Remember this theme very well, because if memory serves, it was on right before either Star Trek or Blakes Seven in 1979/1980. (I think it was Star Trek.) So I used to watch the end credits every week!
I'm pretty sure it was Blake's 7 (Season 3), as I was (and still am) an avid viewer of that show. Brings back good memories hearing this intro theme in any case.
HI there, I played Janet Dickens for 2 years in the series (1981,82 and part 83) I have some of the series on tape but not sure how good the quality is now.
That theme is not the original, it is slightly heavier. The 1975 original version, was best. You can find it on a cd "A-Z of British Tv Themes". There were 3 albums out by 2003. Try keymailorder.
@ryalman21 Yes, less was better and sorry to sound so technical, but it was only two channels really, since bbc was split into 2 wasn't it, the more general bbc1 and the more educational bbc2 and all before the massive event of ch4. But yes, a lot of what showed then gives me goosebumps now, very haunting and memory provoking.
@terrycharnley Ah no. that's just being pedantic. True BBC1 and BBC2 were run by the same company, but they were still 2 separate channels. Add ITV and you had the Big 3 that existed in the UK during the golden age of TV. I guess you don't work for a cable TV company? As they exaggerate about the number of channels all the time. So do SKY. I mean if you get a package of 200 channels, how many are shopping channels :-) Not real TV at all.
By 1983 this was set in Birmingham. The ambulance at the beginning has a west mis health authority logo and much of the fiming was done in Birmingham hospitals. I cant remember why they moved ........
I loved this when I was little!!!

Was this composed by the same guy who did the theme to The Professionals? Has a very similar feel.
KaitainCPS 1 year ago
@KaitainCPS No, this is called 'Motivation' by Alan Parker. "The Professionals" theme was by Laurie Johnson.
