My understanding is that we have imbedded our Troops with Iraqi Troops. And then these Troops move into the areas that need secured. And this is working. My understanding is that the Iraqi people are helping a lot more. Attacks are down while weapons cache finds are up. This is a good indicator that the people are helping. Give it time and show resolve.

Only 23% see improvement for Iraq. 60% say their lives are going badly. 78% say things are going badly for the country. 57% call violence against the U.S. acceptable. 47% want an immediate troop withdrawal. 60% think the U.S invasion was wrong. The NEOCONS have only Anbar to point to and claim any "success."

Yeah, policing the world sure helps, especially when you preemptively invade a nation. Do a little more research on the surge; it's not working. Two reasons. First of all, the areas that saw huge drops in violence had already become more ethnically homogeneous, so violence between factions was going to decline. Also, the goal of the surge was to make improvements on the political and diplomatic front. Whatever happened to that?

It was obvious that Bush was going to declare progress and impending victory before he even proposed the surge. The surge was the strategy to salvage his legacy and influence the upcoming US elections. No matter what the reality is on the ground, Bush will declare that the surge is working and will find generals who will testify to that effect. Of course secretarian violence will lessen when Coalition forces are close, the violence just spreads to other areas.

and the surge isnt really working we should determine whether or not the surge is working should be how stable we are making Iraq. the surge wasnt a smart idea in the 1st place. we want Iraq to become more independent so we give them more troops to depend on? now they rely more on us. i believe Bush really doesnt want to leave, I think the whole reason we invaded Iraq was to spread US influence over more of the world

My understanding is that we have imbedded our Troops with Iraqi Troops. And then these Troops move into the areas that need secured. And this is working. My understanding is that the Iraqi people are helping a lot more. Attacks are down while weapons cache finds are up. This is a good indicator that the people are helping. Give it time and show resolve.

You said that Bush is spreading influence all over the world. Ok, Libya got the message and gave us all their WMDs. Lebanon kicked the Syrians out and a brutal Dictator has been removed in Iraq. You can have this kind of influence or just sit there and wait long enough and you can have the influence of Sharia law.

President Bush has liberated 51 Million in TWO countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al- Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya without firing a shot, got Syria to leave Lebanon after 29yrs occupation, captured Saddam, killed his sons, killed Zarqawi, and has Osama cowering in the mountains after Clinton let him go free.

@libsaretraitors: Bush has liberated no one. The Taliban went to Pakistan to regroup and they're back in Afghanistan stronger then before. If Bush crippled al Qaeda and it's common knowledge that they regrouped and are as dangerous than ever, that doesn't make sense. Osama Bin Laden was able to escape at the Battle of Tora Bora. He is now living in the northern part of the Afghanistan and Pakistan border.
