@animallover5326 "Eyeball vibrates rapidly in and out of the socket. Occurs during high-intensity bruxing. The rat's masseter muscle, which passes through the eye socket behind the eyeball, moves the jaw rapidly up and down during bruxing. When bruxing is intense, the contractions of the masseter vibrate the eye in and out of the socket in time with the incisor grinding. Usually considered to indicate pleasure and contentment."
thanks...never knew this and i have had several rats over the yrs....knew they did this when happy and content but never new the actual scientific version
@animallover5326 'boggling' is actually a side effect of bruxing (when your rat grinds his back teeth together) usually when he is content and happy. The vibrations from the bruxing travel through his jawbone and causes his eyes to vibrate. It is perfectly normal behavour in rats, it can be alarming to watch at first, but it means your rat is happy, so nothing to worry about :)
oh really thatks to tell me that because my only raty who has that had a neuro prob but she died very very hold , she stayed with me 6 years !! i used to have 12 raties , love tham so so much one day i'll get a gamby rat !... good life to your raties ...
@nahgle463 Bruxing is when they grind their teeth and it usually means that they are relaxed and comfortable. Eye boggling occurs when they brux, the lower jaw happens to go into the eye socket and it makes their eyes bulge. Its perfectly normal. :)
i have a rat just like they look like little foxes with a diamond on there heard and a rorchach ink blot on there back the only diffrence is that mines black and the diamond on mine is more centered
It's just your regular fancy rat. She has special markings, as many fancy rats do. They come in quite a variety but they're all just regular pet rats. :)
