Just because one company can make a killer engine based off the SOHC D-series doesn't mean that for the most part it's the same all over. I mean, the record for the SR20 series was like 7.25 last I saw in 2008.
@PzownedProductions uhh yeah its the same factory block with upgraded internals, factory head with upgraded internals, its not "based off of" anything it IS a sohc honda engine....and there are several of them out there go look on d series.org youll find all the proof you need. 9's out of a sohc honda motor are damn impressive. and also there are hondas in the sevens as well...just not sohc platforms.

Boring, stroking are whatever. Filling in open decks, using a different, vastly reworked head that isn't even Honda in anything but the name on the valve cover, etc. I've worked on built drag cars. Boring, stroking, pistons, etc. don't change the basic engine design. Reworking heads, filling open decks, etc. are no longer Honda, it's a custom design using the original as a mold basically.

It is a custom block by then, considering the open deck is FILLED TO MAKE A CLOSED DECK. You name me ONE D-series that comes FACTORY SOLID DECK, and one D-series head that flows that well. They don't use off-the-shelf parts, they totally rework the engine to suit the needs.

Exactly what I just said. Your LS/VTEC and B20/VTEC are both not meant for boost. They're high-compression and open deck. Open decks are not good for boosting, especially those LS/VTEC craps with a horrible rod/stroke ratio that does nothing for longevity without sticking B17 pistons in there. Have fun boosting an open deck, high-compression, bad R/S ratio engine, it won't last half as long as a SR20DET, which was built for boost.

B20's have 8.8+ C/R, which is the only one that I'd consider boosting somewhat. LS/V's have around 9.4+ C/R's. Those compression ratios will mean you'll have to push less boost to avoid detonation on pump gas. The SR20DET, meant to be boosted, only has 8.5 C/R. The open deck is bad for forced induction, as it makes the block less sturdy. Please do some damn research.

I know plenty of people with boosted Hondas and they're not meant for boost. Even if you drop the compression ratio to a boost-friendly level, you STILL HAVE AN OPEN DECK THAT IS ILL SUITED. Goddamn, there's more then just fucking compression ratios, that's what I've been saying. Honda motors were meant to increase all-motor capabilities, with few exceptions can they hand lots of boost. Hell, 20 year old SR20's can handle 350-400WHP stock.

Actually, Stephanie Eggum's Honda only hits high 7's. Larry Larson's Nova hits high 6's and runs on pump gas, not race fuel. The NSX did not smash on sports cars of its day. K20 has 220 HP, at the flywheel. Four years before Honda even had i-VTEC, Nissan had NeoVVL and made 187 HP out of an equal displacement, 86x86 bore x stroke engine. Four years before Honda had separate intake and exhaust timing. Even with less HP it makes gobs of torque for its size.

Papadakis' "Civic" was a Pro-Stock chassis, which doesn't really count as a Civic in my eyes. Same reason I don't consider top fuelers based on Camaro chassis to be Camaros. The NSX WAS close to the R34 and Supra, however, the NSX was heavily tuned for an N/A engine, whereas the Supra and R34 had to give leeway due the gentleman's agreement Japan had. I don't hate or dislike Hondas, just their fans. Most tend to be annoying little kids spouting JDM and shit, haha.

Exactly what I just said. Your LS/VTEC and B20/VTEC are both not meant for boost. They're high-compression and open deck. Open decks are not good for boosting, especially those LS/VTEC craps with a horrible rod/stroke ratio that does nothing for longevity without sticking B17 pistons in there. Have fun boosting an open deck, high-compression, bad R/S ratio engine, it won't last half as long as a SR20DET, which was built for boost.

B20's have 8.8+ C/R, which is the only one that I'd consider boosting somewhat. LS/V's have around 9.4+ C/R's. Those compression ratios will mean you'll have to push less boost to avoid detonation on pump gas. The SR20DET, meant to be boosted, only has 8.5 C/R. The open deck is bad for forced induction, as it makes the block less sturdy. Please do some damn research.

I know plenty of people with boosted Hondas and they're not meant for boost. Even if you drop the compression ratio to a boost-friendly level, you STILL HAVE AN OPEN DECK THAT IS ILL SUITED. Goddamn, there's more then just fucking compression ratios, that's what I've been saying. Honda motors were meant to increase all-motor capabilities, with few exceptions can they hand lots of boost. Hell, 20 year old SR20's can handle 350-400WHP stock.

Actually, Stephanie Eggum's Honda only hits high 7's. Larry Larson's Nova hits high 6's and runs on pump gas, not race fuel. The NSX did not smash on sports cars of its day. K20 has 220 HP, at the flywheel. Four years before Honda even had i-VTEC, Nissan had NeoVVL and made 187 HP out of an equal displacement, 86x86 bore x stroke engine. Four years before Honda had separate intake and exhaust timing. Even with less HP it makes gobs of torque for its size.

Papadakis' "Civic" was a Pro-Stock chassis, which doesn't really count as a Civic in my eyes. Same reason I don't consider top fuelers based on Camaro chassis to be Camaros. The NSX WAS close to the R34 and Supra, however, the NSX was heavily tuned for an N/A engine, whereas the Supra and R34 had to give leeway due the gentleman's agreement Japan had. I don't hate or dislike Hondas, just their fans. Most tend to be annoying little kids spouting JDM and shit, haha.
