly fine to "condemn America's policies" HOWEVER, there is something wrong with lying...which he does, do some research, he is a liar to the 10th degree, and thats the truth...go back and actually read what I said

  • Hm, I would agree with you if academia was conservative and was calling the cops on any liberal who let slip that they question the status quo. But as it is, marxist methodology is predominating on campus. It is not any more acceptable than the inevitable counter-swing, when your methods will turn upon you.

  • Yes, with such strict "scientific" methods right-wingers use to "show the truth" it is no wonder that they're in the minority in higher education. Take a couple extreme examples, interview a lot of conservatives and of course you get that perspective. In the end it just mimics the liberal bias they're trying to expose, too bad!

  • Too bad? very, very tolerant, you are a beacon of hope for the liberal douche movement sir

  • Actually I am a Marxist, but thanks for pigeonholing a stranger.

I said it is too bad that he is a hypocrite who thinks the best way to couner percieved "liberal bias" is to create a "conservative bias" instead, therefore he is no better than the "liberals" he wants to denude.

  • I accidentally gave your comment a thumbs up, but I meant to give it a thumbs down because I thought it sucked!!

  • Kids are naturally democrats, but even evans parents who were both democrats werent fucking insane and anti-american like people who call themselves that nowadays, totally two different breeds of the same party. Call yourself a liberal? But you have tolerance for nobody, you hear all those people not speaking up? Thats the silent majority of republicans, whom this country was built on...for you to destroy!

  • Kids are naturally insane. :)

  • It's funny that Fox News is telling this story here about "Indoctrinate U" when they use their network as a platform to spew biased rhetoric! ...conservative biased rhetoric!!

They are hypocrites! And to anyone who would bother to ask or wonder, I'm a republican!

  • evan is hott!!!

  • I saw this film and it just reinforeced what I knew all along. As a student at NYU for 7 years I was disliked by other hispanic girls who thought that I was a crazy for being conservative. I tried going to protests against war, hanging out with the anarchists, but it was so studpid and fake. All these kids were rich and their parents paid all their bills, the kids that were not rich were too busy working and getting good grades to take part in all the single brained liberal fascist party games.

  • I went to NYU 20 years ago, skihillsan, and the situation was the same for me as well. I remember my playwriting teacher spewing hatred against Reagan in playwriting class. I was horrified, as it was completely out of place (the irrelevance of political dialogue in a non-political class is an observation made in Maloney's film). All I can say is: hang in there, be true to your values, and don't be intimidated.

  • Well done for making such a good expose of the leftard parasites who infest the University network. In your movie it was like you had entered into a weird cult where the glassy eyed members were shuffling around waiting for the next 5 minute hate speech from Big Brother.

  • Is this exclusively a university problem? I remember sitting through some high school science and sociology classes being taught things that my beliefs system told me couldn't be so, and I think now, thank goodness I had enough foreknowledge of the subject matter to have established beliefs. Some of the less resourceful students in that class, only got, and will have ever only got, that one theory about some highly debatable subjects.

  • Maybe your beliefs are just fucking stupid

  • What a fantastic contribution to a 2 month old conversation, thanks for that.

  • maybe you are completely worthless and you know it? so you want it all to fall because you are a giant fucking pussy that stands and believes in nothing. "Because you are luke warm, I will spit you out of my mouth."

  • Is that supposed to make me feel bad?

  • Yes but conservatives won those branches. He's talking about people getting shut down without a discussion. Can you imagine one of your professors spending part of every class saying how much he hates Obama? And if you disagreed, you got lower grades and ridiculed by the whole class? That's what they're talking about.

  • Poor Brezhnev.

  • Don't cry for me--cry for the poor oppressed American conservatives! How ever do they carry on in such a hostile climate in the United States‽

  • I'm a liberal, in the truest sense in that I recognize that not everyone is, and I have seen liberal bias in post secondary education at every institution that I attended. One cannot learn from engaging debate if their opinions are not considered as valid as their opponents, it's as simple as that. By taking away these student's voices we do them, and ourselves, a great disservice.

  • Hmm, but I don't think you or anyone on this video is approaching this issue properly. Higher education is not all biased the same way. Political science has a liberal/leftist bias in general while economics has a libertarian and right-wing bias. The same people who are watching this video with sympathy for conservatives in higher education facing bias have no sympathy for the reverse position (see the "-3" on my comment and your comment). So, if they don't care about me, why should I care?

  • Regardless, if an economics major decided to write a paper on the monetary efficiency of Hitler's Third Reich, citing historical fact and numbers and graphs, they'd hit the same wall. University education is designed to help you think and learn independently, not spew what the faculty deems as acceptable.

  • Regardless, the issue of academic bias in universities should be tackled comprehensively or not at all.

These conservative advocacy groups (like the one on this video) that want redress for only anti-conservative bias are hypocritical, self-serving, and not actually concerned with academic freedom. There is no reason to take them seriously until they change their tune.

  • Every change that we've seen in our society has commenced with one interest group taking up the flag. There are other interest groups that broach this subject as well, the conservatives just have a built in forum with entities like Fox news.

  • You are hilarious.Really you make me chuckle!!

  • I'm so glad the documentary got some major publicity... I was at the showing on campus last night. I definitely think part of your inspiration behind doing "Indoctrinate U" was being a former Bucknellian... the problem is totally rampant here.

  • We need better accounting probes of universities. I really want to know where all the money is going.

  • Where can someone get a secular education without leftish crazies?

BTW I can't remember a single incident at my school where the prof. or TA made politics an issue. Then again, I was a science major.

And I would love to see some survey data showing the proportion of people who consider themselves "Left" vs. years since graduation. My guess is that it drops down to the national average very quickly.

  • My brother went to a university for 8 years and it was the same thing. He went in republican and came out liberal. I think since he has been out that he is going back to conservative.

  • At uni I began an arts course and got tired of every Professor stating that Christianity destroyed the fabric of the world.

Christian Papua New Guinea Natives where visited by Anthropologists from my uni to get them to return to their 'native' state. Their "native' state was homosexual and cannibal.

These geniuses forgot that if the locals reverted to their politically correct sodomy, then they would have also sodomized the headless corpses of the anthropologists before eating them. Geniuses.

  • The whole christianity destroyed the world starts way before college. Go to any high school and the text books will be filled with horrific stories about how American settler raped the indians and brought diseases that wiped them out. Then you learn about the evil tactics of christian priest in the new world when they first got here.

  • Its weird because all I do in college is read and I was told to disagree with most things just for the sake of the exercise this isn't entirely accurate.

  • Jeez, aren't we allowed to celebrate diversity. Everybody is EQUAL not THE SAME, dumbasses. Martin Luther King wanted Equality for minorities not Sameness.

  • Meggatonman

So why is it wrong celebrating being a white male?

  • it's not really wrong to celebrate it. Remember though it's usually the white males who were the ones in power opressing everyone else, and I say that as a white male myself. Having all these extra groups on campus is also about empowerment. Why do white males need to be empowered when they are the ones filling out the Senate, Congress and every other major western parliamentary and political institution?

  • This film is soo true. For example, I somehow got a lecture on George Bush and how "evil" he is in my Italian course. And it goes without saying that my polisci prof is a leftist freak.

  • There is a definite bias in the school systems. While the majority of it is in the college arena, it is slowly working its way into public school.

I once was asked to debate the 2nd Amendment and the person arguing against had weak remarks. IE, "guns are evil", "guns kill people", "we have police" etc. I countered with facts from the FBI, CIA,DOJ, and the CDC. I got a failing grade while the "opposition" got an A.

  • Even at the U.S. Naval Academy, I had to endure leftist political indoctrination by my poly-sci prof. Every paper I wrote w/ conservative ideals got D's and F's. Finally, I started writing like I was Carl Marx himself (to the point of being sarcastic I thought) then I started getting A's. What a joke that class was. Hippie profs.

  • Are you plagarizing from a college textbook?

  • Free speech is a foreign concept to liberals.

  • I agree

  • All you need to know in this country is MONEY is free speech...

  • We have the right to free speech. We do not have the right to be heard. We certainly do not have the right to never be offended.

  • Listen..... MONEY IS SPEECH !!! What does that tell you about political process in this country!!! Only a select group can participate ...

  • This really depends on the subject and even the field within the subject. For example, in my experience Political Theory profs have a leftist tendency. But, most World Politics profs are quite moderate and sometimes conservative.

  • The film addresses that with statistics and shows that Democrats are the majority in every department. I disagree with using "Democrat" versus "Republican" rhetoric, but it gives an idea. I'm prettyliberal but my friends (mostly Republican strangely) have great conversations that ground my beliefs. This is what Academia needs and yet it is avoided.

  • Frankly, until some respectable Republican scholars come to the forefront in social and political theory, all that will get taught will be left of center. The problem is that the Republican position is a fusion of a mixed market and social conservatism, and while the latter might get some sympathy among economists optimistic of government intervention.

  • The latter, their social conservatism has yet to be backed up with anything but religious rhetoric. For me, the issue with academia is more about the scope of influence on speech and over economic activity. All of academia will be socially permissive, because religion is the only thing that does not support being socially permissive.

  • I am not saying academia is perfect, I am an individualist first and foremost and the ardent collectivist ideas that are espoused in the academic setting are what truly upset me.

  • Huh?

  • Another pathetic attempt to introduce fascism in to the educational system. I've been to 4 different universities and the political mood have always been dead in the center. We've had all sort of beliefs from the political spectrum.

  • "facism"? Really?

Well if you consider this "facism", then I guess your response proves he's right.

    Facism, sheesh. Get a grip.

  • Ya, "Facism." What's that? Ideology where "facing" your cretin is rewarded by roasted peanuts? Not to mention the origin of the word in the Latin, fasces, doesn't come short of an 's'. Go back to the grade school that vouchsafed the diploma and bereaved your parents from one of those narcissistic "My Son Is an Honor Student" stickers -- get real.

  • Yes, I noticed I mispelled "facism" after I posted it. Oh well.

    Thanks for pointing that out.

And thanks for the personal attack on myself, my school, and my parents.

Your attack (I mean rebuttal) is noted.

  • fascism:

    1. A governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism,...

The point of the documentary is about suppressing opposition and criticism, specifically that of conservative points of view.

What's your problem with that? Are you saying it doesn't happen??

  • First of all, you misspelled "mispelled [sic]." Second, why are you augmenting a second reply, 5 hours after posting the first one? Did my remark make you cry yourself to bed?

  • As I mentioned earlier, to my experience, almost every political-affiliated course I took in the universities, pretty much every single scholar or professor presented the topic as objective and unbiased as it could have been given. Conservative's gist and crux are embroiled in bashing the higher educational system because keeping people dumb-down is how they manage to, let's see... Wage wars.

P.S. Next time, try to look up the word "metaphor."

  • Oh, I get it. We're war mongers.

BTW I haven't seen the film yet, have you?

I also thought keeping people dumbed down was how democratic politicians get elected. The welfare state.

    I apologize for my typing.

Would you like to insult me again?

  • You must have missed something in school.

Look up "fasces" it is a Latin word.

  • u2ubpw7: "Well if you consider this "facism""

Me: "the origin of the word in the Latin, fasces, doesn't come short of an 's'."

Next time read of the fucking post throughly or shut your mouth sealed with venereal warts. Clearly, I am the one pointing out the lack of "s" in his spelling.

  • You should have announced FIRST and had your post at the top of the thread. I might have noticed.

Such a little person for such a big mouth.

  • Hey, I am not here to do hand-holding because you can't figure out how to display the comments in stack version. There is not top posting here idiot.

  • The movie seems great, I just heard you on the Rusty Humphries show.

A suggestion to high school seniors, there are a lot of college review websites out there that allow you to search by numerous aspects, including overall political views. This way you can find colleges that are smack in the political middle, so you're not overwhelmed by one side's opinions.

  • I have experienced this exact problem, I have many friends who have experienced this and many family members. Thanks for exposing this for all to see.

I will be referring many people here.

    Thanks for posting.

  • For something we're "too afraid to address", we certainly get more than our fair share of it on college campuses. I already know more about Marxist economic alchemy than I'd ever want to - to include the "labour theory of value" and other like nonsense.

I don't go to college to learn about religion - and that goes for the evangelical atheism of Marxism. I go to college to learn a trade. So keep your stupid ideological Leftist ideas to yourself professor, and teach your damn course already.

  • True liberals abhor what's happened to US universities. The professors who dominate the humanities and liberal arts disciplines are not liberals; they are left-wing ideologues--the kind of people who ruined the Democratic Party and they WILL consciously lie to you.

  • I like it when democrats (and others) are able to have a civil debate about something. There are so many young people that get into mindless arguments at protests and rallies about topics that it gives their whole party a bad name in schools. It's unfortunate.

  • YOu are the smartest person who has ever commented on anything I have watched on youtube.

  • I'm going to pretend I don't know what sarcasm is and accept that compliment at face value. :)

  • Poor white male conservatives.

  • No, poor people who have to get political correctness shoved down their throats. I am beginning to believe that the college brand of collective 'liberalism' is just a resentment for the white male - which is inherently racist.

  • Don't forget the Uncle Tom race traitors, which is what Blacks who buck the Marxists are labelled.

Left fascists are murderous, race-baiting scum. They have no business influencing college curricula, let alone manipulating and controlling them.

  • Poor mud-brown SanFran transvestites

  • Half the people complaining in that video are black.

  • No, not quite. The ones who are being harassed by this system are clearly able to think for themselves.

Feel sorry for the poor kids who've let their brains be filled with one-sided arguments.

And look around, conservatives come in all colors and genders. The only thing we don't come with is former keagles in the KKK. For that, you have to go to the elected Democrats.

  • Fine - then don't be like that either. So called "leftists" are some of the most illiberal people I've met. Your statement reveals history bias. Remember the dark ages after the Roman Empire fell? Remember Post WWI Europe? No one has the "racism," "rich," or "conservative," gene.

  • I've studied Socialism in my poli sci classes and have come to the conclusion - like Capitalism - they will never materialize in their ideal - but man does Soviet Communism leave you feeling sapped. Actually - nation building is a Democratic staple that the Republicans have taken up.

  • About time this issue came up. Left-of-center is one thing; socialist-Marxist-Stalinist is another. Go Evan!

  • A bunch of anecdotes don't make for evidence or argument. Devan should get a job.

  • Um, all of the stupid kids in my classes were the ones who claimed "bias". Yep, schools are biased against stupid kids who don't do their work right.

  • This is not a conservative vs. liberal issue! It is about the free exchange of ideas. Example: I'm pro-choice - I do not believe a woman should be made to have a baby she doesn't want. However, the law says that a man must support the baby he doesn't want. He has one option: the woman's choice. Being cognizant men's rights means you are conservative. Not true: we understand that the rights of one gender don't outweigh those of the other gender. Choice4Men: liberalism not sanctified by Feminism.

  • Swami old chicken will now attempt to deconstruct truth and reality and then magically reconstruct it (in his version of reality)right before your very eyes. Look into old chickens eyes as you get sleepier and sleepier. No individual critical analysis or edit needed. Group thought indoctrination at its best.

  • Free speech... with Sean Hannity. You're a joke Maloney.

  • Dear oldchicken, What criticism IS allowable according 2 you? 'Logical Fallacies' eh?. Ya post is a phrase, plus the speakers name & finished with an ad hominem. What's your scholarly & lawyerly point if u have one? Uni & it's employees r by nature & definition mostly left and liberal 4 good & bad like all mass orthodoxy. U & HolyKatana conform 2 a type & reaction, as Maloney has shown in his documentary. Which parts & r faked in the doco?

  • I suggest you finish swallowing Sean Hannity's semen before you attempt to voice another point. Talking about equality and free thought with Sean Hannity is like promoting transparency in Pravada. I don't wish to defend contemporary academia in the West because I think it's highly flawed (though not because it lacks a "men's centre). ...con

  • Dear oldchicken, some interesting posts & thanks 4 replying. Y ya bother replying 2 me, I don't know. Don't tell me ya life is as dull as mine. A light bulb blew and I laughed 4 hours. US TV media is a little loud without enough middle ground? Oz media is just plain dull, it all shades a grey!

  • My point is sheer absurding of attempting to discuss free thought with sean hannity and fox news, generally. Many contemporary conservatives like to exploit notions of equality in order to argue that there should be *special* representation for dominant ideas. ...con

  • I don't care what your politics, unless your view is underwritten by *analysis* your point doesn't deserve to be heard. This goes for the mindless liberals as much as the (much more prevalent) mindless conservatives in America. In fact, attempting to represent the range of thought with these two markers is itself absurd.

  • It's an easily demonstrable fact that liberals in america are as guilty as conservatives of refusing to debate the iraq war, for example, beyond the groundless assumption that america actually *is* bringing democracy to iraq con...

  • A free thinking university would, on the issue of iraq, encourage students to question all the assumptions there are about the war and the administration's policy, be critical of their news sources, and be cognisant of their own political values. con...

  • By promoting this documentary on Fox News, well-known for its unquestioning reportage on Bush administration talking points, its (literal) silencing of debate, and its utterly compromising institutional ties, Maloney comes off as someone completely ignorant of the broader social, and media-based context in which the university debate is talking place. con...

  • so many contemporary conservatives think that by promoting the conclusions of their elected officials, of media figureheads, and dominant ideologies, by confusing "thinking" with re-arranging syllogisms, they somehow represent a truly different "point of view". The fact of the matter is, in most cases one could simply leave their television on unattended and have the so-called "conservative viewpoint" more than adequately represented. as for the liberal side of things, try the radio.

  • Dear oldchicken, ya posts are a little convoluted, less con and not so much luting.

  • Mr. Maloney I'm not sure what you're proposing. You offer a lot of observation but no specific prescription to this "problem". Do you want colleges to have quotas for liberal/conservative professors. Do you the government to get involved with more regulations?

  • Dear macintologist04, u know he never said, implied such a thing. U r aware of da bad technique & common 'Logical Fallacy' a the straw man? Instead a answering ANY specific that WAS proposed, u take an absurd detour & make something up, avoid presenting any evidence, point or counter. Easier than thinking objectively & critically, cos then ya'd hav ta change.

  • ummm drcruel its getting harder for white ppl to get into colledge i actully think mexicans and blacks o srry (minoritys) sometimes will get free colledge tutation for have higher that a 3.0 gpa or something i actully think its just for passing highschool. i don't think people should be equal i think the strong should get what they deserve becuz they earned it

  • It's very easy for rich white males to get ahead in college, so long as they at least give lip service to Marxism. If a black man dares to oppose teh Marxists, however, he's vilified as a race traitor and hounded off campus if he's too loud about his opposition.

That's the issue, really. Because Leftists are extremely racist and sexist. Racism (or sexism) isn't a problem at all with these people; thus why they can be so supportive of Muslim extremist groups.

  • You're talking out your ass, neocon. Marxists aren't everywhere; this isn't the McCarthy era.

  • Dear HolyKatana, so what criticism IS allowable, beyond your ad hominems, a little irrelevant connection to almost 60 years ago, Marxism & neocons? Are you familiar with 'Logical Fallacies' as you have assembed your post entirely from them. Answer a specific. University & those that work in them are by nature & definition mostly left and liberal, for good and bad like all mass othodoxy.

  • There's lots of Marxists on campuses - they don't make up a large number of people, but they are vicious, vindictive, stubborn and unscrupulous.

There's no reason to tolerate an ideological mafia on college campuses. Whether you don't like me for saying it doesn't make it any less true.

  • Dear DrCruel, that last bit is a very good point. It's a scandal that phoney talk of diversity & tolerance usually means only what THEY agree with. Free & liberal views have corrupted into often nothing more than a mass orthodoxy that says a decent person can only have the one set of views. It's all very neurotic, middle-class and complicated, Doctor. And dangerous.

  • oh yes its realy hard for white rich males to get ahead in america, my god its awful

  • Though shall not think freely. Though must think and speak in left wing, and "progressive" words only. Yet York U. in Toronto still expects me to donate every. year.

  • York U. in Toronto is very left wing politically, Daniel Pipes shouted down etc. Yet extremley segregated with various ethnic groups only feeping to themselves.

  • Saw all this on Penn & Tellers BS acticle on College. Good Stuff.

  • pm2324: "Maybe this goes on in place like Duke etc but not in the Ivy league places."

LOL!!! Then what exactly did Larry Summers do to lose his gig as Harvard's president??? Why did Yale ban realistic looking fake weapons in plays performed on campus? Why do so many Ivy League schools ban ROTC?

    Pull yer head outtayerass.

  • This movie says what I have been feeling for years. I studied in the art department (free thinkers...yeah right), and I witnessed some of the most one sided, slanted, close-minded professors tear down students if they expressed any conservative ideas in their art. I was at one of the most "diverse" universities in Maryland but it became obvious really quick that it was the most segregated campuses. Ethan, keep exposing the truth!

  • this man is the modern joseph goebels

  • You just proved his point. If he doesn't agree with you, instead of disputing any of his points with facts, you call him a Nazi. Oh, and btw, it's "Joseph Goebbels".

  • tard.

  • Dear ScaryBears, you are a poo poo face & a wee wee pants because I don't agree with you.

  • I feel like it's in jr. high also.

  • Vindication!

  • Graeat Video Interview.

  • Good luck with getting the film screened! I work at a large university and although I'm no conservative, I'm glad that people other than myself are sick of the radical left bomb-throwing "I hate God & America" drivel that passes for "mainstream progressive thought" these days.

  • I taught at UMd many years ago and quit teaching in disgust because of the leftist crap, and history taught by biased idiots. Fortunately my math courses were necessarily neutral, though I suspect some of the flakes in the prof business could have tilted it anyway, and probably have by now.

Just hanging around with the ignorant, burned-out hippie failures who infest the universities was enough to gag a maggot, so I found a respectable job instead.

  • I cannot wait to see this film. For far too long Universities and Colleges have espoused freethinking yet repeated all over America students are forced to the conformity thinking of the University. I have first hand experience with teachers who give poor grades, not for poorly written papers, but solely for views that differ from their own. Typically the teacher is far more liberal and hold their liberal thinking as the only right thinking and they do it with tremendous arrogance

  • i agree, where are the numbers? "Colleges are the most bigoted, opressive places in the country". thats a generalzied accusation to make about a sample case of the University system in America. um, i attend a state university (conservative by nature) and i see no 'opression' of free speech. if anything, most of the faculty/administration are openly conservative here.

  • There have been a number of polls and studies on campus politics, and I believe almost all of them have shown an overwhelming liberal bias. I'm sure there are a few bastions of conservatism or evenly-split campuses but I've never seen one, and I've lectured or spent some time with the faculties at a couple of dozen campuses between New England and the Carolinas.

My honest opinion is that the intimidation of free speech is quite real, and often ugly. Sometimes criminal.

  • Dear dcath86, University & academia both attract and can often by definition b mostly liberal and left. The root of the idea of being learned & questioning comes from further back than Plato. What's wrong today is that it has become in many instances a kind of dominant orthodoxy, where it's considered that any decent person would have only one particular view. Re, of the Left.

  • Have you been reading Bloom? The sentiment sounds quite familiar.

  • "I am surrounded by people who claim they are being oppressed because they are not allowed to force me to believe what they do"

  • Yay may the truth be told! I hope when I get to college it isn't over flowing with Left wing nuts.

  • College must have been tough for you going to school with all those left wing nuts.

Hard to study with all that pot smoke flowing through the ventilation system, and the sex, oh the sex.

  • Dear M4ck, ya gonna have to wish a lot harder. They refill the nut bowl every intake. Just don't swallow it whole, they look exciting till ya taste the sour urine.

  • Classic Sean- creating a turmoil over the oppression of conservatives and free speech that doesn't exist, except in the extreme. Lots of words, no data.

  • Open your eyes! I have my own data. I personally have written several papers with "conservative" views that differed from a couple teachers. My papers were sound, documented, and well written. On 1 paper, the comment is got back was that I was wrong and racist, yet I never mention race once. I rewrote the paper 4 times but because I did not change my position, I received a poor grade. It happens, its real and you need to open your eyes!

  • wow, did you put any thought into what you typed? i mean, following your "logic," the government is sensoring everyone in the prison system, those poor car thieves and rapists...its a real shame (or maybe justice and the reality) that some people either kill or must be killed because they are evil and its called 'war.'

  • you are incohesive ( look it up idiot ).

  • Uhh...I did try to look up "incohesive"...it isn't a real word. I wonder what word you were trying for.

  • are you saying iraqis are evil?

  • i hope its more than 100 a day please let it be 1000 a day

  • Dear genghis6199, er, gosh, was that a change of subject? Left bias in Uni to civilian death in Iraq? I almost got whiplash! A Left classic! The greatest flaw of Western culture is it's ability to draw a moral equivalance between anything & everything. It's really an inability 2 see anything in due proportion.

  • This is a joke. I've had numberous conservative teachers. My last history prof was a neoconservative by ideology. He was never "persecuted" for his beliefs. In fact, he was never questioned in class when he infused his politics into lectures. Last I've heard, he's up for tenureship.

  • Jesi, you're professor is one out of thousands. The far, gross majority of professors are anti-conservative bigots.

  • I agree

  • Wow. I live in Sweden, and can only say that I hope things change in America. The last thing you want is winding up in such a pc-gone mad society as ours is.

  • It will be interesting to see if anyone protests the movie...

  • ugh I had to drop a history class once because my professor was painfully conservative and just stood there spewing the most biased crap I'd ever heard. I couldn't stand it...my next history teacher was great, I never found out if he was a liberal or a conservative because he kept his opinions to himself.

  • That's the exception to the rule.

  • Dear schratboy, ya right. When I was within the hallowed bowels of acedemia, you could fill in the views of almost everyone by numbers or over the phone. halls

  • Dear schratboy, ya right. When I was within the hallowed bowels of academia, you could fill in the views of almost everyone by numbers or over the phone. All were of a leftish nullity. They could say it all without moving their lips or thought process's. Such a bore & the converse of what learning should be. It's about how to think, not what 2 parrot.

  • Yours is a very rare case indeed ... It's usually liberals whom do that if you want to know

  • Finally...someone who is saying what needs to be said: FREE SPEECH IS DEAD.
